As my GBBR pulse rifle build seems to be of interest to a few I thought I'd do a build thread sort of thing. Bear with me , I dont do 'tech' so the order of posts and pictures might well be a bit random ! I'm starting with a WE Thompson that I've been gifted. It's seen better days and came a cropper when an hpa experiment went very wrong, however I should be able to sort it given time. The upper reciever has cracked in a couple of places so I've ordered a replacement. Untill that arrives i've done a very rough and ready strengthening job with some scrap angle ally. Looks a bit frankenstein, but will hold the upper together for now which means I can crack on and get everything mocked up then fit the repacement when it's in pieces for final prep and paint. What I started with Snow Wolf body kit, there are lots of bits in the box ! Very basic strengthening job to hold the upper together for now. You can just see the cracks. The puls rifle outer barrel mounts via an aluminium adapter, on the aeg this also mounts onto the hop unit extension. The holes on the side of the block take M3 bolts that also secure the front brackets to the body. I plan to drill and tap the botom of the block and secure it to the handguard extension on the tommy to help support everything although it seems pretty robust just bolted to the body. In order to hold the hop unit and inner barrel into the GBBR upper I chopped the mounting lug off the spare barrel that came with the Thompson. This them mounts and secures the hop / inner in the standard fashion. If I had access to a lathe I would have shortened and turned down the outer so it would fit the mounting block in the way the aeg one does.

Sorry missed the bit about the hop ! The base gun I was gifted came with 2 outer barrels the original and a steel one. I've cut the boss off the original that the hop unit fits into and installed that back into the receiver. At the moment the large block that holds the outer barrel is secured by its bolts through the body . I plan to drill and tap into the block so I can bolt it to the bar that would hold the front hand guard on the thompson.) That is fixed perminantly on my base gun due to the damege it recieved before it came to me. ) probably not strictly necisary tbh as everything feels very solid , but might as well. I'll get some pictures of it when I strip it back down.
-
Yep, that'll do it 😂 I'll take a load of pics when I strip it down Certainly plan to do something with it. I'm wondering about one of those micro launchers that sit under a pistol at the moment, but that's liable to change yet 🤣

The body kit is the Snow wolf one, I did find a set of (very) basic instructions on line . But If there is interest in the build I can take a load of pics when it's back apart and do some notes .

First mock up with the GBBR thompson. The base gun needs work yet to get it running properly, but fits OK Ammo counter resets when mag in

You made the point that you are aware of the law on power , but were asking for recomendations on a spring that would break that law. Maybe a thread that asked about converting your gun to a DMR would have been more apropriate and stating that you intend to semi lock it before upping the power would have rung less alarm bells. This is a decent forum with good people on it , but none of us are going to intentionally help you break the law .
-
As above, put an M150 in a full auto capable gun and you've got a section 5 firearm. Or have you locked it to semi auto only ? If it's for proper target practice on your own land an air rifle is a much better option. Did you ever buy the chrono you were talking about after you were made aware of the 1.3j legal limit on your previuos thread ?

Couple of pictures from last week, pretty much my standard rig. Army surpless clothing ,DPM this time, basic plate carrier (cant remember the brand) loaded with surpless stanag pouches. Topped off with the L119A2 GBBR and my G18 in a belt holster. Sometimes I run mtp, or Auscam or a mix of any of them, but otherwise the setup remains consistant unless I'm running one of the 249's then I dont bother with the carrier.

Shouldn't matter much which way round the main spring is tbh. Might have a very slight affect on fps but should not cause feeding issues. Did you check the compression iwhen you had the gearbox apart ?
-
Was this happening in the safe zone ? 'cos anyone doing that should be banned imediatly
-
Just got to decide what to do with the grenade launcher. Cut down shotty ? one of those mini grenade launchers intended to go under a pistol ? moscart launcher ? not sure about that last one as I want to keep it looking correct.

Well we could take off and nuke the entire site from orbit 😁 But since I am very easily led and have no will power to resist, a pulse rifle it will be then 😂
-
No worries, completely disregard the whole 1.3j limit thing lol. If the BB is jamming in the hop unit it might be that you have too much hop wound on , I had exactly that issue with an M249 yesterday, try taking some hop off and see if that helps. Otherwise it could be an issue with the BB's themselves , some are much better than others . Just to clarify was it shooting fine with the new barrel and hop rubber before the spring change ? When firing without a mag in can you see the nozzle moving backwards and forwards if you look down the magwell ?
-
So, Pulse rifle then ? 🤣
-
New project, been gifted a broken WE GBBR Thompson. Upper reciever is cracked so I've ordered a new one, now do I get some decent wood (fnar fnar) and rebuild it as a Thompson ........ Or do I use this, Snow wolf M41 A body kit ? GBBR Pulse rifle anyone ?
-
Lol I miss stuff all the time 🤣Very true, and if the OP is in the USA then not an issue (state dependant probably)

I took it from the answer that he is in the UK

Doesn't matter if you play at sites or just in your garden. If you have a RIF capable of full auto firing that is producing over 1.3j you are technically in posession of a section 5 firearm. Whilst plod is unlikely to come knocking and do checks It can happen. You don't need a a charge of a firearms offence, and neither tbh does the sport. Stick an M100 spring in that will get you to a decent power level and should keep you legal. Will also put less stress on the gearbox and battery. You might try it on a lipo to see if that improves the locking up, does it do it with different mags ? Define underpowered ? these usually come out of the box at about 1j which is plenty for the garden tbh. If it's lacking range have you adjusted the hop ? I know you replaced the rubber.
-
Just going to ask where in the world you are based ? 'cos an M120 spring will take you way over UK power limits for a gun capable of full auto . What battery are you using ?
-
I'd check out AK2M4, he is on here but has a site to look up. Does a good range of springs that do seem very good, I've used a few of his.
-
Yep that'll be the spring and is over 1.4 jouls so it is indeed hot. You will ned to try a weaker spring , probably M100 , or you could lop a couple of coils off the one thats in there.

First game this year for me today, waited for it to warm up just a touch ! Great day, 50 plus players which is a decent turn out for our site. Good comunication and tactical play by both teams , we won the 3 games I played. No aggro, aparantly there was a bit of non hit taking in one game but the marshalls had a word and that was that, no one screaming 'call your fucking hits' Fun day all round, my boneyard Specna 249 performed very well once I realised it was jamming 'cos I had too much hop on 🤣 and the GBBR L119 A2 got any number of nice kills , there by proving again that WE make good GBBR's and that you can use them in the winter ! It was the first run out for the Specna and the L119 so very pleased with them both.

As above, no idea what psi ratings are for them, I always thought red awsa closer to MAP gas as opposed to 'normal' propane. I certainly find power level goes up with Red and it is better in colder weather

Can you just run the mags without the bases ? been awhile since I looked at my Combat master so can't remember (although mine runs green gas mags)
