  1. Like you say, strip it clean it and relube. Personally I'd replace the hop rubber as a matter of course after that long stored. Mine both run Maple leaf rubbers and Omega nubs . Mags may well need some work on seals after that long too, see if they hold gas and go from there.
  2. My go to for barrels are the Maple leaf crazy jets, used them in several GBBR's and most of my pistols. Also use M/L rubber along with their Omega nub .
  3. I think from memory it was a TNT hop unit, probably a couple of years since we fitted it . Have to say it made a definite difference to performance. Mags wise , I tend to take 5 mags out for a game with my GBBR's and a speed loader for a quick top up in quiet moments. I ususally get 2and a bit BB fills to a gas fill so I dont bother taking extra gas with me.
  4. I always keep some WE valves in my spares stash. Usually just add a couple to an order if I need anything from KY airsoft
  5. On the RAtech front, I've got an RA tech trigger box in one of my L119's , only fitted it because I had it handy and wanted to try it. The original was still going strong and is now in my spares draw. However one that i fitted to a mate's was bloody awefull. I ended up using the RA tech trigger parts in the stock WE trigger box Interestingly I've not had a single part failure across any of my WE GBBRs and the L119's in particular get alot of use. They are my usual guns at a game day, i rarely run aeg's now, even in winter I still usually run GBBR's . Mate's L119 needed part of the trigger mech replacing due to someone trying to force it safe while not cocked, so user error rather than failure in normal use. If something does break, I'll replace with another stock part The same same mate has the Scar H, it's been very reliable, but we did swap out the hop unit for an aftermarket one to improve accuracy,
  6. I'm not sure they always come back working TBH. I do my own teching and will work on mates guns for them and I've been handed a couple that had aparantly been to a pro and were awfull .

    We L85 Mag Issue

Yes the L85 should lock back on empty. Benning to look like the mag catch Top of the tape is where my magwell comes to , looks about the same as your 'lifted' mark. If the top tape is with thye mag sat on the catch I'd say your mag catch is buggered.

That's a significamt difference in height. The pictures with the mag in from above, is that with the mag 'lifted' or sat on the catch ? Nozzle prong certainly looks the same as mine. If you have the mag in the low position (sat on the catch) does the gun fire ok if an empty mag is set to dry fire ? If the valve knocker ries over the output valve rather than hits it that might point to a mag location issue which would suggest the mag catch.

Couple of pics of mine with a loaded mag in, that's in the resting position sat on the mag catch.

    We L85 Mag Issue

Unless the mag is sitting very low once in position which could be the catch, it still feels like a nozzle issue to me .
  11. Just following on from my last post, my mate reported a significant improvement in range and accuracy after I had given it a go through. He certainly nailed me with it a couple of times ! That is still on stock barrel and hop rubber running Geoffs .30's, so I'm inclined to think any gains from a M/L barrel and or rubber are going to be marginal.

    We L85 Mag Issue

Just looked at mine, when i first put a loaded mag in the bolt release bar does rotate up, however when I let the mag drop into it's 'resting' position , IE sitting on the mag catch, the release bar returns to normal resting position. Obviously with an empty mag the bar remains raised even when mag sat on catch. Are the mags working ok in the M16 ?

    We L85 Mag Issue

If it does it with all the mags , and still does it with upward pressure on the mags, I'd be looking at the prong on the loading nozzle to see if its damaged.
  14. Same, I've used them several times with no issues.
  15. I would assume so.
  16. That's a very good point, at 11.1 V when it's under load it could well be dropping low enough to trigger the LVC. Gun looks to be one of these https://www.bing.com/ck/a?!&&p=8343dead8f63cfd8JmltdHM9MTcxMzA1MjgwMCZpZ3VpZD0zNTU5ZTUyYy04MDJiLTZlMzUtMjk3YS1mNzQ5ODFlMDZmNDUmaW5zaWQ9NTIxNQ&ptn=3&ver=2&hsh=3&fclid=3559e52c-802b-6e35-297a-f74981e06f45&psq=g%26g+sbr8&u=a1aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cucGF0cm9sYmFzZS5jby51ay9nLWFuZC1nLWFybWFtZW50LWVtZy1zZWVraW5zLXByZWNpc2lvbi1zYnI4LXdpdGgtOS1yYWls&ntb=1 Dud battery or bad charger if it's a Lipo look likely.
  17. Have you tried it on a different battery ? The exsting one, could possibly be losing power under load. G&G are usually pretty solid, but dud's can always happen. I'd try a different battery , if that still doesn't work then send it back again.
  18. New 'inexpensive' DMR build. Base gun is a polymer GE 417, for weight and low price. Out of the box it was pretty horrid , but tbf for what it cost I wasn't expecting much. Gearbox is a long V2 with a mosfet and some sort of electronic full auto set up, no COL and a micro switch whitch enables full auto. I'm not realy a fan of mosfets as I see it as adding unnecisary electronic crap, ( and I'm normally running GBBR) but I'll concede that the lack of COL is handy in a semi locked pew. I've replaced the piston head and added a slightly longer double o ring nozzle, compression is now awesome. Switched to a ZCI rotary hop and inner barrel, along with a M/L rubber and Omega nub. Also a high torque motor. Now running at 1.78j on my home chrono on .36BBs. Quick blow over with Halfords paint to make it look a bit less plastic and added a few spare decals I had. It'll get a run out next game to shake it down, but happy with that.
  19. Also worth checking that the buffer is actually in the tube . And I've also had something similar if the buffer tube isn't screwd in far enough.

    WE L85A2 Parts

Here you go, the screws shown are M4 x 8mm You will probably want countersunk head ones. They are not screwd fully home in the pics and there is plenty of space if they end up protruding slightly. I suspect the stock ones are 5mm long, or even 4mm.

If you post up a pic of the location fo the screws you are missing I can have a look at mine and see what length etc the bolts are , should be easy enough to find.
  22. Yesterday's setup, can't beat old school DPM in the woods. GBB L119 A1 and aeg 417 both got a run.
  23. Had a fun day yesterday. Numbers were low , mainly due to the weather warning I suspect, but fast ,punchy games including a couple of 30 minute back to back ones . So lots of fast tactical play, all very good natured and a total blast all round. Gave my new Golden eagle polymer 417 an outing, it's going to end up as a DMR , but wanted to give it a run as is to try and got some good kills with it. And my GBB L119 got its usual run out .
  24. Given that the 229 is basically just a stubby 226 I would imagine that WE 226 mags would fit fine
  25. Had my VFC one for 2 or 3 years now. It's still comppletely stock. Nothing has broken or failed despite getting lots of use . Regular maintainance like all my other GBBRs but thats it. I field it in a woodland site and never feel out gunned , range and accuracy are both very good, run mine on .30's same as all my GBBs. I THink VFC must have upped their game, 'cos my M249 is awesome and the HK 416 I had on the bench recently for a mate, just to check over and set up is also a beast .
