  1. The ring is a shim that goes between the inner barrel and the hop unit, to help secure and stabilise it. Pop it over the barrel, slide it down, and press it firmly in so that it disappears inside the hop unit. Because inner barrels don't have consistent thicknesses, you may find that the stock ring isn't a perfect fit with an aftermarket barrel. The spring pushes the hop unit back against the gearbox, helping to create a more consistent distance between the nozzle, feed tube, and the hop bucking lips. Just fractions of a millimetre of front-to-back play in the hop unit can create low or inconsistent energy, or misfeeding issues. That's one of the issues with airsoft toys, they require fine tolerances, but have fairly shoddy engineering. There can be a fair amount of shimming needed to get everything lined up just so. Gearbox gears are the most obvious example, plus these hop unit issues, and I've even had to fit shims inside a couple of motors to reduce the amount of longitudinal play in the shaft.
  2. Nope, I've got fatigue from getting my hopes up then reaching the end of the order process and seeing "LOL jk m8" again and again.
  3. Just saw that there are calls to de-rubberise, and the EU has already done so. I wouldn't want to be breathing that stuff in. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/expert-makes-plea-ban-toxic-24712148
  4. I was too feart to carry on with the order to find out. What a complete shitshow, why can't they just have a banner headline? It's not rocket surgery to determine when someone has an IP or meatspace UK address. I mean, they even know that far ahead in the process!
  5. Indeed, I tried putting it in my TaiwanGun address, and the weird way that Eurostanis interpret addresses completely messed it up and did indeed make the address essentially indecipherable. I'd almost sympathise with UPS had they tried to deliver it
  6. Yup, that looks new. I haven't taken the order any further though to see if they change their mind later. At our risk is a peculiar contractual term, that will take some wrangling to sort out. The thing is, I do trust TaiwanGun (and GunFire) to label things properly, and write a UKARA number on it prominently, as opposed to random sellers from the mysterious Orient.
  7. For proving a defence (which isn't the same as being licensed). However, we're not responsible for the labelling, and I'd seen all sorts of "best sport toy electronic gift" style jibba-jabba and random declared value on packaging - which is one reason that I've never risked importing a RIF from Chinaland. As per OP's original threat-o-gram, that's a separate legal problem to whether the item is prohibited. It seems unfair to punish recipients for something outwith our control, but if you don't like it, create your own national scale institutionalised protection racket, I guess. Typically, they don't say which of the three possible reasons is behind the seizure, just "See you in court if you want it, good luck guessing which it is."
  8. Ahoy, and welcome back. I've only been playing for 4 years (less the written-off one), but the good new is that there are some constants: 1) Physics still works on rules rather than belief and 2) No airsofter believes that I don't think there's been any huge improvements in boltie tech recently, it's more about heavy, consistent BBs, and maybe a decent hop unit - although a TDC mod costs pennies. There's maybe a higher volume of fire being spammed around - this is actually an issue at my smallish local site - but generally most of it is still missing. Find a decent site with non-whanger players and it's still a fun day out playing dress up with toy guns.
  9. Come, sir, you know we'll have no truck with that around here. Wait... I mean... around here we'll have no truck with that.
  10. I don't care if it even works, it's a gloriously bold and daft idea and for that alone I love it.
  11. Well, maybe. Is that "bright" blue? Then again, PatrolBase send out hundreds of IFs a year painted in a rather nice, muted Burgundy red And always have your reasonable excuse to hand why you have an imitation firearm (realistic or otherwise_ in your possession, i.e that you're on your way to or from an airsoft skirmish at an insured site. I think you could search from now until we've finally flattened the COVID curve and never persuade the State to take the slightest interest in whether you've painted an IF. As @EDcase astutely notes, it's more of an issue what you do with it. I'm not advocating breaking any laws, and I don't know that OP has a defence. However, consider that anyone with nefarious intentions would hit it with a can of Poundland black and not give a stuff about even asking.
  12. We hope so, although someone just turned up a rather alarming T&C where PayPal say that they might reject a claim if the seller provided proof of delivery or proof of posting. It seems that Border Farce are picking up on mis-labelled packages now, as that's an easy "win" for them.
  13. That was excellent quality bait.
  14. Sorry to hear that, but are you saying that you weren't loaded with bio BBs at a site that you knew was bio only, but which hadn't been checking up to now? Personally I always make sure that I can show a bottle or bag marked "bio", for what that's worth.
  15. Flogging side-door cosmetic rejects is a chancer's game, but the key issue is whether SIG will honour the warranty on them. If it works as intended, and will get fixed if it breaks, it's most of the way there.
  16. No, I'm asking about double shooting on semi. One pull = 1.X shots. I got that on my CYMA when I shoved a meaty 11.1V in, but it had a cut down spring which was noticeably short and provided no pre-load.
  17. I feel personally wound up. Yes, it's an offence. But it's not manufacture. It's modification, which is listed as a clear and explicit and unambiguous offence in its own right. 36 Manufacture, import and sale of realistic imitation firearms (1) A person is guilty of an offence if— (a) he manufactures a realistic imitation firearm; (b) he modifies an imitation firearm so that it becomes a realistic imitation firearm; https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/2006/38/section/36
  18. Indeed, stocking will be lumpy, and it's the 25-years-to-lifetime support that I'm really sceptical about.
  19. Good to hear, thanks. Is this on the stock M90 spring? No issues with overspin or double shooting?
  20. Maybe. I wonder how sustainable it all is though.
  21. Prompted by the tabletop gaming thread, there are even people who throw a tantrum when a dice roll goes wrong while they're playing with model soldiers. One notable contrast is with steel weapon combat sports (reenactment, HEMA) where it's very quickly and absolutely unambiguous who's able to keep their head, and who's inclined to go full spinny-choppy as soon as the adrenaline kicks in.
  22. Hopefully not the same colours every day.
