  1. I mean, you'd think, but even then it seems that some fans take the Immortal Leader of our Race part a bit too far.
  2. Another vote for polycarbonate. 2mm and above will stop anything that should be being slung at a UK airsoft field by anyone except Kicking Mustang. I bought a sheet of 3mm which is way overkill (or over-stop), so I'd say 2-2.5mm is the sweet spot. You can cut and finish it by hand, but power tools make it easier.
  3. Ditto to that. Unless you: 1) Really know what you want and why or 2) Can really, really trust the tech Then having an airsoft gun "upgraded" can just be an exercise in spending more to get the same, or even less. Most low to mid range guns these days are perfectly decent and usable. Clean the barrel, feed it 0.28g or so, and get the hop dialled in, and you'll be 90% competitive with anyone else out there once you factor in the whims of weather and that we're slinging tiny bits of plastic. Have you played at all yet? Do you have a specific gun in mind that takes your fancy?
  4. Mmm, "it only shoots around 10 - 20 foot" begs for "Bro, do you even AEP?"
  5. My point is that they've being doing this long enough to have figured out that it's buyers who have the problem with reality, not them. It's not like it's even "or nearest offer", it's take-it-or-leave-it, and some folk are taking it. Here's how I read that: "Used £265 gun in unknown condition. [Charlie Brown wah-wah-wah noises]. £700, won't split, buyer must collect".
  6. I'd assume that they've found from experience that optimistic buyers will pay as much for a "totally fucked but might be a simple fix" wall hanger as for a used but notionally working gun. I actually appreciate the honesty in their descriptions - nobody can say they're not being fairly warned.
  7. Do you? It must get pretty expensive binning lenses multiple times a day.
  8. Sure, it makes a lot of sense for sites to pre-book, and it's not harming my local sites at all as they're regularly at capacity. I just wish they'd call it something other than "walk on" is all, it gives me a pain in my pedantry glands.
  9. Or a thin sliver of pencil eraser, that was my quick fix on site.
  10. Ahoy, and welcome back. Nothing's much changed except that everything's more expensive and "walk on" now means pre-book. But 0.7 TM Joules still outranges 1.14 CYMA Joules.
  11. If you're lucky. They do work, and work consistently, but I'd rather miss with a gas blowback than hit with an AEP.
  12. Then I'd go with a Maple Leaf macaron + omega nub (or XT knock-off). https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/hop-up-buckings-nubs Or the tuppeny fix is to use a piece of biro tube as a nub, or just stack some pieces of electrical tape between the bucking and nub.
  13. The power of desperation? Secret rule change. Either way, it could be entirely legit, just don't treat it as differently from any other purchase, irrespective of the riveting tale being spun.
  14. To my simple mind, a BB that so much as touches the barrel once it's been through the hop would emerge with no, or random, backspin. I'd wonder on what evidentiary basis these claims are being made. What I have observed is that adding some hop can increase muzzle energy, so I fully agree with half-hop while bench testing, or ideally with the hop dialled in for the BB weight.
  15. My TAC-41 has never had a BB under 0.43g run through it. Not once. I couldn't even tell you what "fps" it's slinging them at, only that it yeets properly hopped 0.43g-0.46g at 2.2 - 2.3J. It's CURRENT_YEAR, after all, not the Before Time, in the Long-Long Ago.
  16. And at a gross profit margin knocking on 70% (yes, seventy!😞https://finbox.com/LSE:GAW/explorer/gp_margin/ It's a genius strategy, to create a monopoly that they enforce through their tournaments and shops.
  17. "Mates, come on, mates, give it a try with me, it's awesome, mates, it's my forever hobby, ma- bugger it, I'm out."
  18. Did that come with a CYMA or similar? I regretted every penny that I sunk into NiMh. I mean, it works, but it's old tech, and lithium based batteries deliver higher current, even if the voltage is nominally lower. If you're not sure that you'll stick with airsoft, I'd suggest using the basic charger that came with it - while carefully monitoring the battery to check that it's not overheating while charging. If you're going to drop money, I'd recommend that it be on lithium (Li-Po, Li-Fe or even Li-Ion) plus a decent charger like a SkyRC S65 (other options are available). B6 chargers like the one suggests also work (I have one) but again: they're older tech.
  19. Seller: want it all gone asap Also, seller: would rather be patient and wait for it to sell as I know it’s worth Hey, this is Goat Track Maccy-D's Guy. Now letting slip that this bargain bundle is actually in Croydon, and (of course) collection only.
  20. Well, another way to play is to carry enough pyro that you can be sure of clearing the area and moving up to retrieve it.
  21. Genuinely, thank you. There's far too much "friendly first warning" stuff at sites. Without consequences, the only lesson learned is that there are no consequences.
  22. Really sorry to hear that. The Depot 1.0 site was on the verge of banning all reusables because they were getting nicked and they didn't want the hassle. I have a policy of always retrieving them straight away, even if it's calling myself out and getting lit up in the process. I've had marshals tell me to get them later, but I now politely but firmly insist, or ask them to retrieve them for me. Unfortunate, but it's the reality of humans being dicks until proven otherwise.
  23. Good question, Specnas can be super-fussy. Somewhere on here are the magazine and feed tube measurements I took that show over 1mm of variance between "M4" mags. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's very noticeable when you put them side-by-side.
