  1. It's because he secretly is a girl, Dave. Only explanation...
  2. I think they've captured the essence of everything really well. Sure, they've got details wrong, and there's some stuff that's truly unforgivable... Rotating charging handles, anyone? But on the whole I don't have a problem with stuff being wrong, really. Most people watching don't know any better, and it's not like it takes anything away from the actual content of the show.
  3. I really enjoyed it =[ Anyone watching Our Girl on BBC1?
  4. L119... Or Mk12? Hmm...

Get a normal length m4 and take the extension off, I bought a cqbr and the barrel isn't quite the right length. I'm not that fussed as it's like 1cm difference but your provably more bothered than I am :P

I assumed that buying a standard length one would land with with a standard length inner barrel as well, and I'm too lazy to buy a shorter one lol.

Well my only experience is with the 416 and the inner barrel in between in length, shorter than with the extension, longer than without so a bit of a pain. End of the day I think it's just a cm or so and not a big deal but depends on how anal you are ;)

  5. Taken 3 trailer has been released. The "Good luck" line. Oh my fuck. It's going to be amazing.

I haven't seen Taken 2. Was that any good?

Wasn't as good as the first one, but I still enjoyed it.

  6. Reading stuff like this really makes me want to try it, but I feel like picking a rifle up capable of it is just too much of a gamble. I've owned two snipers, and both have been beyond awful lol.
  7. I use drawing pins with the point sanded flat (Y) nice and easy to push on by hand, but has a fat enough head to use a hammer if you need too. Plus if they break, who cares? You can get 80 billion for about a quid lol.
  8. Of the 3 sites you mention I've only been to Skirmish, and it's been my regular site since I started playing 4 years ago, really great site. One of the best outdoor sites in the country by my reckoning and the staff and facilities are probably the best I've encountered in my time playing too. Closer to home, there's Skirmish's other site - Skirmish Airsoft CQB, which is in Rotherham. Though they don't do hire kit unfortunately, it's a pretty hardcore site and I think they worry people might slip or run into something and accidentally break hire guns. There's also Tac House: Spartan in Chesterfield, again it's an indoor CQB site, they do offer a hire package though, and the site's awesome. One of the best CQB sites I've played. Run by a very experienced bunch of staff who used to run The Stan in Sheffield 2 or 3 years ago, which as it happens is actually being redeveloped by Skirmish, hopefully it'll be open before too long. Probably be early 2015 at the rate they're going at the moment, they've had a lot of set backs. The Stan will be well worth keeping an eye on though, because that probably is the best CQB site I've ever played. Much closer to home, there's Bawtry Paintball Fields, who on (I think) a fortnightly basis, run airsoft games under BritTac Airsoft. Bawtry is a pretty awesome site and BritTac are very well known, practised airsoft game organisers, they regularly run MilSim events at MoD training facilities, up and down the country. They're the best 4 sites in the immediate vicinity, but there are some others, Black Dagger in Dronfield and Black Hills in Chesterfield off the top of my head, sure there are more but it's too early for all this thinking lol.
  9. Skirmish Airsoft have a CQB site in Rotherham, players capped at 40, if people are up for the trip then maybe we could consider booking out a team or something. Or even the whole site if there's enough interest. I know the owners well, so I could liaise with them if enough people show willing.
  10. As I understand it, G&G have used this as the sort of "tester" platform for all this new AEG innovation style shit. When I was reading about it a while ago, it had a handful of unique features which sound great on paper, but when thrown into the middle of a market full of people used to working their way around the old, trusted stuff, it's probably more bad than good. The motor is built to be a sort of QD system, from my reading it seems like G&G want to eventually end up with very modular guns where you can just add and remove bits without there needing to be a huge, complex disassembly process. So expect them to be releasing the motors compatible with this system, so you can just remove the stock, slide the motor out, slide the new one in and voila, done. The beauty of it is that there's no wires. Everything just clips together, even the battery. The downside is that no wires = more connectors, which ultimately means a less efficient use of power; not to mention