Haha, I pretty much only use gas guns now ever since my friend sourced me a cheap, but basically new TM AKM (it was when mags were rare and he wanted the spare mag as it came with 2, so he got me a fantastic deal where I basically got a new one for half price) and I shot it on the range for the first time, so I'm quite used to the added weight. I have an MTW 308 and an SRS that occasionally get used as backup guns when the weather is bad and I can't be bothered with gas, but that's incredibly rare. For my MWSs I "only" carry a standard fighting load of 7 mags (1 in the gun, 4 in the rig, 2 in the belt) and for the m700 I carry 6 extended mags (1 in the gun, 3 in the rig, 2 in the belt), but those are 35rds/20rds (depending on if I'm using the stubbies or regular mags) and 25rds mags respectively so it's still more than if I carry all 11 of my Kar98k mags as those are only 10rds. I'm also a psychopath who has weighted training plates in my plate carrier and a helmet that weighs as much as a proper ballistic helmet. For me, immersion is more important than being the very best that no one ever was, hence GBBRs and gas bolt actions. Also, GBBRs are just... fun. And very satisfying.4 points

Honestly with the right LBE - and cheap surplus PLCE suits - you can run a GBB G3 pretty easily. You get used to the lower mag capacity and with a little tweaking learn to place your shots better, basically.3 points -
Added bonus, the trigger mech is compatible with the WE G3, so you can actually get a G3 GBBR with 3rd burst.2 points

I run 5 45 round mags in my Apache (1 in gun, 4 on belt) and it's enough for medium length games and not that heavy. I offset the weight with a USP with 3 mags on the other side so doesn't feel like one side is heavier than the other. 100% recommend getting an MP5, not biased at all...2 points

That is interesting information, you have now ruined my day and I must look for a G3 ? Not very painful at all, can have the gun stripped, checked, greased and back together in 20 mins. Bada bing has a couple of really good videos on the Apache, well worth watching ?1 point

Got the TM EBB AKS back from the tech yesterday after I put a 11.1v battery in it by mistake and fried it. While he was in there he did a couple of other small jobs to tidy it up as it had been playing up intermittently. New motor connectors, a bit of soldering / insulation and a fresh hop rubber and she’s back to shooting like a dream. The charging handle doesn’t move when it cycles anymore as the hook that connects it to the blow back system has gone missing but that’s for another day. Also added a new pack to the load out as the new site I’ve been playing has a killer hill upto the safe zone and want to try and get everything up there in one go.1 point

I love the CGS for being like, "oh it's an MWS system," but then they changed literally everything slightly so you can't use MWS parts and then just manufactured it really crappy1 point -
Not even worth getting the DE Stanags with the CGS, because the routers on CGS mags sit about 1.5mm taller, which means getting seal is near impossible - you can't install CGS routers on the DE mags either, as the CGS ones are fractionally larger footprint, so whilst you can install MWS routers in CGS mags, the other way doesn't work.1 point

The the CGS guns are uh, boy they're rough. I dunno if it's worth sinking much more time or money into tbh. Step one, bin/sell the mags. Consider either the Double Eagle Stanags (not the PMAGs those are ass) or the TM Stanags. They should be compatible and are just better made all round. If it were me though, I'd just get an MWS instead tbh. The CGS isn't much cheaper but misses a lot of the internal parts that make the MWS good. You're not really at the bottom of a curve sadly, the CGS is just ass.1 point -
Any squads looking for members?
Galvatron reacted to Cannonfodder for a topic
In my experience advertising for a team to join never ends well. It's better to play and have teams approach you as they'll know what they're looking for in new members. If a team is actively trying to get new members there's usually a reason and it's usually not a good one Also it might help if you mention where you play, even if its just a rough location so you're not wasting people's time if they're interested only to find out you're at the other end of the country.1 point -
Welcome! It may be more helpful if you were to disclose where in the UK you are based, where you're willing to travel and how frequently you can join a squad for skirmishes. If a squad has a uniform or a very prescriptive loadout as part of its identitiy, will you take that on at your expense? Are you over 18?1 point

On Sunday I played a couple of games with my LCT G3 and a single 500(ish) rd hi cap mag. After 30 mins I started to regret the decision given its weight. A couple of guys had GBB G3’s with 8/10 20 round mags, the gun was a similar weight but the mags/gas etc was a huge weight penalty then one of the guys swapped and I got it. As an airsoft gun GBB will always struggle but for realism they are stunning!! Now looking for a GBB AK or MP5………….1 point

Unfortunately not, & i agree with the idea of making interested members aware, but here is the only place it can be shown. That's not to say that members can't raise awareness by clicking on the emoji reactions, probably the "careful now" (father Ted) one as that's the only one that doesn't boost the members ratings.1 point -

