The VSR silicone rubbers (so... yes, the one you'd put in a TM glock) are amazing and I love them. Got autobot rubbers in everything that can take VSR rubbers, which is a lot as I have a lot of gas guns, with the exception of my m700s which seem to prefer modify rubbers. The AEG silicone rubbers are utter trash. Slapped one in my m14 and it sent BBs all over the place; lost all consistency in its grouping. Sticking to regular macarons in my AEGs for now.

I'm a big fan of the Cyma mp5 models. The mp5sd6 isn't one of their platinums, but I have their non-platinum mp5k and it's one hell of a workhorse of a gun. Swapped the hop rubber and nub and it's performing incredibly well. The body on mine is a little wobbly, but that's more because I dropped it on the concrete floor at AI500 in Dover and two parts that hold the upper and lower receiver together snapped off (it's still fine as the pins hold it in place, but there's a bit of wobble). I think if I was going to get a full-size mp5 (probably won't as I have an mp5k, mp9 and plan on getting an mp7), I'd go for a Cyma again.

I don't get the hype either. The KWA mp9 has been out for a while and is pretty nice. Mine is snappy on semi and has a solid ROF on full auto. I've swapped out the hop and barrel for the TNT retrofit kit and it's got silly range and can shoot silly weight BBs if I really wanted to, but I keep to .32s in woodland and .28s in CQB and it performs amazingly well. I also think the Vorsk is ugly and I don't trust them as I don't trust any of the Nuprol-adjacent brands. Give me a regular KWA mp9 any day.

