Reading through this again, it's quite interesting how much our experiences have differed. I might write a review for the IW at some point over the next few days.

I stopped going when I got banned from their Facebook page for going to another local site. The owner of Phoenix is a bit of an elitist tit so I didn't think he deserved my custom anymore. He was also immensely unfair and aggressive in his attitude towards the people who took up the site Phoenix moved out of, but having talked to them about it and got to know them, they're all great guys and Skirmish is still a great site, my favourite in fact. It's not like I was permanently defecting to another site, I was just making some fact finding trips to all the sites in the area to try and sort out deals for when I've got the Uni society up and running. If he'd not been such an arse about it he could've benefitted from the society visiting en-masse on a monthy basis once it's up and running, but after what happened I'm going to steer clear, which is a shame 'cos it'd be a fantastic skirmish site for sniping. If not the best. Had they set up any bunkers or tents or anything when you went? Last time I went it was more or less a completely bare forest, only about 3 small trenches dug, one tent and some wrecked freight containers, the rest was untouched.

Nah, not been for a while. Seems a little far for you to go though. How'd you find it?
-
Aye, no worries. Though confusion was definitely had lol.

I think MGs are miles better since the patch, before the patch I considered the M240B and the PKP practically useless, but now they're like fully automatic sniper rifles! Recoil when you use them without a bipod is a bit over the top though, in real life after you'd fired the first burst off it would be quite easy to adjust for it and keep the muzzle down, especially considering the weight of the weapons. I reckon they made them hard to use because otherwise they'd be too good. They'd just straight up outclass everything. All the LMGs are long range, accurate, very damaging and all have huge ammo capacities meaning you can go for ages without reloading, so making the recoil crazy without using a bipod seems sensical. It also forces people to play the role more realistically, finding a good position to lay down good long blasts of surpressive fire, which I think helps promote the nature of the game and discourages CoD fags who'd usually Rambo around with an M60 and massacre everyone. There's no room for people like that in Battlefield, it's one of the things I love about it. Craig said: "Yeah, an MP5 is needed. I may get it (the new DLC) if my other mates on the Xbox do, but I'm looking at getting Spec Ops In The Line, and Future Soldier just arrived (came out), so you know. Seriously, what's so hard to understand about that? You all act like he's one of those Asian guys who try and sell you stuff with broken english that no one can understand, but really, it's just a case of there being little/no grammar and punctuation, all you have to do is add it in when you're reading it and it makes perfect sense. On another note though, has anyone played the Spec Ops demo? 'Cos I think it's one of the worst games I've ever played... The AK has a burst mode, the charging handle on the UMP moves with the ejection port... I could've died when I saw that. The M4 rear iron sight is also mounted insanely far forward, are they trying to make the weapon inaccurate, or what? It plays like Gears of War and the weapons are so wrong they might as well be using made up ones, so I don't see why you don't just play GoW instead. Not sure what to make of Ghost Recon, I think they went TOO FAR into the future, turning invisible is just stupid and having all those vision modes is stupid as well. Why didn't they just re-release Summit Strike from the original Xbox and then add a "God mode" cheat to it, or something? It just feels like you're cheating, but the cheats are built in. I fail to understand how you can ever lose unless you're the worst gamer ever.

The only one I'm sure of is the L86A2 LSW. Which is bound to be a support weapon, but there must be at least 1 new gun for all the other classes as well, right? There's probably an online list somewhere that tells you what they all are. I want there to be some new pistols, there needs to be a Sig, it's stupid that they're never in games when they're so well used around the world. Edit: Just found this: http://battlefield.wikia.com/wiki/Battlefi..._Close_Quarters Looks like there's some pretty nice new additions. I think the SCAR-L, L86 and HK417 are my most anticipated from the list, quite surprised the 417 is listed as being a recon unlock though... I mean I know it's meant for use as a DMR, but if the SCAR-H and G3 aren't in the recon class it seems stupid to put that there. I wonder if it'll retain its auto selection. 'Cos If not then it seems pointless, as it'll be almost exact the same as the MK.11. I wish the MP5K was just a regular MP5 though =[ I was right annoyed when they changed the Karkand DLC from an MP5 to a G53 at the 11th hour.

I'll be getting it, I've got 800 points left from the last BF3 DLC that I've been saving for it. Not a fan of CQB COD style maps, not even slightly, but I'll give it a go. Main turn on for me is the new guns.

I just went through that kids videos and I actually laughed out loud at this one: It's absolutely brilliant xD

I'm liking the look of the M3, looks a bit like the lights used on BF3. Can anyone explain lumens to me? This M3 I've found is 85 lumens and I remember seeing an MP5 hand guard tac light that was 65 lumens a while ago... How many lumens is a good amount? How many would there need to be for it to still be blinding in day light? Just as a point of reference.