Probably have enough mags now. Adding to the 3 I already have, that allows me to carry an absolutely mind-boggling... 110rds for my Kar98k. Isn't that like... a single Tac41 magazine? ? And yes, I can easily carry all of them (but it is heavy, so I may drop it to 5 or 7 mags instead). The SKS chicom pouches are perfect for them and there are 10 pouches on the SKS chicom. 10 + 1 in the gun, and the far left pouch is larger and actually fits two mags so I can even carry that spare one there when in the safe zone and the mags have to be out of the gun. Also, as an aside, Tiger111hk is amazing. I only placed this order on Friday and it already turned up. No customs issues, and no goddamn UPS Stanford Le Hope which surprised me1 point

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
DanBanksJazz reacted to Colin Allen for a topic
Today was an invitation only event at Airsoft Plantation; 32 players were present along with a player marshal on each side. The first game of the day had two stages; in the first, we had to defend a stretcher that we had hidden in the bunker in the mortar pits area; once the red team captured it, we switched to stage 2 where they had to get it, with a player on it, to the plane at the DEA base. We had one life in each location, while the attackers had infinite buddy regens after a 30 m fallback. I took up a position on the far side of the mortar pits, where I would be able to help defend against any enemy who tried to swing round and attack from that side. Some of them did and they were sent back to find a colleague to regen on. After doing this a few times, an attacker and I traded kills and I wandered off to the DEA base, where I set up in a favourite bush. We held up their advance on the DEA base for quite a while, despite being attacked from 180 degrees. Eventually a wafty shot came wandering into the bush, touching me very gently on the leg. In the reverse of this, a group of us swung around the mortar pits and attacked from the far side, which we seemed to clear out rather quickly, as other colleagues moved in from other directions. A brilliant grenade attack on the top deck of the bus cleared out the last defenders and we located the stretcher in the horse box. After a slightly reluctant player had taken up position on the stretcher, we set off for the DEA base, with the stretcher team being held back until the area was cleared. Our little group pushed around to the right, slowly helping to clear out the very determined defenders so that the stretcher could be rushed to the plane in a time that was a mere 45 seconds faster than the red team had managed. After the usual short break to reload etc, we set out to defend two crates of beer that we could locate anywhere we chose in the village; I hid one in the fuel dump. We had two lives in the village, while the attackers again had infinite regens, this time at the silver birch, which was also their start point. The enemy attack opened with a barrage of grenades, which had very little effect as they mostly fell short. Fighting on our left, I was with a group who held up the enemy on that side for a considerable time, although we were slowly being ground down. Eventually, I was hit and fell back to the fuel dump, where I was finally hit from a slightly unexpected direction. When this was reversed, I went into the village through the suburbs, taking out a few enemy players as we slowly cleared out the defenders. However, we could not locate the crates of beer; eventually, I found one secreted in a large wooden crate, which the marshals decided was an ungentlemanly place to hide it and imposed a time penalty on the defenders. The other one was finally found hidden under the barrel barricade. Lucheon was then taken, which meant cold pizza for me; yum! After we had dined, we went out for a free for all in the woods. Once you were hit, you joined the player who shot you if they could put their hand on you within 10 seconds. If they couldn't, you were on your own again until someone managed to hit you and claim you. Another player and I traded shots, forming a two person team; we quickly acquired a couple of colleagues and set up a perimeter about 25m behind the kill house, backed up against the earth bank, which we held throughout the game, preventing the enemy getting a hand on our shot colleagues and reclaiming them ourselves. By the end of the game, we had been reduced to a team of three, as one of us got a bit too far away and was shot and claimed by the group that had occupied the kill house. It was a chaotic and rather fun game. The next game required us to prevent the attackers, who started at the border, obtaining an ammo box from the ridge fort and transporting it to the wobbly bridge. We had two lives in front of the wobbly bridge and one beyond it; the attackers had infinite buddy regens after a 30m fall back. I took up a position on the far right, hoping to ambush any attackers who came that way. After taking out a couple, I was delighted to see the opposing team's player marshal carefully picking his way along the site boundary; he then had to climb over a large fallen tree, after which I double tapped him. He took his cowboy hat off, threw it to the floor and sank down while proclaiming "I give up!" before getting up again and trudging off. I then set off to shoot the attackers in the back, which I did several times before they finally got the ammo box to the bridge that wobbles. Several players had to leave at this point; those of us who remained went to the village. After the teams had been rebalanced, we played a quick game of last team standing. The teams started at opposite ends of the village with everyone having one life; the winners would be the team that the last surviving player belonged to. I moved up along our right, taking out a couple of enemy players before I was hit and sent back to the safe zone, ending my day. It was a good, old fashioned day of airsoft. AP is a huge site that easily absorbs 200+ players; playing with a fraction of that number really changes the dynamics, resulting in a very different experience.