Very well, in an attempt to bring this thread back on topic I will present you with an almighty wall that would make even the great orange cheeto himself proud... I went to Worthing for a skirmish day over the weekend and it was the first time I've played all through the day. With my health issues out of the way now, I've got a bunch of weight to lose (again) and fitness to build up (again), plus I was taking my new, lovely m40a5 out to play. I had set up the hop, zeroed the scope etc last game day in the regular m700 stock, but since the m40 stock arrived I took the receiver and barrel assembly out and just put it straight in the new m40 stock. Didn't need much beyond some fine tuning of the scope zero, but it was still flinging BBs out to the 75m target accurately and with ease, so I was a very happy little sniper. It hasn't been this consistently good ever, as first time I tried the Action Army hop unit it sent absolutely everything to the moon, but with this build (using the Action Army hop unit, but a Modify X-range rubber instead of a Maple Leaf autobot) it's lovely and consistent and sending plastic out to the ranges where I need it to. Also, fortunate that I always bring a spare gun as my friends' m700s were both acting up, so I gave him the ol' reliable Cyma SR-25 to go and have fun with (and have fun he did!). Anyway, first game was a very quick warm up game that the head marshall called Rorke's Drift. One team was set up around the Tower base, with their respawn being the chapel building next to it (as there was an infirmary in the film that had the wounded soldiers in). Defenders only had a single respawn from there and no medic rule; when shot, they entered the chapel from the front and left out the back. There was to be no shooting into the front of the chapel, but once they got out the back they were fair game. Attackers spawned from two different spots, one on each side of the Tower base, so the defenders were very much surrounded. Was only supposed to be a quick warm up game, and a quick warm up game it was. We were on defense first, so me and my friend set up to cover one side from near a fence line, as one of the only places where we knew we couldn't be flanked easily due to the site boundary. We hid ourselves incredibly well and had a great line of fire across the base, so we started racking up the kills, however after my friend got hit I didn't have nearly enough firepower with a bolt action rifle to stop the enemy team from just swarming into the Tower and taking it. Also, I was so well hidden that the dead players all came and stood around me, not even noticing I was there despite me not wearing a ghillie at this time of year, and my gun is so quiet that they didn't even notice the shots. 15 mins was their time and we swapped sides. I knew exactly where I would go on the attack, knowing a nice little spot I could take that would give me a really nice sight line on the rear corner of the chapel building. If they exited and turned left, they went straight into my crosshairs; not a problem if they move fast, since BBs have a flight time and there isn't enough of a gap to lead a shot effectively, but for those airsofters who just milled about (and you know airsofters love to meander and all stack up behind a piece of cover) it was basically a guaranteed shot for me. I managed to get into the position fairly easily, with my team clearing out those on the immediate barricades after I called out their positions, and once I was there I started to rack up the defenders. You would think they'd learn after someone gets shot standing about, but they kept standing and gawking around the corner that was in my crosshairs, so I spent all game just taking them out. Eventually, we got into the Tower in 11 mins, winning the game after a slow start that built momentum quite quickly. Next game was... useless for me. Three flip cans in an area of the site ironically called Clearing, but it is anything but clear. During the summer it is basically a CQB killhouse, but instead of walls it's thick bushes. Imagine playing airsoft in a very unkempt hedge maze and you're pretty much on the nose of what the gameplay in there was. Now, I had an MED of 30m and since you're lucky to shoot over 3m my rifle was basically useless. Also I had forgotten to gas up my pistol magazines, so I was running on residual gas charge from last game day (one mag was decently gassed, two had some gas in, one had barely any and one had literally none). So I just took it as an opportunity to practice my sneaky-beaky skills instead, sneaking my way along the boundary until I got to their side where they had to enter from and started cutting off their reinforcements. Unfortunately, my sneaking took the vast majority of the game, so it wasn't long before that game was also over. I think our team had all 3 flip cans in the end... Last game before lunch was a flag raising game around Bridge. Bridge has recently been vandalised by local yobbos so it's more like a platform across what is a small river outside of summer (it dries up in the summer though) and there were two flags there; one yellow and one blue. Obviously, blue team had to raise the blue one and yellow had to raise the yellow one, while making sure the opposing colour is down. While the first few games had been a bit one-sided for us blues, this showed that the yellows were more mentally resilient than the blues as a lot of blues took an early lunch after being frustratedly shot trying to push up. The bottom of the site where this game was taking place is another area that is very thick with foliage and the yellows had a few people laying under bushes and spraying us as soon as we got close. Furthermore, a few on their team managed to successfully flank around us and starting shooting us in the back, though the two of them learned to never try and surrender kill me and my friend; a surrender kill is not a bang kill and is optional. The idea is you shout surrender and the person can take it and walk off, or they can try and resist and risk getting shot point blank. Me and my friend never take surrender kills, so... They yelled out surrender to a group of about 5 of us and while the other three took it, me and my friend did not and we shot them, though he got taken out in the process. After this I managed to crawl up into a position with a view on the path, though the foliage was very thick and punching through it with a sniper rifle was difficult, but it was also so well hidden that when that same pair flanked around us again, I took them both out with the pistol. Had to wait for perfect shots though as I only had one good mag, so I couldn't afford to get into a gun fight! Suffice to say, with half of our team throwing their toys out of the pram and the yellow team staying resolute, we