Just got my hands on my new MEU aka Meurial , she's pretty damn godly. I can get through around 40 full power shots on one CO2 capsule and the kick is so staggering that it honestly feels like the gun is going to explode in your hands... Well, you don't doubt it's build quality, you can tell it can take it, but Jesus, the kick is immense. Range and accuracy are more than good enough for a side arm and I've been using .25s in it and it's been performing better than any other pistol I've ever used. Oh and it's LOUD, loudest gun I've had, even over GBBRs. Only one problem, can't figure out how to strip it for hop adjustment. Not that I need to, but it'd be nice to know. Anyone recommend me a good pistol tac light and holster for it? Interested in getting a threaded barrel as well, is that possible? I can also see why people don't like Viper holsters now, mine really doesn't fit this pistol in it correctly at all, it's a very loose fit and the straps don't properly secure it. However, if you own a Sig, the Viper is perfect.

I know, I guess I ought to have expressed distaste in the design in general instead of just hating on G&P. I shouldn't have chosen an ICS L85 as my first gun to work on, the simplicity of it makes everything else seem like a terrible chore.

Red dot sights actually work better the further from your head they are... Well, unless they're like, across a field or something. They don't need to be near your eye to work as there is no zoom, they just project a red dot onto your target. You don't even need to close an eye, just get the dot in your peripheral vision, line it up with the target and boom. They're insanely satisfying to use and work amazingly well. Next time I'm at skirmish you can have a go with mine if you like, it'll go on your AK fine, though it might be a little high. We'll have to see. The advantage of having it far forward is that it leaves your vision clear to see more stuff to your left and right, as there isn't a big black optic blocking your view, so you can spot and react to threats much faster.

Angry because my M16 is a piece of crap. I'm quite sure that G&P designed the gearbox in a way that makes it purposely annoying to get to.

Magpul, noooo!

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
Airsoft-Ed replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Just picked up some stuff from the arms fair. Got myself a huge bag for transporting my kit and a couple of lipos for the weekender, also picked up an M120 spring and an ASCU version 1 for my M16, it might actually be worth owning once I've chucked those bits in. So long as the stock motor is good enough for the ASCU anyway... Also managed to grab the LAST CO2 M1911 magazine in the entire place. Whilst there I was talking to a guy from AI with the most awesome L85 ever, so I got some pointers from him on where to get a new ACOG with a doctor sight and an LLM laser/light unit, so since getting back I've also ordered them. Ended up about £400 out of pocket, so I hope everything ends up being as good as I hoped. -
Yeah, this week apparently. They said the shop will be open as soon as Tuesday and it's in Gloucestershire. The other coolest thing was that utterly awesome L85 owned by that guy from AI, who told me exactly where to get all the cool stuff I needed to finish mine, so I've got an LLM unit on the way and an awesome ACOG and Doctor sight combo from G1098airsoft.com, now I just need to find some rail ladders and it'll be done! =D I tried to find you before I left, but I couldn't. I got a couple of new lipos, an M120 for my M16, a version 1 ASCU also for my M16, a huge bag for all my kit and a mag for my yet to arrive MEU.

Good time at the arms fair, learned about some new shops, got a few purchases in mind to add yet more gucci sh*t to my L85, also got some odd bits and bobs, didn't find a lot of what I wanted. BUT, Arclight was there! Am I the only one thinks that's cool?
-
Congrats man, I wish I could be arsed to take my test =[
-
Just ordered my new pistol, now I just have to hope I can find some mags for it at The Arms Fair tomorrow.
-
Arms Fair this weekend =D Also, just saw on Patrol Base's website that there's a customer testimonial from Dave! Haha, biased opinion much? I thought that was pretty hilarious.
-
At least all your aggression about it will help you get into the forces lol, every cloud has a silver lining.
-
I'm not looking forward to fitting my M5 RAS if I ever get around to ordering it... I've had nothing but bad experiences from G&P so far =[
-
I've just finished the 4th of my 6 assignments, only two to go and I have a 9 day gap to finish the next one and then a 19 day gap to finish the one after that. I'm practically free! Oh and my UKARA ought to be sorted out by the end of the week as well. Über looking forward to my awesome new KJW MEU

I know you're aware the gun is crap already, but I once bought a gravity fed P90 when I was about 14 and it was absolutely the crappest thing ever, the BBs were bashed away from the feeding hole by the back and forth catapult-type motion of the tappet plate. Also, it's hilarious that they say it can shoot 30 metres... 30 metres downwards off the top of a 30m high building maybe. Also Alexb111 - £15 for only 1000 .30s? That's insanely expensive, I used to be able to buy the same amount for about £7 from a paintball shop not too far away, either the shop is a general rip off, or the quality of that ammo is utterly off the charts amazing. Which I highly doubt.

Just got paid. Time to think about ordering my MEU and a couple of CO2 mags =D
