Hendy
Helmet and safety glasses. Where did you get that all from? and how much did it cost?
Cheeky vimto
Where did you get that all from? and how much did it cost? Amazon/ebay. Altogether with delivery it's about £65-£70. I don't use the mesh goggles, I tried them and didn't like them and prefer glasses.
Junglespy
Currently in the process of modding a mesh mash to fit my face while wearing a FAST helmet, mesh goggles and also allowing my sordins. Will post on here once I figure it all out!

Fumps
It's a poor show that I cannot see pictures on forums at work but when I got home last night I saw the helmet idea that Mr Vimto uses & think that a belting idea. Just out of interest has anyone tried the base jump helmets with the goggles built in ? are they good or are they crap ? My thinking is the mask attached to the helmet with the built in glasses may be a way forward.
Russe11
Think I saw them on Airsoft GI's youtube channel. The visors look cool but are not suitable as eye protection, you would want to wear additional eye pro underneath.

Yeh I was thinking that maybe a second layer just in case but it's a risk buying a helmet & the visor smashes your kind of wasted cash for nowt
Supporters jcheeseright Posted November 22, 2013 Supporters Share Posted November 22, 2013 Someone on another forum did a test on the helmets with built in visors, a BB went clean through at 400fps, definitely NOT safe for skirmishing.
Cheeky vimto
Ah thanks do you remember the names of all of it?Another one to copy my helmet! Lol Helmet; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00EQ0RJQI/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The mesh mask is just a normal 1 strap mask you can get anywhere. The helmet comes with the small clamps and I just cut the strap on the mask and fitted it. Just attach some padding to it and its so much more comfy than having straps running on top of your head. The goggle straps on the back of the helmet I got from; http://ant-supplies.co.uk/Pages/default.aspx I was a bit weary buying from them as nobody else had heard of them. They were brilliant, I had the straps in 2 days. The goggles didn't quite fit perfectly. The design of them had a little lip that came too low on the cheek. I chopped that off and as you can see they fit really well if you wanted to use goggles. Other than the lip the goggles are good as they aren't bulking, they are very low profile on your face. Googles; http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007Y3KWNQ/ref=oh_details_o05_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I think that's everything? Supporters M_P Posted November 22, 2013 Supporters Share Posted November 22, 2013 Here's the link: http://arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/159597-helmet-pictures/page-82 And if you don't have an account: The visor is meant for a specific helmet, not the FAST bump, so it would need custom brackets for the hinge points. All I've done is pry the foam lining at the front of my FAST bump out and wedge the lens firmly between that and the outer shell. There's no "seal" at the bottom, so an overscrupulous game official could disallow it on that basis, but due to the size of the visor and overlap with my face mask there's no path a BB could take to reach an eye. I'd have no qualms using it IF the lens was capable of stopping BBs, and to that end I bought a spare for destructive testing. I was going to test it all the way up to 3J, but a .25g BB at 1.2 joules went through like butter, leaving a nice round hole. Two more rounds shattered the the Emerson visor into several pieces: I can't say I was shocked, but plenty of cheap polycarb eyepro is made in China, there're really no excuse for marketing something this dangerous to airsofters. I guess I'll be looking at motorcycle helmet visors now.

What percentage of people do we think have the foresight to check out helmet/visor combos on forums before buying, compared to those who just buy? The worrying % is how many kids get their parents to buy them one. If the helmet is advertised as being safe I bet most parents would take the sellers word for it. Safety isn't usually top priority for kids, just as long as it looks good.

Unrustle_Thine_Jimmies
Mesh glasses(Cheapo ACM ones) It's hard to f*ck up perforated steel but the chinese can surprise you. If it's cold I'll fire on a balaclava and I usually have a bandanna or soviet military cap for MILSIMS as part of team ID but otherwise it's bare skin,I don't really care for looks anyway. The KLMK hood doesn't count for protection because that shizzle's wafer thin. Planning to bodge up my own glasses with a steel frame and stronger wire mesh,.Need to finalize the drawings and get moneh though.

The KLMK hood doesn't count for protection because that shizzle's wafer thin. Planning to bodge up my own glasses with a steel frame and stronger wire mesh,.Need to finalize the drawings and get moneh though. My research so far indicates that, of the meshes commonly available, the SS316 #8 0.71mm wire is the minimum necessary for safety. It's the stuff I have in those ESS Advancer V12's of mine. However, it will not stand up to more than a single full auto burst. After that you'd have to retire to the safe zone and change lenses or complete eyewear. It is so good for vision though that I'm determined to find a way to make it work. There is one type that I haven't been able to get hold of to test yet - I forget the specs exactly, but something like SS304 0.86mm #7 - that may well be strong enough that a simple slight convex shape and bending the ends of each wire around a single perimeter wire (to resist deformation that results from pulling the wires out of their grid) would do the trick. Visually, it would create dots no bigger than 1.22mm at their longest dimension - my guesstimate is that approx 1mm is the threshold for invisibility, so this stuff should cause slight shadows, but it still ought to be clearer than that standard small hole perforated sheet stuff... I really need to get around to trying out my quench hardening idea. I did mean to a couple of weeks ago but my fucking coalman didn't turn up - eh? In the 19th century are we...!?! No, but with a butane torch it would be difficult to make the entire finished 'lens' glow at the same orange colour so that when I drop it into oil, it all hardens the same. If this is a soon-medium term plan of yours, I can have a trawl through my receipts & shite and let you have some links/company addresses, specs, etc. but some of it would have to wait until I go home, which could be 10 days yet. Oh yeah, I tested a pair of those ACM perforated mesh goggles to destruction a while ago - they can't handle more than one full auto burst either. bornleverpuller
I'm quite happy with mesh, I know people worry about splinters but I see it as a marginal worry more risk of breaking your ankle down a rabbit hole.

I have found that the rentals I have been using very difficult to do that when using face protection.
Supporters jcheeseright Posted November 23, 2013 Supporters Share Posted November 23, 2013 I have no problem looking down sights with a sansei style mask on, the plastic face guard fits very close and it's flexible enough that pushing your cheek against it will allow it to bend.