got absolutely hammered in this game. After lunch, the marshall decided to split me and my friend onto separate teams. He had managed to get his m700 working, but it was only firing at 0.5J. It was still ranging out decently well, but you could barely feel it and the projectile was slow, so as he was the only person on the other team who knows my spots (and I know his), I took that into consideration and stuck to spots where my 2.3J would give me a strong advantage. Unfortunately, this also made me somewhat predictable, as there are only so many sight lines at Worthing at this time of year. We got out for a three base domination game and I ran along a path, thinking their respawn was a lot further back than it actually was. I immediately bumped into my friend who was sitting to the side in a bush, but he screwed up his shot, missing me and then getting shot by the player behind me before I could draw my pistol and shoot him myself; he left his pistol in the safe zone as his bolt action had no MED at 0.5J, but it meant that his screwed up shot cost him and he couldn't make follow up shots quickly enough. With that near miss gone, and my friend telling me where their spawn actually was, I pulled back to make sure I wasn't going to be spawn camping. He came back (and I don't know why he did...) and immediately got hit by me. However, once he respawned again he moved into a position that I was never going to hit him in, since the gap to shoot through the trees where he was posted up was so tiny and at 70m+ range, plus it was in darkness so seeing the gaps was a challenge enough in itself, I was never going to hit him. I sent one shot his way, adjusting for wind and watching it sail towards him and apparently he told me afterwards that the shot was bloody close. It impacted with the part of the tree right in front of him and gave him a bit of a scare. I knew he couldn't hit me from that position, so I was fine where I was, but I moved on after a pair of his team ran down the path at me, not knowing where I was and getting lit up by my pistol, with all 5 of my mags now gassed! I moved off to another position and caught my friend again as he pushed up, waiting for him to step into a slight clearing in the holly bush before shooting, as I could see more of his team on my flank that I would need to shoot as well. This went well, but by this point I was now surrounded on all sides and enemies were less than 10m from me. I stayed very still, only taking the occasional shot with my m40a5 (as I had learned earlier just how quiet it was), but I was eventually shot in the boot by a respawning player who had pushed up again with a rough idea of where I was. I fell back, respawned and came back in, pointing out a sneaky flanking manoevre that the enemy team were trying and letting everyone know. I couldn't do too much about it, but my team cleared out the sneaky players while I focused on the middle area, which was far better for me as it was far more open. By this point my friend had also given up and was watching with two of the marshalls. I had laid down behind a tree, bipod deployed and sniping along a path that the yellow team just loved to move up and they were having a real giggle watching me pick them off every time. One of the players on the other team, who is also a marshall but wasn't marshalling that day, knew it was me, but had no idea where I was until I shot him, he gave a laugh and a wave my direction and went to have a chat with the marshalls, spotting me behind the tree (he was good-natured. He wasn't doing it to find where I was and he didn't come back or tell anyone on his team about my location). I wasn't sure how the game was going, but when the game was called, apparently we held all three bases. For the next game I didn't take part, as I had lost a magazine in the morning and King Arms m700 magazines are literally £70 each, so while I didn't know when I lost it, I thought I'd revisit all the places I had been in the morning to try and find it, as it wouldn't get handed in because very few players would've been where I went. Fortunately, I did find the magazine and breathed a heavy sigh of relief, but between having a chat with some friends and searching for my lost magazine, I missed the game entirely. Oh well, I got back for the last game which was a simple attack and defend on the Tower base, got into one of my usual spots and did a bit of target practice. It was quite a breezy day, so I had to adjust for wind, as well as taking a few elevated shots as I'm currently practicing my long range shooting skills so that I can more reliably make those longer range shots (talking 90m+) reliably and consistently, eliminating as much of the guess work as possible. I definitely need a new scope though as my current one has no mil-dots and that would make my life a lot easier for getting a bit more consistency in these shots. We managed to hold the tower for the entire game and I had gone through most of my ammo in my sniper rifle mags (don't let that fool you into thinking I'm shooting like crazy; I only carry 3x 28rd magazines and generally don't need to refill outside of lunch), but that was the last game of the day. Headed back to pack up, have a chat with friends and marshalls and then go home for some well-deserved rest. All in all it was a fantastic day of airsoft and probably one of the better ones I've had in a while, even though two of the games were not friendly for guns with an MED. Really happy with how the m40a5 is performing and will keep using it for now, as well as its uniqueness as nobody else at Worthing runs an m40a5 or m40a3. All of the other snipers are using MTWs (eww), or Modify Scouts, or VSRs, so nothing that even looks similar. That said, I think I may put the SR-25 away for a bit as my backup gun, as I've returned to only running a belt kit for sniping, meaning my chest rig is freed up for me to slap 5.56 mag pouches on instead of 7.62 ones, so I'm getting the TM MWS (it's an m16a4, not an m4) back out as my backup gun. I've put a longer barrel in it now, so the barrel pokes a tiny bit into the flash hider (it's not far enough to be visible), and an NPAS so I can dial down the power when the joule creep inevitably strikes. Looking forward to the next one at Worthing as it's one of their special ones following a narrative that one of the marshalls has put together. Will be one long game in the morning that continues after lunch, with objectives changing as the gameplay shifts and time passes. They've already asked us which team our loyalties lie with on Facebook, since there is a bit of loyalty to each side of the conflict as players tend to stick to one team, but in true mercenary assassin fashion, I've already told the marshall that my answer is "whoever offers me the bigger bribe"

