Fatknees
Hey everyone,i need help to purchase either a green gas or a co2 gbb pistol I just cannot decide what to go for? Thanks
Baz JJ
I have both CO2 and gas weapons and quite like the CO2. I find it quite quick and easy to put the capsules in, but I haven't been able to compare running cost yet. I presume CO2 works more evenly all year round ? What pistol are you looking at ? murph
CO2 all the way brother. It's MUCH better in colder temperatures, and you never know when the weather will turn in this country, it's good to have a pistol that'll work year round! That's not to say that green gas guns won't work in cold at all, but they'll suffer from massive cool down and FPS drop.
AK47frizzle
With gas, you would need to carry a canister around unless you have tonnes of mags in a game but filling the gas is almost fool proof. With co2, the capsules are very easy to store in pockets. first time I saw a co2 capsule, it's not even longer than the palm of my hand (I think). But installing the capsules in the gun mag takes longer but you get more shots out of a capsule than one refill of gas. Co2 is more powerful, gas is less powerful. Co2 guns require more maintenance since it is not mixed with silicon but you can get one that are but they end up costing more than gas. Co2 guns are generally stronger in construction, to cope with the 800 psi (i think). Co2 works all year round but then again, more maintenance. the-sarge84
Got to say its Co2 all the way for me. The blow back is so crisp and consistent performance all year round. Capsules are easy to change and cheap to buy. I get 4 mags of 18rnds out of each one.
Supporters M_P Posted August 25, 2013 Supporters Share Posted August 25, 2013 There are a lot of sites that don't allow CO2 to be used so bare that in mind. I'd go with propane, it's so cheap and usable at pretty much any site.
Fatknees
C&G xtreme .45 co2 seems to have good reviews on zeroone but still undecided?
Baz JJ
I looked at those but in the end rejected it based on looks (too shiny) and the fact that the slide movement on blowback isnt as much as most automatic pistols.
Supporters M_P Posted August 25, 2013 Supporters Share Posted August 25, 2013 C&G xtreme .45 co2 seems to have good reviews on zeroone but still undecided? Don't get one, the FPS is extremely hot and there's no way of lowering it.
two_zero
Propane. Cheap, most guns are not out-of-box hot, slightly more powerful than green. Been shooting propane with my kwa ptp i darn cold weather.
Kaza66
C&G xtreme .45 co2 seems to have good reviews on zeroone but still undecided? Ditto with what Markus said. I chronoed my at Patrol Base and asked him if it would be site legal. He came back and said: 'In a word, no' - it was about 480 fps. He said there was no way of downgrading it either. So I got a WE G18C in the hope WE would release co2 mags. And they did. So it's all good.
HaroldTheFear
I've got a WE G35 and run it on C02. It's really good, the kick is so crisp and on full auto the difference is really noticeable. I get three mags out of one capsule and see barely any drop in power even to the last bb. C02 is definitely my choice but as already said above more maintenance is required, changing the capsules takes longer and a lot of sites don't allow them at all. The mall and Urban Assualt being two both saying the C02 ones are less consistent and run hot. Having used this one and chrono'd it the fps stays at around 280 (10 fps up max) throughout the whole mag even on a hot day. Maybe older ones were less consistent and caused issues but it's frustrating to not be allowed to use this one when my gas mag on the same pistol can be anywhere from 230 up to 370 depending on ambient temperature. The WE full auto pistols require a modification when you use the C02 mags. A part is supplied with the mags but is easy enough to change and once done well worth it. Hopefully one day will be more accepted as it's best for this country for sure!
