New guy question about revolvers
ronnyjodes and one other reacted to Black Death for a topic
Revolvers......hmmmmmmmm If I was going into a real life combat situation my revolver would get left at home! However seeing as airsoft is for fun and not life and death my revolver comes with me everytime. Yes I agree it's no where near as effective as say a glock or 1911 BUT (and it's a big fat butt)... They are incredibly fun to use. Whereas the guy with the glock may come round the corner popping off shots and catching someone with the 8th shot, the guy with the revolver sneaks up to almost point blank range and gets an almost execution style kill!!! Practical no...Fun HELL YEAH I don't even own a regular pistol but I do own a marushin ragin bull! It's clunky huge, only has 6 shots and is not high on power but everytime I get a kill with it I smile from ear to ear. Oh and 8mm BBs are beast! They don't do more damage but look very intimidating! And everytime I take it out of its holster you hear one or two "ohhhh sssshitttt!!!" The only thing to consider with a revolver is the overall look of your loadout. It may look seriously out of place so choose wisely Oh and the only thing in airsoft better than a revolver is.... TWO REVOLVERS!!!2 points -

Not hard to work out - the 'bobbin' shape of the nub has to fit an arc of a 5.95+/-0.01mm + (2x0.65mm ~ hop rubber thickness) Ø circle* into its curve. so if we stick with tradition and call butt-to-muzzle the Z axis, side to side Y, and up/down X then in the Z/Y plane the 'tab' which will contact the nub will be a simple rectangle in the X/Y plane a convex arc of the same *Ø circle and the clever bit - in the X/Z plane it will be a concave arc of that circle... that way the nub will not have anywhere to move whatsoever and so the pressure exerted by the hop arm will be completely even across both Y and Z axes, only flexing in the X axis by an amount determined by the stiffness of nub and arm vs hop setting (ie a new chapter in approaching the holy grail of backspin rotating around an axis exactly perpendicular to the BB's trajectory) yw just remember you all read it here first2 points -

Was looking to get a pair of Merrell sawtooths but couldn't justify the price of importing them when I could probably pick up something similar in the uk for half the price. I was browsing eBay and came across some TMC Sawtooth copies and for 19.99 I thought I'd give them a try. So far I'm really impressed with them. For the price the quality is superb. Obviously not as good as the merrells but for once or twice a month airsoft use they are fine. Ill update once I've used them for a while to see just how they hold up.2 points -

Used a Reprap (Cost about £250-£300 to make) to make a part to replace the weakened original, which is load bearing, for an Ergotron MX Monitor Arm, It currently has £3500 worth of monitor on it (all 13kg's of it), I have absolute faith that the one above would be more than sufficient for a go pro (<1kg?)1 point

So I have now tested my WW2 loadout at the 3 main types of site (woodland, outdoor CQBish and indoor CQB). The 2 main issues are the weight and heat. The gear is a lot heavier than normal gear and the Sten is not a lightweight gun. The smock does get rather hot but is excellent in light rain. The webbing and clothing gives you a vast amount of carrying capacity. If I filled every part of a molle vest with pouches even over the back and then added a belt rig and drop leg's I might be able to carry almost as much. The Sten: The range is decent but not exceptional, in woodland I wished I had a nice Lee Enfield to get some longer range shots in but it was doing better than some other AEG's. The Sten is noisy, the gearbox is fairly quiet but the piston seems to make one hell of a lot of noise so it's not a stealthy weapon. Outdoors the Sten excels at supressing enemies, the high rate of fire combined with the noise provides the shock and awe needed to stop a group of enemies and make then dive for cover. Equally if you want to cover someone then it draws attention away from team mates. Anytime you need to fire from a prone position, the Sten works well, the side mounted mag is excellent for this. In CQB it's not as good as my MP5 but I would rather have the Sten than an M4 or AK as the iron sights are really very good. Only the ability to have a torch or red dot sight would make M4's or AK's better. The Sten is sometimes impaired by the magazine position in CQB but equally the magazine position sometimes works in it's favour. The Sten gun sling is a pain, especially in CQB and takes a lot of getting used to. I find that letting the sling slip down to my right elbow works. It's then possible to shoulder the gun quickly and easily and even switch hands. My Sten chrono's at 335-338fps (10 shots semi auto) very consistent. Unfortunately that's technically to hot for the 328fps limit for the indoor site I use but they let me get away with it as long as I didn't do any head shots.1 point

If I had the blueprints and dimensions for the arm needed and the blueprints for the H nub it might be possible. of course it's best to have the physical things with you. I might give the design a whirl after I come back from a milsim this weekend.1 point -

Finished the model of the hop arm on autocad, now going to make a few versions with different tolerances in dimensions. To be fair I copied the Dangerwerx Type B arm way too much for my liking but don;t fix what isn't broken amirite? It's not like I'm going to be that much a cnut and sell these anyway. It was fairly simple to make once I got a good reference picture. Guess my experience with blender may have helped n me getting the hang of autocad. I Will still message Dangerwerx Dave to see if he's fine with me using his design(Then again he did kind of use Noobie's designs which were more or less open source) However can;t hurt to be 100% sure. The arm so far, looks identical to Dave's HE lever,It's a bit embarrassing Gucci H nubs may be harder but I'll give them a go soon. If I can sort something out with my brother and the 3D printer at his workplace then maybe I can get one or two production runs of gucci H nubs. If I ever do I'd imagine I'd sell them for about a euro or some each, depends on how expensive materials and all that craic is.1 point -

Top tech is g&g's range of higher end guns. The have the combat machines and lower end rifles with lower grade parts and internals and then there's the top techs with better internals. That's pretty much it in a nutshell1 point -
Assuming you're talking to me? just under £20 or there abouts, they seem decent enough, all real leather and nomex, sizing fits my hand better than oakley's gloves do- i've always found the oakley's fingers a little short. Obviously I've not used them whilst skirmishing yet but they seem pretty solid and should hold up to abuse well enough.1 point

Supposedly the G&G mags are really good so I that could be a shout. Would 6 mid caps be sufficient for most games or would buying two lots be better?1 point -

Airsoft ed - I wouldn't be doing any changes myself. I would just had it to the techs. As I said. I'm not too fussed about a high FPS as long as I'm getting the same range as most other AEGs. Airsoft_mr b - that seems like a very good price. I'm not to fussed about them being metal as long as they are a snug fit. I hate loose mags.1 point -
You could always use a neoprene mask, then you could add a zip?1 point