Hey there! If you're down at Worthing you'll probably see me around (though hopefully not during the game or I'm not doing my job well enough!). In terms of what I'd get, I would do exactly what you're doing and giveit a few times to make sure it's for you. In terms of other stuff, good eye protection and good boots are must-haves in my opinion. Also, for your son he will need full face protection. I know at Worthing they say for the very young ones it has to be one-piece, so a full mask as opposed to eye protection plus a lower face mask. Obviously it depends where you're playing, but that's what it's like at Worthing at least. For kit, army surplus shops are great. Can pick up some cheap DPM or MTP camo, as well as either a cheap load bearing assault vest or a set of PLCE webbing for next to nothing. In terms of first guns, we can cross that bridge when we get there, but there are plenty of budget-friendly AEGs out there that make perfect starter guns. Cyma have some great offerings for mp5/AK/m14s, Double Eagle have some great m4 style rifles, but really I find that guns are very much down to personal preference, hence I think it's probably a discussion for once you and your son have decided if the hobby is for you. Hey, I got a sniper rifle as my first gun and it worked out well for me! (in all seriousness though, I wouldn't advise it. Lots of people think airsoft sniping is going to be like in video games but it's really not and more often than not you'll be at a serious disadvantage)

*looks at HPA m21* Huh... I never knew that I, as a (sometimes) HPA player, have that sort of attitude. This is news to me, thank you for educating me on how I think, how I have a bad attitude and pointing out my short-sightedness. Also thank you for showing me that I actually have two right shoulders. I can easily fire my HPA m21 from both shoulders and originally thought that meant I could shoot from both my left and right shoulder, but now it makes so much more sense knowing I don't have a left shoulder, just two right shoulders.

I run a gas bolt action and I'm pretty sure if I chronoed on a .2 I would be something like 1.4J, while on a .45 or .48 I'm around 2.2J without changing anything else.

In that case, I can't recommend the Action Army hop unit enough. I've got that, plus a modify X-range and Action Army nub and a crazy jet barrel in mine and it's amazing. For some reason my setup doesn't like Maple Leaf rubbers and sent everything, even .48s with no hop applied, straight to the moon. The X-range bucking though performs really really nicely -

Can't remember who used to make the m40a3 gas version (pretty sure there was one though), but the m700 based one is expensive, since you have to get the m700 then also get the conversion kit, but once it's together you get the m700 system behind it and the Action Army m700 hop unit is probably the best hop unit I've ever worked with. -

A few things turned up from Evike Europe today and now I feel like a very special little snowflake (because who runs an m40a3 these days, let alone a gas one). I've wanted an airsoft m40a3 or m40a5 for over a decade and I'm glad I finally got one that is good! Most of the m40s around aren't to my liking (none of them are properly VSR compatible), but this one... I love the KJW/Tanaka m700 platform, and it's just that with a fancy m40a3/5 stock and shorter outer barrel. All that's left for this build is a nice Vortex scope and it'll be completely done! Also will test out this adjustable bolt over the weekend. I think it will still require the gas routers to do most of the heavy lifting, but the screw in the bolt itself looks like it could be useful for fine tuning when I need to drop or gain like 0.1J or so a bit more consistently than adjusting the hammer spring tension. Now I just need to get a few parts to finish the other m700... -
I run 60 and 70 degree macarons in all my AEGs and they easily hop .32s at 1.1J, so they'll easily do it at 1.47J. Probably will do heavier, I just don't because .32s do the job and are inexpensive (.32s I find are the cut off point before ammo starts becoming very pricey!) At 1.47J, I'd probably run a 70 degree rubber.

Customs have my parcel, I've filled out all the paperwork and there's no RIF in it... So why do I still feel so anxious? ?

UPS? They can't be bothered to read the HS code / product description or I wonder if they even bother to scan, so they just make you sign a form to cover their own ass whenever there's a hint of airsoft. RIF or no RIF.
Don't mind so much but surely they could create an electronic form that's linked to your tracking number than you can fill out.

