  1. I'd hazard a guess that over 90% of Brits, particularly urbanites and women, wouldn't own a gun even if we could buy one over the counter in the corner shop, no questions asked. There's no real passion for increasing gun rights, it's more of a rearguard action to preserve the few that are left. The UK still has some amount of hunting, but it's a niche activity, split between seasonal bird shoots by the land-owning upper classes, managed culling of deer and some wild sheep, pest control (a lot done with airguns rather than bang-guns) and a bit of poaching. There are a few target shooting clubs, and recreational clay pigeon shooting centres. That said, shotgun licensing remains "shall issue" in the UK. You have to apply and pay for a licence, provide references, and have secure gun storage, but otherwise it's up to the local police force to find a reason to refuse. Once you have a shotgun certificate you can buy as many smoothbores as you like, up to a 2" cannon, or (I believe) a 3-shell pump action. This means that in practice, anyone who wants a shotgun for pest control, recreational shooting, or any other reason (just don't say home or self defence) can get one, yet only about 1% of adults do. I'm actually surprised it's that high. If you were to use a firearm for self or home defence in the UK, you should expect to find yourself facing murder or manslaughter charges, irrespective of the circumstances. Conversely, I'm not aware of any UK police constable who has been convicted over shooting someone while on duty, even when they give their evidence in the form of song titles. 2. They've had a few grass and foliage fires in dry spells, and have fire extinguishers, water, and first aid points located around the site. The buildwork is all very sturdy. I'm not sure who's doing the design and builds, but it's all decent stuff, and they're constantly improving it and keeping the greenery in check.
  3. If you can find an airsoft site in the UK where the staff / marshals aren't using UV-5Rs or equivalently powered sets on PMR frequencies and channels, I'll be astonished. One thing I keep coming back to is that if you're not sure what you're doing with regard to frequencies, then sticking to the PMR bands means that you won't interfere with anything important in the real world, even if you're running "with your boots on" as we used to say a thousand years ago in the CB era.
  4. Presumably the owls have moved out. Ah, I wondered why the roof was off in that video.
  5. Why would they, when it's packed to capacity every year? I'm very much of the opinion that everyone should know (or be able to find out) what to expect, and if that's not what they're after, just find something else to do that weekend and let those who enjoy it enjoy it. There would have to be some sort of monumental life-altering cock-up to surprise me now.
  6. I have come to be immensely relaxed about it. Team-kill has kill right in the name. That reminds me, I need to look into LED armbands for CQB over the winter.
  7. Yup, that's my current local, I think it's just about bang on in terms of facilities, size, buildwork, variety, and the number of players. If I had to ding it, it's on the marshalling being a bit too friendly and tolerant, but that's hardly unique.
  8. Eh. If it's mint, and you really wanted one, with that stock, and extra mags, and don't want to do a 5 minutes per mag operation, it's maybe a bit cheaper than buying new. It's not like airsoft warranties are more than a coin-flip anyway. TM, innit, u git wut u pay4.
  9. "It's not a bug, it's a feature." Yup, that's what I used too, until I ended up with an Amazon voucher to spend and went mad on the M-PACTs. Loving them, armour right down to the fingertips, except on the index finger. Which is a good thing, as I'd just tried and sent back another pair with armour on all the fingers, that were just too bulky for triggering.
  10. They're fine. Not magical, and sadly it looks like they've dropped the adjustable spring tensioner which is very handy for fine tuning power. Robust, a bit prone to semi-auto locks ups with the stock motor - the V3 trigger doesn't help here. Really, any G36 should be fine, it's more a question of what's in stock at the moment.
  11. You had to do what you had to do. And you're going to have to examine the magazine catch to see if it's been damaged. It should just need one screw removed from the release button, then you can pull the button out, and push the release out the other side. There's a spring in there, be careful that it doesn't escape during disassembly. If it's damaged and needs replaced, sorry, I've no idea if it's a generic M4 release, or 308 (or G&G 308) specific. Repair might be problematic as anything you stick or solder onto the catch to build it back up again is likely to be rubbed off. You might be able to drill and put a very small screw or dowel through it (from the outside-in) to get it to catch again. What I will say is that there are no real standards in airsoft, and magazines can be fussy. I had to enlarge the cutout on some magazines to get them to lock into Ex-Workmate Eddy's G&G CM16 reliably, so it's not your fault, you're a victim of circumstances.
