I did have it working briefly, but the wiring was being sh*t still so I couldn't adjust the motor height, so the gun was screeching like a mother bitch. The trigger response is impressive though, but the burst function is woefully lower than my expectation, it either doesn't work properly at all (works like a regular auto mode) or only fires 2 shots instead of three. Which sucks, 'cos I bought it almost exclusively for the sake of the burst function. Is there a way to make the burst more consistent? I'm thinking of cutting the spring down slightly so I'll have to see if that helps.

sh*t man, that sucks a bit =[

Y'know, I thought that the ASCU's were meant to be high end quality upgrade parts? But the wiring they come with is SH*T! Monumentally sh*t! It's made out of some sort of >sh*t< multi-strand tin wire that snaps if you so much as touch it, so I've now had to re-wire and re-solder the motor connectors 5 f*cking times and they STILL keep F*CKING snapping! I feel more like throwing my M16 against a tree than bothering to do anything with it anymore. I'm going to send it to Patrol Base to get it serviced, shimmed, rewired and everything basically - if I do it myself I WILL smash it against a tree.

Just got my M16 working, I tested the circuit and everything by installing the motor etc etc. Obviously to fasten the gun back together I had to take down the motor and grip etc to get the gearbox back in the lower receiver. Only problem is, one of the bastarding motor connection leads decided it was going to rape the motor shaft like a retard, jamming the motor in the grip, meaning I couldn't get the motor out of the grip, meaning I couldn't get the gearbox in the gun. So I had to muscle the motor out of the grip, tearing the wire asunder in the process and now I have to do all the f*cking wiring all over again! So in short - The appauling design of Version 2 gearboxes.

I've got Premium and I've been fighting my way though all the new weapon unlocks, I have to say that the SCAR L and L86 have gained a place in my top favourites, they're like ruddy automatic sniper rifles! Not played any of the new maps yet, need to get some games done to unlock the JNG 90 and the LSAT... Though I'm not particularly turned on by either of them, or the maps, so it might be a while before I bother. WorMongers, feel free to add me - Bullet4MyEnemy

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Just ordered a new selector plate for my M16 because the stock one doesn't have a metal piece on it, a metal piece which I NEED for my ASCU to work Speaking of which, is a G&P 120 motor good enough for use with an ASCU, or will I need to upgrade it? It'll be tugging on an M120 spring once it's all assembled. Anyway, I also ordered some gun grease, silicone spray and 3 bottles of .25g Blasters, can't believe Landwarrior had everything in stock tbh, it's usually a bitch getting hold of .25s, I'm expecting an email saying they don't have enough any minute lol. -
F*cking pissed off. Just spent about 45 minutes to an hour fitting the Version 1 ASCU into my M16, only to find that the c*nting selector plate I have is entirely plastic, when the one I NEED for it to work has to have a brass section on it. Meaning I won't have a working M16 for when I go skirmishing tomorrow...

Just ordered myself a sexy new chest rig in multicam: http://www.military1st.co.uk/fy-vt-c003-cb...yote-brown.html Think I might get a multicam UBACS and some combats next month. Edit: Wrong link, here's the multicam one: http://www.military1st.co.uk/combat-gear-c...g-multicam.html -
If I bootcamp it though, won't only half the specs carry to the windows portion? I'm not sure I even want to, I'm worried it'll get riddled with viruses and stuff like my old laptop did, within a year. I'm just not handy enough with PCs to do anything properly without being a risk of completely FUBARing it.

I've got an i7 Quadcore (3.2ghz-I think) and 8gb RAM, no idea what the graphics card is, which is why I mentioned it.
-
I have a Macbook though. Which I'm sure is more than capable or running it on high, maybe apart from the graphics card. That is, if Arma were Mac compatible
-
I assumed you'd already got this absolutely ages ago, I swear it's been in your info section for months.

I don't have a gaming PC, as you well know

They could make all the extra bits DLC packs that you have to pay extra for? Like an accessories DLC or something. Or it'd be cool if there were entire army DLC packs, so you could change your skin to British kit and use all the British weapons, like the L85 with all the right stuff, a Sig P226 as a sidearm, L86 and M110/SAW (though I guess that's already in the game, as in the GPMG...) L115A3 sniper, again I guess that's just the L96 since they've modelled it with a fluted barrel... They can't say no to that idea. They get to charge us for it and everything. I'd like to see that as well, I was really impressed with the MoH Campaign controls, you could lean, slide into cover, change fire mode etc it was really good! The only console game I've ever known with all those features. It's a shame the multiplayer was completely different, and sh*t.

