Totally agree with every point you’ve made ! I’ve always been of the opinion it’s not the kit that matters it’s the player . How many times have we ALL seen ‘that’ player with a gatt that on paper should dominate a game field but they can’t hit shit with it BUT equally how many times have we all also seen a virgin fresh rental guy play like a demon with one of the sites crappy G36/M4/AK Beta ???? Good guns can make a difference but If you’ve got some right cockwomble pulling the trigger who hasn’t a clue how to set up his kit properly(set the hop , zero the sight) then it’s like pissing in the wind . Plus I’ve always thought the ranges we shoot at once you get to know how your gun handles , feels , shoots then realistically you should be able to hit a head’n’shoulder sized target at most sites with out a scope or sights just by intuition.

Good to hear mate , only problems I’ve ever had over the yrs is missing items or incorrect and they’ve never quibbled over these things . So I've got nothing to complain about from them so far . 👍

Seriously looked in to it a couple of years ago , had found an old factory unit that was going to be demolished for a housing redevelopment , was in the middle of nowhere but had easy access from the M4 and loads of clean open spaces inside , was even a couple of huge(and I do mean huge)piles of OSB that the owner was more than willing to let us use for barricades and what not . Even with all these boxes ticked it still worked out way way beyond me and my mates wallets combined . from what I’ve seen over the years playing , unless your setting up a business or already have an established business that unless your a lottery winner it’s way beyond most peoples pockets to do legally and above board .

You may or may not be aware just how many players out there that think Zero1 and Patrol Base are literally the only retailers in the sport ! Over the years the numbers I’ve come across who didn’t have a scooby doo about other places to buy from is mind boggling ! So a lot of the time when you see a very silly price there is a very good chance the seller was absolutely butt f*cked by a retailer over it in the first place and really does think there worth XYZ 2nd hand .😳 OR of course there just some scumbag trying to rip off some unsuspecting Fool ? 🤦‍♂️ AND to prove my point this has just appeared , I’m leaning towards hasn’t a clue and NOT scammer , but still ridiculously over priced and miss advertised. Not discontinued by any stretch of the imagination , and you can get all that’s listed for a lot less even in the UK !

“Bit of a turn off” would have thought an airsoft site would be an absolutely shit place to go ‘on the pull’ mate ? 😳 the helmet you linked too is from a well known but expensive british seller so if you keep looking around guaranteed you’ll find it cheaper elsewhere . I’d say you mite have a bit of a problem finding a ‘cheaper’ option as you’ve a big melon to cover with a skid lid , remember 90% of airsoft kit is made for the Asian market which on the whole run a lot smaller in size than we are so most helmets out there are going to make you look like a closed cup mushroom 🍄 .

Both fair points BUT fieldcraft and concealment isn’t exactly a ‘dark art’ really ? Had a quick attack of google foo and I found loads of stuff on the net about it , plus simple common sense says if your wearing a dark gillie suit and your running around the site , lay down on some bleached out grass or next to a building people are going to see you ? all you need is a bit of heavier cover , little bit of a wiggle in under it and boom your invisible to 90% of the players on the field ! 😂 so many players just aren’t even remotely observant but unfortunately this usable advantage is cancelled out by an equal amount of players who seem to be unable to think out of the box when it comes to placing them selves in a good position on the field . Ultimately I think it comes down to rules are there for a reason , and if you think a rule is putting you at a disadvantage then step up your game and make your self a better player so you negate the perceived disadvantage ?

Mr Samurai’s comment here goes back to my point , if an arm band can give away your position then you really don’t have a clue about field craft do you ? Odds are your going to be spotted soon enough wether you’ve a dayglow armband or not ?

If your arm band can give your position away when sniping then quite frankly your shit at being a sniper ! what your wearing has rock all to do with it it’s ALL about your position and your movement(or more appropriately lack of movement !) thats important , we’ve all been to a gameday where you’ve seen some nobber running around the site in a full wookie suit like a demented loon with his arse on fire but most didn’t see the guy in the red check shirt and blue jeans who was using proper field craft to maintain his position . Far too many think being a sniper is Get dropped off somewhere , crawl forward 100-150ft As quick as you can , shoot the target , crawl back out of sight get picked up then home for tea and medals ala CoD ! when in-fact the reality Is tabbing in to a location for hrs and hrs , then crawling forward very very slowly for a good couple of hundred yards if not further laying in the same spot for a couple of days , pissing in a bottle , shitting in a ziploc bag , getting pissed on by the local farm stock then getting an abort signal and repeating the whole thing in revers !🤦‍♂️ It’s no different at a gameday(just dramatically scaled back) if your field craft is good you can be a sniper , but if it’s not then your just another nobber who thinks he’s the ultimate ‘one shot one hit’ stone cold killa ! 🤣🤣

One of my biggest reasons for buying most of my kit from out side the UK is the shit service I’ve received over the yrs from most of the uk retailers I’ve dealt with , wether it’s zeromong getting paid for up-grades that they then proceeded to do with used parts , airsoft world sending an obviously 2nd hand gun as new and then saying “of course it looks used we had to test it first(how’d you test it take it to a full days scurmish?) ! Or airsoft armoury sending an order to the wrong address and saying tuff it’s been signed for over to you ! so me personally I’m more than happy to take the risk of buying from foreign retailers over UK ones if I’m getting a substantial saving .👍

Plus , plus , plus to all the above comments, from my personal experience as an Airsofting parent I’d say your 8yr old is too young and the 11yr old is just on the edge as long as he’s in too physical sports and not afraid of getting a few cuts’n’scrapes . Both my boys started at 12 and both played rugby (we are welsh after all !😉) and they where both full in from day 1 ! BUT a few mths in to it my youngest brought his friend who was what I’d call your ‘average’ (trendy hair cut , superdry jacket and skinny joggers)type kid and he was NOT happy when he got shot to buggery trying to follow my son in to a bunker , and on the further occasions he got shot he did whine a fair bit how much it hurt , and never came again . as to maturity affecting how they play , then I’m definitely of the opinion depends on the kids home environment , I’ve seen 12-13yr olds behave wonderfully AND seen the same age group behave like utter twats and spoil the whole day for everyone else there . Was an incident earlier this yr at my home site where a 14yr old repeatedly walked in to the safezone with the mag still in his bolt action sniper rifle , after the third time the head marshal got him to phone his parents to come and pick him up (he’d gone with a friend and the friends adult brother) and threw him off site , now the friend he’d come with was a cracking lad and spent the entire day apologizing for his friends actions , we did all tell him not too worry as we knew it wasn’t his fault(quite frankly I trusted him a lot more than a lot of adult players !🤦‍♂️) Just goes too show age means nothing really .