  12. My issue is that, like Nuprol, they're rebadging generic gear that you can buy on eBay or AliExpress for a bit less. That also means that they're at the mercy of their suppliers pulling a bait-and-switch. Which of these would you recommend? https://www.vipertacticalshop.co.uk/tactical-clothing/tactical-gloves.html
  13. OP, this means not from a site with "BB" in the name.
  14. Do we know if it can be replaced with a £5 V3 trigger unit? If so, and given the QC spring taking the stress (literally) out of gearbox disassembly, I might still just very marginally lean Specna. But the CYMA - bought from an actual UK airsoft retailer - is likely to just work and keep working.
  15. Eh, Viper. See also, meh, Nuprol. I cheap out on a lot of stuff, and tend to buy twice and cry twice, but would thoroughly recommend the Mechanix M-Pact gloves linked above. I've tried gloves with both less and more armour, and the M-Pacts hit the sweet spot for protection and trigger...ability.
  16. I have the Jing Gong G36C, so can't comment from experience. From owning CYMA and Specna Arms M4s, and looking at the specs, the Specna has more features, but the CYMA has less to go wrong. If you're buying the CYMA from BBgunz4U (or similar) then there's a small risk that it might come in at over 1.2J as standard, regardless of what they claim. Either one should be fine, or fairly easily made so, it's really down to your preference and tolerance for risk. If it were my money, and at £130 for either, I'd lean very marginally towards the Specna, just because of the QC spring. I'd expect the EBB to be a gimmick that will work for as long as it works.
  17. Dunno, I have a couple that don't feed well. Rather than digging that hole any deeper, I fitted an M4 magwell adapter, and use M4 / Stanag mags.
  18. Not unless you've changed out the stock one. The factory snot-grease might have turned into wax, the trigger contacts could be just barely contacting, or the motor might be very tired. Dive in, I'm sure you can save it.
  19. Yes to the G36C. Solid gearbox, QC spring, decent iron sights, I find it works better than an M4 with a full-face mask, especially if you're comparing optic-vs-optic, and worst case you can fold the stock. V3 triggers aren't great, but you get used to them. Against that, you can fit something like a Perun AB++ without even opening the gearbox.
  20. No regrets at that price. You don't get rotary this and quick-change that, but everything generally works very well together. Ex-Workmate Eddy's G&G shoots just as well as anything that I've "upgraded" with just a nudge of the hop wheel every so often. Stick a 2 in front of that price though and you're up to EDGE 2.0 and Gate Aster territory and it's a very different ball-bearing game.
  21. But sadly G&G look to have priced themselves out of the market now. Very decent guns, basic but everything works well, but with no bells or whistles and a price point closer to £200 than £100 I just can't see that they make sense any more.
  22. Or putting his pistol (doubtless shooting hot) directly on the back of someone's head, with his finger on the trigger. Or shooting dead players standing at their own respawn in the face, deliberately, because they were talking to each other, and "dead men don't talk". He must have superhuman[*] hearing to tell what they were saying from 25-30m away. Or... (and so on). [*] Of course, his real superpower is to be able to start fights when he's not even present.
  23. You're right to be careful and prepared, but this seems a bit wordy. The VCRA isn't relevant at the point where you're stopped, and neither is it being a realistic imitation (we've seen a conviction for an orange day-glo half-sized springer). The offence is Firearms Act 1968, Section 19, public possession of an imitation firearm. All you need is a "reasonable excuse (the proof whereof lies on [you])". But you do need that. So what I would stress is to always be able to show where you're going with it and why, i.e. site information and ideally booking details. "Look at meeeee!" cosplayers are forever getting caught brandishing their bangers, and despite receiving forbidding fingerings from the Fuzz, they generally go on their way after Words of Advice.
  24. If you do crack and decide to buy something yourself, a pistol can make sense (as much as any of these expensive toys do). Great fun if you get gas blowback, simpler to sort any two-tone, and easier to transport to and from site. Just be sure to have a "reasonable excuse" to hand, i.e. site and booking information. [EDIT] And I've juuuuust seen your defence thread.