the fact that standard motors can't be used. Batteries can probably be used with an adaptor, but that's just adding even more connectors lol, and the part compatibility issue is a pretty major one, which for the majority of serious players will pretty much sound the death knell for it. It's got a snazzy electronic control unit in the gearbox too, I don't know if it's programmable, but I think it's more than just a mosfet. Oh and a quick change spring. If AEGs had never existed before, there wasn't an enormous wealth of parts available for them, and people didn't know how to work on them and make them better, then this would be one of the most amazing new guns on the market. But as it stands, G&G seem to be trying to reinvent the AEG, which just isn't going to happen by restricting part compatibility, but at the same time, nothing's ever going to change if you don't try to challenge the current model, so we'll just have to see how it goes.
  11. My WE Glock, which cost me £85 new, is consistent enough to hit a man at 40m without much bother, so long as they're unaware and presenting themselves as a full target of course. When the weather gets cold I can change gas, either Mapp gas, WE Nuprol 3.0, or CO2 and get the same results. No worries running it all year round, and as a CQB weapon I wouldn't trade the trigger response of a GBB for anything.
  12. That M4 looks utterly horrendous... No delta ring or anything? Is it the Boyes line one or what? Can't see people being happy if that's the new GBBR...
  13. I don't think they're worth it at all unless the limit is 425 or higher, having minimum engagement rules just totally kills them for me unless I'm going to be able to get a significant range advantage. My regular sites allow full auto up to 370fps and DMRs are right up there with bolt actions at 500, so the scope of effectiveness for DMRs is ridiculously vast assuming you can tune an AEG to be consistent and reliable at 500fps. That said, most people will keep them around the 425 mark anyway just to allow themselves the luxury of visiting numerous sites in the area, since DMRs at 500fps is fairly rare, and as you can probably imagine, no one wants to dismantle a well tuned V2 to change a heavy as fuck spring... I think I'd certainly rather shoot myself in the ball sack than have to piss around with heavy springs in version 2s on a regular basis. I think if I were going to get a DMR I'd base it around a P* system, or possibly a GBBR, since it's easier to set the fps when you don't have to deal with springs.
  14. They look pretty similar lol, the OS is a little sleeker and more boring looking, and it makes it seem like there's a huge empty space under it because there's no lever to flick between 1-4x mag. Doesn't help that a lot of the Brit Forces impressionists are just compromising and buying the DR for their L85 Afghan builds, even though they're wrong. Just helps circulate the incorrect info. I don't think many people actually realise that there are multiple different types of Elcan Spectre. I'd love to know more about the micro red dots the OS models have fitted on them, I imagine they're still Docter sights, but the little case thing they're put in looks enormous. I always thought it was funny they called it a Light Weight Day-sight, when light is the absolute last thing it is.
  15. The OS is the L85 standard optic, DR is a different model. In response to the OP though, any full blown scope is massively overkill for an average AEG, even ACOGs and stuff have more zoom that we require them for. In reality 4x zoom is used to engage out to 600m lol, we barely shoot 50. Red dots are the way forward, for all situations. They're quicker and easier to sight in than irons, they often have better adjustability and they're easily accurate enough to zero reasonably well on an airsoft gun. If you're going to use a zoom, it'll be more use for scouting things out and checking that the lump of log you think might be someone's head, is actually a person's head. It doesn't really offer you that much over a red dot in terms of ease to hit the target.
  16. ^^^ That A lot of new players think that because of the weight, heavier BBs will get pulled down out of the air quicker, but we have hop! The Magnus effect, fighting against gravity. So as long as your hop can send the BBs straight, that can adequately fight gravity. The shot only has to fight air resistance, and a heavier BB takes more air to slow it down. Plus, they might start off going slower, but they carry the same energy, and they maintain their velocity, and thus their energy, for longer because of their weight.
  17. I've been tempted to buy it since it's been released for the PS4, but I watched someone else do a full start to end playthrough, so at the same time it seems like a bit of a waste of money.