Yeah, and I'm thinking of going OD, and the Magpul grips come in OD where a lot of other grips tend to stick with black, grey and tan. Want to get an AFG, CTR stock, MOE K2+ grip and MOE trigger guard all in OD, maybe some rail covers too for the rails I won't be sticking stuff on, though since I plan on putting a grip, QD sling mount and a PEQ box on it that's not a high priority.
-
They say you can get prescription lenses for them, and I'm sure you can, but I don't think the prescription lenses will be sufficient eye protection for airsoft. I have asked the question, but I think it's highly unlikely If they are, I'll get some when it's not a pre-order. As @Rogerborg said, these projects can stall at this stage, or simply... disappear. I'll wait, my sawflys and herosharks are fine with inserts for now.
-
Rails are actually something I won't be replacing since I love my mid 2000s and retro rifle setups, so I'll be keeping the standard RIS quad-rail and I have a plastic handguard, carry handle with a rail attachment and an older CAR-15 type retractable stock for if I ever want to go retro. The main issue for me is deciding which pistol grip to get. I was going to go full Magpul, since I was also planning on getting a CTR stock and so a MOE grip would probably go nicely, but since I got a Hogue grip for my other MWS which is done like an m16a4 I'm conflicted, since the Hogue grip is so damn nice.

A few things, to be sure... Getting my m40a3 stock for one of my KJW m700 and adjustable m700 bolt from Evike (it's in country and I've filled out the declaration form, but delivery date keeps shifting!) for a fairly unique build, because who runs a gas m40a3 these days? Especially if I can get it running at both 1.1J and 2.3J depending on bolt setup and gas used Doing a mostly real-steel tacticool MWS CQB build, getting more gas mp9 magazines and putting together a full CQB kit, since all of my loadouts at the moment tend towards lightweight recce setups. Will be good to have a door-kicker loadout too. September Namsoft, as well as next year's Namsoft at Gunman. The latter I'm hoping to actually be fitter for since the last Namsoft was a kick in the balls and there's only so much I can do in a few months Getting a driving license so that I can go to different sites every now and then Mopping up the last of my debts so I can justify buying a Vortex scope or two or three or four... Got my eye on the hog hunter with that massive 56mm objective lens and I want like... 3 of them, as well as an LPVO and maybe a red dot I'm quite a positive person when it comes to airsoft, since there's already enough negativity going around thanks to social media and how the algorithms work.

Could be used as a conversion piece. Make a midcap out of some weird, obscure RS magazine that airsoft manufacturers don't make.