I think you all ought to sign into Battlelog and like this thread, if we get a lot they might actually consider it and that would be awesome. https://getsatisfaction.com/battlefield3/to...ds_its_upgrades Battlefield 3 would be the only game with all the L85's correct attachments and with the option to customise it as you like with any mixture of them all. I have proposed changing the ACOG mount to the correct one, adding a SUSAT and Spectre DR to the optics listings, replacing the grip and bipod with a grip-pod and simply altering which effects are enabled depending on which is selected, and changing the torch and laser attachments to an LLM01, the function of which would either be torch or laser depending on which is chosen. I've also suggested removing the burst mode because it sickens me, removing the rails from the standard hand guard and lastly, changing the hand guard to the DD RIS when any accessories are mounted. I know it's a lot to ask, but now that it's been suggested, all we need to do is spread this link around like wild fire and hope that 1000 likes down the line we succeed in making one of the best (AND ONLY) current arcade-style "realistic shooter" games out there, that actually presents our service rifle correctly.

Thanks. Can't wait to get the rest of the parts. It's a shame I can't show you how it shoots, you'd love it even more lol. Edit: @Nick - FPSRussia's next video is going to be about the ACR, which as far as I'm aware is the same as a Masada, no?
-
Thanks vair much, I know I like your M4 too, that definitely is what they should look like, Finius' looks like a really awkward to have sh*t lol. I nearly got an M4 instead of my L85, I'd have run a more or less identical set up but with a fore grip. Think I'd have gone ICS, which make is yours?

Just joined photobucket - Saw a thread saying how to properly upload full size images. I'd been wondering for ages how you guys were all adding more than 5, picking where on the screen to place them and them not popping up as tiny, crappy, size reduced boxes... I are fail. But yeah. I still have to stick my new ACOG with doctor sight on here, if it EVER arrives, as well as the new flash hider I'm waiting on from RSOV, but other than that it's complete. Unless you count me still not having any EMAGs as incomplete... Which I sort of do. But who the hell can afford to spend £200+ on individual magazines? Anyway, here it is: Lame quality? I know. I only have my sh*tty phone camera. I don't think they're that bad though...