  18. Aye, MP5 will add another £500 onto that with ease, and then I need to get a pistol. Guessing they used the Browning Hi Power, if indeed they were issued one at all, and typically, the correct model doesn't exist in airsoft to my knowledge Might just modernise it a bit and get a Sig P226...
  19. There's an airsoft mask company called Cactus Hobbies who have made a face mask that's modelled to look like a gas mask. Take a look at that, might be more suited to what you need. I've been thinking doing a 1980 Embassy Siege loadout lately, with the new WE MP5, and I wanted the gas mask as well so I'd look the part, but I want to make them breathable... Do you guys think it'd be better to buy an S10 and try to modify it, or get someone like Heroshark or DevTac in Japan to just custom make me an airsoft mask, S10 replica from the ground up, with build in fans and mesh lenses and shit like that? Once I've found a job it'll be probably be a money no object project, but obviously if it can be done on the cheap to a satisfactory standard then that's always going to be the more appealing option.
  20. I've got one of these, except painted a desert camo pattern, with the silly wheels removed, and a painted pilot and far more realistic cockpit added. Looks the absolute shit. But I don't have any photos because it's at my dads and I've not flown it in about 5 years =[ Might get back into it when I got a job, as I just found out there's a brushless motor upgrade
  21. I've never seen this happen personally, but I will never take my sights off someone until I see their hand up. If you shoot someone, lower your gun, and they turn to shoot you, maybe they assume you haven't seen them and they were only made aware by some other noise that wasn't in fact your BB hitting them. Obviously it was that, but maybe they're just playing coy about it because they don't want to lose, or it could be a genuine lack of awareness. Who knows? But I don't lower my gun. If you've already got your muzzle trained on them then the threat of being shot again if they make a move tends to deter them. If they make a move, just shoot them again. It's a shame that because of a minority, we find ourselves forced to shoot people more times than need be, because it's that aggressive response when applied to someone totally honest that people get pissy and the whole thing just grows worse exponentially. It's why marshalling is so important. If site staff can't properly deal with cheaters then you often end up with both teams playing like total dicks by 3pm.
  22. How much is a HFC P226 brand new? 'Cos people are unlikely to risk buying one second hand for any more than they could just buy a new one, regardless of what's been done to it, or what the extras are. Same goes for any other airsoft gun. People would sooner buy one new than risk getting conned in a second hand sale. It's like playing deal or no deal, weighing up the risk.
  23. If I was going to stick with irons I'd at least want to get some that glowed in the dark or something, dot sights are a must for night games and dark indoor sites imo. Those situations when it's too dark to be sure exactly where you're pointing the gun, because you have no visual points of reference, something you can aim with that's illuminated is invaluable. Irons are generally considered worse because you have to line up two points with your target, instead of just 1 with an optic. You also have to have your head directly in line with the irons in order to use them, whereas with dot sights there's a degree of movement you're free to make and still be able to see through it and aim accurately. Though irons aren't necessarily worse for accuracy or anything like that, how close together they are will make a difference to your accuracy, the further apart the front and rear post, the better the accuracy you'll get from using them. Well, the accuracy of the gun will remain the same, but your ability to utilise the accuracy will increase the further apart your irons are. Anyway though, you can get a pretty varied range of holo/dot sights for anything from £10 and up, have a look for EOTechs or Aimpoints, they're the more common ones, I think WE T1 Aimpoint replicas go for about £25 or so. As for which is the best, that's all down to personal preference. Just pick one you like the look of to start with, they all work in the same way.
  24. S'gonna be a case of trial and error with a handful of barrels and hop rubbers I'm afraid. Chances are it'll be fine out of the box, I'd recommend actually playing a game with a gun before thinking of upgrading it, otherwise how are you to know which areas need improving on it?