So another weekend, another skirmish day at Worthing and... it went pretty well all in all! I planned on running my SR-25 today instead of my bolt action for two reasons. Firstly, I was planning on pairing up with my friend and we are starting to practice as a sniper/spotter team, plus we're not running ghillies to make sure we're keeping our camo and concealment skills honed. He wanted to use his m700, so I decided I'd run the SR-25 and be the spotter today (I'm the more experienced sniper so it also makes sense!). Secondly, the Cyma Platinum mosfet in it will eventually burn itself out because it's awful, so I want to run it a bunch until it finally gives up, then I'll put a perun and maybe a full cylinder and maybe a warhead motor, but we'll cross that bridge when the stock mosfet kills itself. Anyway, went up to chrono and was at 1.02J while my friend was at 2.25J, so we were good to go. We got our blue armbands at the briefing and headed out. First game we played an attack and defend around a base called Tower, which is a tower (funnily enough), but they have built some extra structures around it and it looks like they're trying to turn it into a village of sorts. However, I noticed a few potential places to set up to make life difficult in the new structures so when the game started me and my friend set off at a jog to get there in good time. I set up in the front with a line onto the back of the structures and the windows inside, while my friend set up just behind and worked the other angles while I made sure nobody could get close. Working as a sniper/spotter team works really, really well as we managed to lock down the area, however it soon became clear that actually taking the space was very difficult from our side and our team was unable to push in. In the end the yellow team managed to hold the tower and so we swapped ends. Upon swapping ends, I took a position near the fence by the new structures and bullied people trying to come down the path, while my friend once again set up behind me and worked an angle to our left. Between the two of us we completely locked the part of the site down again, with me taking the nearby fights and the fights along the front, while he had a great sight line along the front of the tower, meaning the only way they could push was the other side, and we had plenty of people watching over that. As expected, we managed to win the 2nd game. Next we went to a simple 2-flag CTF game before lunch. We had a jerry can in our base, the yellows had a jerry can in their base. We had to steal theirs and bring it back to our base while also holding onto our own. Having a scoped rifle, I set up on a fallen tree on defense. It was a very bushy fallen tree and while I was simply sitting on top of it, I was very well concealed, though my sight lines were limited. However, I didn't get shot at by the enemy team once, while I managed to rack up a really nice number of kills from the position, even as the players around me all fell. Even though it's an AEG, the SR-25 is a quiet AEG and people had no idea where I was, not even the guys who were about 4m away from me when I shot, then shot them as they started creeping up and came into my sight line. Unfortunately by this point my friend's m700 was being weird, so he simply ran around medicing people and shooting with his mk23. This meant I was left alone and while the enemy didn't shoot at me, my team decided I needed to be shot at twice, despite me having my back to them and shooting in the other direction. Fortunately the foliage was thick enough and/or they were poor enough shots to miss me completely, so I managed to get them to stop shooting at me by waving my armband up and gesturing to where I kept hearing enemy players creeping through the nettles behind my position. It was one hell of an adrenaline rush sitting on the tree having to watch one way with the SR-25 and making sure I had my pistol at the ready for if they walked out behind me and I managed to survive the entire game in this position while once again stacking up kills. AEGs are so much easier than bolt actions... ? After lunch we went back to the village area with the objective being a bomb inside the church building (shack) that had to be armed. We started on the favoured side and our brigade of speedy players managed to get to the church before the enemy, arming the bomb with our timer. This won us the game, as then the rest of our team filed in and took positions all around the village, with me and my friend heading back to the same position we took in the morning by the fence, once again locking it down completely. We managed to hold onto the area for the entire game, though the yellows had started to push through to the tower, but they weren't able to push past it and into the church building with our team respawning in and hitting them both from the side me and my friend had set up on, as well as their flank that faced towards our spawn. I think the village needs a little bit of work; some extra barricades on the non-favoured side I think would go a long way, because at the moment it's definitely favouring one side. I was incredibly impressed with the SR-25 as it was shooting accurately out to 60m which was allowing me to get some dirty long range shots through little gaps in the foliage. Plus, with the mods I've done to it, it's incredibly quiet for an AEG, so beyond 15m or so you just don't hear it, and even then it's not the easiest to locate. Also having 5 midcaps at my disposal felt like cheating, since I'm so used to running around with 100 shots total, but today I had 600, plus an Odin speedloader in another pouch. I sat out on the last game as I needed to test my m700 since I had changed hop rubber and chamber and wanted to see how it would perform. When I ran the Action Army hop chamber before, it seemed to overhop absolutely everything, but I saw people on Facebook talking about the Modify X-range rubbers that just seemed to work really well with the m700, so I tried putting the Action Army chamber back in my m700 but this time with a 55 degree Modify X-range and oh my god it hasn't shot this well ever. It's no longer over-hopping, though it doesn't require much hop to be applied to lift .48s so it's absolutely perfect now. I was so happy that this was so successful, so I'll be picking up another rubber and another chamber for my other m700! All in all it was a pretty damn good day today. There were a few rentals who were hilariously bad at hit taking, but other than that I didn't really experience anything bad. Hit taking was generally quite good and didn't see anyone shooting within their MED, which are the two instances of rule breaking I usually see. It was just... really good. Also the weather was almost perfect. It was about 18 - 19c today and mostly sunny, though it was overcast at times. There was a bit of a breeze, but it wasn't too bad. Had to angle some shots, but such is the nature of airsoft. Already looking forward to the next game day. Hopefully my order from Evike Europe will arrive before then (both items were in their US warehouse so I'm having to wait for them) and I'll be able to give one of my m700s a makeover and test a new bolt.

