  2. Thanks for the reply. I tried a mates check riser, liked it so ended up getting one. I like to have my sling points as fare apart as possible, have it on the right hand side of the stock and left of the rail. The issue I am having is the sling now gets in the way when shouldering so wanted something to move it forward out the way but still attached to the stock. What exactly screams "gear queer" in my profile?
  3. Thanks, that's actually a great idea
  4. Granted, my experience was over a year ago but they were fine. Posted items out in good time and assisted me when an item was the wrong size. If you need a TRMR holster, someone on here could probably 3D print you one.
  5. Hi All, Ordered a couple of TRMR holsters back on the 28th Sept and never received them, I reached out on there website and Insta but got zero comms back, It left me no choice other than initiate a refund via PayPal, Anyone having any poor buying experiences here? hopefully just a admin error as I do want the holsters 😆
  6. Hi @Joesif When I got back into airsoft after approx. 10 year hiatus I grabbed myself one of these Double Eagle - M923G DEX556 AEG | Patrol Base UK upgraded the hop and slapped on some attachments and away I went! I think they are pretty decent for the money and a great "starter" I mostly play CQB so a TM Mp7 was always on the cards and its what I run 90% of the time but I still have the M923G as a back up or if I bring a friend along. my advice is whatever you get, learn basic maintenance and it will keep you in the game more and the safe zone less!

  8. Hi, my first post here. Visited a local CQB site a few times now (killhouse maze type thing in a mill) and I've decided I'm going to get membership and my UKARA on my next visit. The site's nice, I like the people and the games are fun. But I've visited once in February and then again recently and it's not changed one bit that whole time (is this normal?) so I think I might need to venture further afield, all the sites around me are ran by the same company so membership will be beneficial. The ancient rental ASG SLV36's have told me what I definitely don't want in a RIF, glad I got to spend some time with them. Pros of the G36? It seemed fairly accurate but the distance of encounters is very low so I should hope it is. Folding stock is great for using iron sights with a full face on. Last time I went I played stock collapsed the entire time and had much more hits than previous visits. I've never had a mag run out (470 capacity). Cons? Crap iron-sights Heavy at 2.8kg with no attachments or mag (especially when not using stock). Motor and gearbox sound horrible. Hi-Cap Mags rattling, screwing up my ninja plays. Though it didn't often feel like the barrel was particularly long, the RIF felt unwieldy and un-ergonomic. Winding is annoying and I frequently forget to do it. Feels cheap. Next Step So I'm thinking a Delta Armory R15 Freya 7". I ended up on this one mostly because of how much had been pre-upgraded with SHS parts, a ZCI High Torque Motor a nice EFS with features comparable to those in high end models. I've now got an ok understanding of how the RIF functions and I know that just because those parts are present doesn't mean they've been fitted adequately. I'm fine with jumping into the rabbit hole of working on my own RIF and would likely get quite into geeking out and tinkering. I probably prefer MP5's for looks, a lot more so than an M4 but in my budget they're all heavy and just annoying (those hop ups are dumb and those mosfets in the CYMA Platinum's sound like they have really bad QC issues.). The freya is not the cheapest, but I am sick of wasting money to just end up spending more down the line. I have had a look on the classifieds and honestly I'm not seeing any mega deals, unless it's a nice RIF with 7 mags that I hate the look of (I then end up settling on it 15 mins later and it's either been sold or the seller ghosts me, maybe it's my lack of posts are feedback that scares them off). So my questions are, does anyone have any experience with this RIF? Would it make a good starter? What colour would you get it in? And what would you suggest as an alternative? My budget for the RIF is around £300 or less (not including batteries etc) I'd like something with more modern specs as a kind of future proofing.

  15. The issue was fn had no real military interest in the scar and the only was acquired by SF units. Even then the us socom units soon removed it from their inventory as most soldiers didn't like it as much as had a more higher failure rate to the M4 platforms used. So fn discontinuing it i understand why. Luckily this won't effect Airsoft production as there will always be a need for it as a Airsoft gun.
  16. Interesting news. One the one hand not surprising because it's never been truly popular and paying to keep those production lines going for decades now must have finally gotten annoying enough for the company to cut their losses, but on the flip side they really tried hard to push it for so long that it almost felt like they'd just have it on the back burner forever more. Time has definitely moved on since it was designed though, the more recent LICC offerings have a lot more potential moving forward. Given the popularity in games etc I don't see the airsoft replicas going anywhere any time soon, if ever. Most certainly not for a long time because moat of airsoft always lags years and years behind. You talking about a specific manufacturer or version? FN still churns them out in the US. I've not researched other mfgs, but there will be various other production around the world too I'm sure, given the large number of governmental forces that have adopted them and the massive proliferation/popularity of the design. Not the SCAR, their standard rifle is basically a 416 though.
  17. Some better pics pls!
  18. Tape is not tape is not tape. There's a million different kinds out there. Hockey tape is popular on firearms for the same reason it is in said sport - very grippy, tough, not too prone to holding water to my knowledge. There's a 'tactically oriented variant' called Goon Tape (cringe) which sells pretty well over the pond. Skateboard tape is of course a classic in this area which has been bodged on to firearms for decades because, again, mega rough texture, super hard wearing and I think it's waterproof or certainly resilient enough for the purpose at hand. The McNett/self adhesive camo stuff is also a big one that you can see used over and over again by civvie shooters, SF guys etc etc on key areas around foregrips and on handguards/securing tape switch cables. Just picked some up myself, has a very textured surface to it and can last a long while.
  19. I remember stumbling on this a while back when checking out their Spitfire sling attachment, but personally decided I'd never use such a setup for a sling and I'd say there's a reason it isn't popular out there. That aside, I'm assuming from a quick look at your profile that you'd use it with a real stock, so that part would hold up (for a while at least), but I'd be suspect of the other airsoft parts of 99% of replicas holding up to the weird leverage forces if you ever run it as a 1-pt. If you have found a real life pic you want to replicate for the funsies then fair enough obviously, but I'd say that lower receiver end plates with QD sockets/normal side-of-stock QDs are infinitely more popular for a reason.
  20. Didnt the us marines adopt it or am i mis-remembering?
  21. Any idea why the pistol was stuck per chance?
  22. The recoil on my bolt m16a4 is very good imo. Much stronger than an ngrs and quite similar to an mws. I do worry how long before it'll break itself though.
  23. Exactly. From a customary glance of Wikipedia seems like the Belgians (very logical choice) and the Portuguese choose to make it their service rifle. The HK416 being adopted by a lot of the high speed folk didn't help things.
  24. IME they still felt like an AEG to shoot and the mechanism was just another thing to break. They still make AEG noises. It's like, slightly better to shoot but it doesn't feel like recoil at all. It feels like someone taped a rampant rabbit to your receiver.
  25. Tbh it's not surprising given that they never really got that much adoption, and most of the European stock of them were donated to Ukraine. Which is currently functioning as the graveyard of all the Cold War Classics.
  26. Yeah the split gearbox design is aoe problem central, i very quickly gave up on it running as an aeg. It became a testbed for shenanigans for a while until i eventually had a polarstar jack spare and a nozzle long enough to turn down to suit. Fixed the mag issue by heretically grafting a mount to fit an m249 box mag But even then it was just too big and cumbersome to be useful in game so i gave up on it.
  27. At the risk of derailing the OPs thread, how do they compare to GBBRs? I'm a recent GBBR convert, to the extent that my previously entirely satisfactory AEG no longer interests me, despite its obvious benefits in the cold. I know an EBB is never going to match a gas powered BCG, but are the NGRS options good enough to make it feel less like an AEG and more like a GBBR?
