Hi Baser, it's ok . I've actually hpa taped it so I can run the the MP5 on a tank in the colder months and like that it works well . It's fine filled with green gas too , but in honesty I prefer using the stick mags since i see limited shots and mag changes as part of the imersive GBB play style . That said if a game demands a spray and pray style then the drum is better .

So much this. A lot of these pre-made ghillies, especially the cheaper ones, catch the light weirdly and stick out like a sore thumb to anyone who knows what to look for. One option I tend to use is a Β£5 OD scrim net, secured with elastic hair bands that I then also use to tuck natural foliage in. Doesn't need much natural foliage, but a little natural foliage works wonders for concealment. The other option I use is an SCG pre-made rifle wrap. If you really want something pre-made, then these are good, but double the price of what you were looking at: https://www.longbowbb.co.uk/product-page/scg-next-gen-halo-multi-season-rifle-wrap (summer / sites with evergreen foliage) https://www.longbowbb.co.uk/product-page/scg-autumn-halo-screen-rifle-wrap (winter)

Do it! I've only used it once, but so far really enjoying it. Even with the suppressor it feels lighter and handier than my other AR15s (MK18, CQBR, 14" URGI), and the kick is impressive (and loud) on green gas. There are caveats however. Had to buy a tool to get the hand guard off because the retention spring is so tight. Had a nightmare getting the barrel nut off too, because VFC love using loads of locktite. Then finally had to replace the hop unit and inner barrel because they'd locktite'd the hop screws and I stripped the head off one of them, so it now has a unicorn inner barrel and 4uad hop and nub.

Rickwales replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Cheers guys, I'm not buying anything till I go the my local site/shop I want to try before I buy. If I'm spending that much money I want to see it fits nicely and is comfortable. This post headed in a direction I didn't expect. π I only wanted to share something I'd seen in lidl. -

Load-Out / Loadout Picture topic
Jaylordofwaargh replied to Nutster's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I know i said id try the mash up, but the reality for the short game format at Dragons Lair, its just not needed. So instead I took the grab bag - short sling so it sits chest/abdomen and boom, a load out. -
I've got a VFC gas shotgun with the 30rd shells - same system as Marui, Cyma et al. On 3rd spread, it's a decent distance - I've never measured it but it's not that much worse than a typical AEG. On 6rd it probably loses 5-10m of range but obviously a bigger spread. I've played outdoors with it a couple of times and not felt completely outgunned. I think it also depends a little on the site you're playing at. If it's got wide open spaces, hundreds of people and everyone has a hicap then it would probably be a bit pants. Most sites I play at these days are built up/dense woodland and the games are semi-only with most people running midcaps. In those, if you pick your shots it's no disadvantage at all and makes for a very rewarding game. You do have to be on it with gassing up the little tank though.

Thank you both for your replies, the hop rubber is indeed rotten and not really rubber anymore, I have ordered a new hop unit, so hopefully this may solve the problem. the mag seems ok, wasnβt left with BBs and seems to push them out ok. Regards the gearbox timing, Iβm fairly sure it canβt be wrong as is seems everything is controlled by the sector gear? The only thing is the crown wheel and what looks like a non reversing cam? I guess this just stops the spring reversing the motor? Thanks again for your input.

I had a Cyma springer for a while, and it was fine enough for cheap, but also partially glued shut and built in the most insane way possible. After a year it started just falling apart.

There is no surgery that can fix a ruptured eyeball. -
Bought an ASG SPAS springer trishot that uses 30 round shells. Fun for CQB and room clearance. Not very effective outdoors. Invested Β£30 in the cheapest single shot 15 round magazine springer from Super5s after an interesting discussion with one of the guys there about converting it with a stronger spring to a DMR ! Maybe one for the long winter nights. If it fails after a game itβll be fun and not too much money wasted.

To be honest, if you've got a vehicle big enough (or you hire one), then it might be worthwhile just booking a stall or two and taking it to the Midlands Airsoft Fair in October. You can sort it into complete guns, and parts etc. and just let people dig through it at their leisure. -

The hop rubber should be replaced after this amount of time but that will affect the BBs firing rather than feeding. Definitely clean the barrel too. The feeding problem is likely due to the magazine spring being too weak. Does it have a wheel at the bottom? If so then half fill the mag and wind the wheel until you feel more resistance. You should get a new mag to test with anyway. When you look into the BB feed tube (underneath), you should see the nozzle move in and out. If it doesn't clear the feed hole after firing then there's a problem in the gearbox. Just watched the video. I've never seen a transparent plastic gearbox before and it's cool to see. It looks like it's cycling correctly but I doubt it will last long especially with it's age so I would advise getting a metal one. EDIT: Just had a look and I could not find one in stock so if you get it working enjoy it while it lasts. Best of luck

Hi Can't help much as I don't know the L85 of any make and I can't see the video, but what caught my attention was you say its been used as a prop for 8 years? I have a type 97 bullpup that had been used as a stage prop for years, and its original hop rubber was apparently natural rubber which had literally rotted inside it. I'll let you imagine what it smelt like! π so I would check the hop unit especially the hop rubber itself and the nub as it may be perished or perhaps distorted by being left set that long, which obviously could easily interfere with BB's feeding. Also, probably stating the obvious again, but has the inner barrel been cleaned? My Type 97 had its own little ecology inside when I got it! It still suprises me after xxxx years airsofting π how little dirt/residue/dust in the barrel can cause feeding issues and jams. Also, has the mag been unused for years too? if so its well worth checking that for dust/dirt etc too, and if itsa midcap thats been left with some BB's in it the spring may well be weakened as you describe. Trying with other mags would show if the mag is the problem. Sorry for being so non specific and vague. Best of luck with it.