It's on my list of films to watch. I love Indian action films and the YRF spy universe films are some of my favourites, particularly WAR and Tiger Zinda Hai (sequel of Ek Tha Tiger, plus Tiger 3 is coming out this year in India). Unlike Hollywood and most western films (just look at the absolute drivel they churn out with all the modern comic book movies), they aren't afraid to have a bit of fun with their films in India.
-
I just use the standard ones and they work fantastically well. May not be the ideal look you're after, but they'll work like a charm.
-
My friend had a KJ Works 1911 which was decent. Worked with both green gas and CO2 depending on magazine used, so he ran green in the summer and CO2 when it got chilly.
-
Not sure what you mean? We pushed them out of the base and then had to hold it for the rest of the game so me and my friend took up a position on the flank.
-
Running it today worked really well. The belt stayed where it was meant to with 4 pistol mags on one side and a pistol on the other, then the chest rig with 3 spare m700 magazines moved a little, but it was far less and easier to deal with than when the belt wobbles all over the place. As long as you spread the mags out across belt and chest rig I think it works out.

Just a normal skirmish day at Worthing this weekend and after last week's fiasco at the 'Nam game where everything conspired to stop me playing, This time the weather in the morning was lovely, slightly cloudy but warm and sunny otherwise and since I was wearing a fairly lightweight kit it was absolutely perfect. I was trialing a few things as well, starting to run a chest rig in addition to my belt kit, since running gas pistol and gas rifle magazines on a belt kit was adding too much weight and causing it to flop around all over the place. I was also going to run a backpack for gas and BBs, but the BBs I had with me were in a bottle and rattling all over the place, so I decided to not run the backpack today as my BB bags were padding the bottom of my mag pouches to make the m700 magazines fit better. The other thing I was experimenting with was running my mk23 again and... I both love and hate that gun. I love how quiet it is, but I hate that goddamn trigger pull. Jury is still out on whether I'll keep running it as I might go back to my HK45, but it at least earned not being put back into my box of pistols and instead gets to stay out with my HK45, p226 and AAP-01. Still running around without the ghillie, just a £25 uncrafted cobra hood from Russia to help break up the head and shoulders silhouette. Went out with the m700, which chronoed at around 2.15J, so nicely within the limit but with the 30m MED as I've been running that the past game day or so. First game we were doing an attack and defend on one of the bases that I know well and I went with two other snipers along one side, sneaking slowly along one side to start opening up the defense. Honestly, the attack went so well that our contributions were honestly not that great. We took out two or three on the way up, but our team did really well pushing the middle and the other side, so we took up positions and awaited the counter attack. My friend took up a position that he showed me last game day (and it's utter filth, I used it last game day) and he eventually ran out of ammo there were that many targets for him. I covered him from another position a little further back and we managed to hold the base for the rest of the game. We then switched ends, so we started in and around the base and the other team had to attack. I set up on the same side as we pushed beforehand, with my friend going to harass the middle. I eventually had to fall back to a spot I know, since the other team pushed up well (though it took a bit of time), after a ghillie on their team walked into the base and knife killed everyone. I wasn't there to comment on how visible his armband was, but either it was mostly hidden or the people in there were just blind and knowing airsofters I'm more inclined to go with the latter. However, the position I was in, while it covered one of the structures outside the base, rendering it unusable by the enemy team without getting plinked by me, my position also offered a tiny window to shoot to the back of the base and that's where I started to rack up hit after hit. From where they were, they had no idea where the shots were coming from, as I've looked at the spot from their position before and the gas m700 is so quiet, even though that doesn't make too much difference as the shot is about a 70m shot so they wouldn't hear it anyway. I lost count of how many people I got, but I think I went through two and a half m700 magazines taking people out on the back of the base and also in the other structure I had vision on. With my uncrafted cobra hood and my rifle wrapped, nobody could see me from their side while I was lying prone, and I've played long enough to know when and how to move to avoid being seen. It was a good game, but I think in the end they did