Just ordered myself a new L85 flash hider from RSOV, anyone got an ETA on the shipping? -
Gun make and model: As above, L85A2, made by ICS. FPS: It can be changed to one of 3 possible options. With the stock spring I've had mine chrono'd at 345 on the lowest setting, 370 on the middle and I've never had it checked on the highest because it's got to be over 370 which is my site limit. If I were to make a guess, the highest setting is probably around 400 to 410. Bear in mind these tests were not done with the stock barrel, but with a twist barrel which I think have a bore diameter of 6.05 if I remember correctly. Hop up: The hop is adjustable of course and is adjusted just like most M4 platforms, with a dial that you twist. Anti-clockwise for hop on, clockwise for hop off. The annoying thing about this is that the stopper that ought to prevent you from being able to turn the wheel forever in one direction, is a very small nub. So if you twist the wheel fast, you just brush over the stopper without even realising you've done it. Meaning that the hop can seem very iffy and crap at first until you figure this out. Out of the box I also had issues with the hop sending all my shots sky high even when the dial was turned completely off. However, this can be remedied by using .25s, which I would recommend doing anyway. By buying a new hop rubber - I'm using a Madbull Blue. Changing your hop up nub to a better, harder one and finally, By packing out the hole that the spring sits in that pushes on the hop arm, to make the spring more effective. Mag Capacity: One of this gun's best features is that it comes supplied with 2 470 round high capacity magazines, it is the only L85 that comes like this as far as I'm aware. Battery: With the standard hand guard there is ample space for a large 8.4v battery. With the Daniel Defence RIS fitted your battery space becomes VERY small and tight, I use 7.2v 1450mah LiPo batteries, they're just the right size to fit along the bottom inside edge of the RIS and if you're not rambo you can probably make it last you all day, I always do. Plastic/Metal/Both: Just like the real thing, metal where it ought to be, plastic where it ought to be. Simple as. My opinion and overall comments: Well, where do I start? Out of the box this thing is very good, there is no call for any form of upgrade. Just simply putting a tight bore barrel in this thing ups the range substantially. 40m is a breeze even in stock form. Mine after upgrades can push 60m and still retain reasonable accuracy. Although a lot of the parts are proprietary they are very good, some people may be disappointed that you can't change the hop unit but there's really no need. It's the easiest gun in the universe to work on. Just remove two body pins, take the stock plate off, separate the upper and lower halves, disconnect the motor and then the entire gearbox just slides right out in one piece. Fully stripping it to change the spring tension can be done in less than 2 minutes, easily. Due to the adjustable spring it also means you can take the spring out of the gearbox before opening it up, meaning there's no chance of the spring exploding the gearbox everywhere and making you lose any gears or shims or springs etc. This is my favourite and most used gun and I've poured one hell of a lot of time and money into it, it's the gun that keeps on giving. It has its problems but it more than makes up for them in performance. The internals are amazingly good, the gearbox is built like a bomb shelter, the motor it comes with is the kind of thing you'd buy as a high end upgrade, everything's just utterly bullet proof. All parts are easily replaceable if anything goes wrong, gear sets, hop unit, trigger mechanism etc you can even buy the entire gearbox and motor combo as one item which I think is great. To top it all off though, it's an L85. You just can't ask for more. Buy one now, all of you. Overall rating: Once you've put the work into it to make it shoot as you want, it's definitely worthy of 10/10. Additional stuffs: Problems and solutions: Here are a list of problems I have run into and what I did to sort them out - Over hop - I mentioned this above, under the hop up section. Solution? Heavier ammo, pack out the spring, change the rubber and the nub. Double feeding - Mine has done this a lot, on and off at random. Solution? Again, use .25s, I can't understand why this works but it does. Also ensure your magazines are working correctly and that the gearbox is seated as far forward as possible. A lot of the time small performance niggles can be solved by taking the gun apart and putting it back together again. It's like some sort of weird gun placebo surgery. The gun thinks you're fixing it, so it works. I can't explain it. The biggest problem I had manifested itself thusly - The gun would not work. Everything was in place, but the trigger did nothing. After a LOT of dismantling the trigger mech, the gearbox, checking my batteries, following the entire circuit through to find a break etc etc I realised that it was being caused by the two connector pins on top of the trigger mechanism. These pins cause the circuit to break when the gun is taken apart into upper and lower halves, they can become bent slightly through rigorous assembly and take down. I change my fps a lot for the different sites I play at, so from taking the gun apart so much they had bent just enough so that they missed their contact when the gun was closed. Just get a pair of pliers and bend them upwards. Never had the problem again since I did that. If you have a problem I've not mentioned then PM me about it, I can probably help you figure it out, either that or I'll have had it happen to me and just forgotten to add it to this list. I'll update it as I run into issues and find fix for them. For fear of causing you all to commit suicide at the sight of so much text I will hold back on the skirmish report until anyone wants to know more about it, but I will say that it's the most beastly gun ever. Thanks for reading, let me know if I missed anything. For more info about my L85, see my L85 rundown thread, here.

My Element replica LLM01 has arrived in the post today, going to get some batteries for it from Boots tomorrow after work and pray to the non-existant lordy lord that it works. I've heard a few reports of them being DOA. In fact more than half the videos I've found about them have been about them being DOA... But fingers crossed!

Angry because I can't be a PC gamer like Tariq and have all those awesome PC exclusive simulation games, like Arma2, BF2:PR, the DCS series... =[ I've been watching SideStrafe on YouTube play the DayZ mod and it looks pretty interesting. Quite a lot of moral dilemmas to think about, really my kinda game. WHY DON'T THEY MAKE GAMES MAC COMPATIBLE?!?!
-
Yeah my L85 is absolutely amazing, I love it to pieces. The amount of cash I've thrown at it I imagine it'll last me forever as well, I'll just keep buying new parts as they break. In fact I might buy a few gear sets, gearboxes, motors and all that kinda stuff in advance in case by the time it all breaks they've stopped selling the parts lol. Which parts did you modify? 'Cos if all the internals are all the same it ought to be an absolute piece of piss to just put the hop and gearbox from your carbine into your LSW, ought to just be a completely straight swap. So if you ever fancy taking it out again you could just do that. You can get the ICS L85 hop unit, trigger mech block and even the entire gearbox and motor assembly online from a hell of a lot of places, all in for all the internals it'd cost you less than £150 to replace everything. Could be something to consider? I'd quite like to have a play with one for the afternoon, I held one a guy had a few weeks ago and was surprised how light it was compared to my IW with all the extra sh*t on it lol. I always thought the carbine style hand guard looked too wide though, kinda puts me off its aesthetics.

I'm happy because I've FINALLY heard back from G1098airsoft.com about the LLM and ACOG I ordered 10 days ago, they're getting sent out this week. So fingers crossed they both get here before the weekend. I only need the new L85 flash hider and a small fortune's worth of EMAGs and my L85 will be well and truly finished.