manage to hold it, so that was one game a piece. After that we played a 3 base domination, but... well, they started our team at the bottom of the site with two of the bases at the top so we had the large hill to climb to get to two of the bases. Regardless, me and my friend headed up on the flank, keeping to the border of the site and taking a position where we could start ambushing players near one of the bases at the top of the site. It went well until they pushed around on a flank (which was out of bounds, naughty naughty!) and I got hit while trying to relocate. I told them they were out of bounds and they moved in bounds, but they didn't know my friend was there so I just bled out and headed back to respawn. I decided to run, both down the hill back to respawn and up the hill back to the front to try and get back in a somewhat timely manner, but they eventually found my friend as he didn't have a pistol and couldn't engage up close. Oh well! I still pushed back up, getting back into a position where I could start engaging targets that my team mates were fighting. It was a lot of back and forward and each time I got hit (two more times!) I ran down and up the hill once again to make sure I got back in the fight as soon as possible. Highlight of the game was posting a shot through a tiny gap in the foliage to get a satisfying whack onto a guy's helmet that could be heard for miles around from about 60m away and the most annoying part was when one of their team just walked up on our flank and shot us all while a group of six of our team just... watched him do it. Remember what I said earlier about airsofters and being blind? Yeah... Anyway, in the end I think the other team won that one, two bases to one, which is largely what I expected with the spawns where they were. While I was happy to run back and forth (even though I'm currently 145kg, which is anywhere between 40 - 50kg too heavy), a lot of airsofters aren't and we just never got a decent presence at the top of the site since only about ten (of a team of 40) of us made the effort. Every time I went back to respawn I saw lots and lots of people milling about the bottom of the site not doing much, but such is life at a skirmish day ? I decided not to go out after lunch. They did a game they like to call Omaha, which has one team starting at the top of the hill and the other team has to push through them through a relatively narrow gap. You'd think with us being at the bottom of the site for the last game they would've started us on defense at the top first, right? Right...? Nope, our team was consigned to the bottom of the hill once more and I decided that pushing up a narrow part of the site with a bolt action rifle with an MED wasn't worth it, plus the forecast was heavy rain in the afternoon and the clouds were starting to look a bit angry. I think I made the right decision, as I had surprised myself with my ability to run all 145kg of me plus kit up and down that hill before lunch but I was feeling a bit tired after that. Also, the heavens did indeed open up and even on the range I was fogging, since it was still warm but it turned super humid with the rainfall. Instead I decided to make sure the SR-25 is still shooting well, setting the scope and making sure the hop rubber was good and oh my goodness was it good. Chronoed it in the morning just in case I wanted to use it and it was pretty much right on 1J and once I had set the scope (since there was no wind today) and the hop up, it was reliably hitting the 60m target. Also, for an AEG it's pretty quiet so I am very impressed with that gun. Had a chat with my friend and we're going to start pairing up more, with one running a bolt action and one running a 1J rifle so we can operate as a proper sniper/spotter pair. Today was okay, but two bolt actions isn't a great setup. Next game day I'm going to be the spotter, since I have a better gun for it and I have the rangefinder so it'll be the SR-25 next time. The only bad parts of the day were the cheaters, since there was quite a bit of non-hit taking, and an annoying rule that they've started to run with at Worthing. Most of the games today were semi-auto only, which I get for filmsim / milsim games where you have dedicated roles and support gunners who are allowed full auto, but at a skirmish day I really don't. I think it's come into effect because too many people whinge about over-shooting, including one of the marshalls when he plays, so they've started making the games all semi-only. It doesn't really affect me, since the guns I run tend to be semi-only anyway because of muh immersion (SR-25 shouldn't have full auto!) and the fact that GBBRs don't tend to like full-auto much, but if you like running a support gun you're a bit stuck at the moment. I really hope it doesn't persist, but it has cropped up in the last two game days so the cynic in me is doubtful. Only time will tell, but I've just had a curry and I'm happily unpacking after what was a good day for the mostpart. Roll on the next!
