Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted May 22, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 I think I've made a holster thread before but I couldn't find it for the life of me. Anyway, now I've got my MEU and my Viper holster doesn't fit it, I'm in the market for a replacement. I'm planning to fit a silencer and a tac light at some point down the line, but maybe not both at the same time, so I'm wondering if there's any holsters I can get that will cater to those needs? joshcowin
you might be able to put it in a desert eagle holster.
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted May 22, 2012 Author Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 Doubt it, M1911s are very slim considering they're such a high calibre. Desert Eagles on the other hand are more closely related to bricks than handguns. There'd be too much extra space to either side, it'd be a very loose fit. Any suggestion is better than no suggestion though, thanks, Josh.
Tariq
I've seen some Blackhawk Serpa LVL3s, which allow silencers and taclights... although im assuming it will come to around £200+ from the states
Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted May 22, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 just got myself a Blackhawk lvl3 for my XDM. not a bad price really, certainly not a cheap option, but the speed of draw and security more than make up for it. If you pick one, give us a ring at the shop and we can get one ordred in for ya (they're around £100 depending on model)
Tariq
Yeah i've got the standard P226 drop leg one... But for flashlights you need the one with the back removed so the light fits. Im sure thats a little more expensive.
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted May 22, 2012 Author Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 I guess I'll just have to use a mag pouch or something when I'm using the tac-light. To be honest it'd probably fit perfectly into a mag pouch then. I'll settle for an M1911 specific holster then. One of those ridged plastic ones with the push to release button? What are those called/how much are they/where can I get one/are there any bad things about them? Cheers guys. Dave, I'll have to make an enquiry about them next time I'm in. I'll probably make a visit shortly because I've nearly assembled all the bits for my M16, just need a new motor, the front end and the body kit, which are all in stock somewhere or other, I just need to get paid. But I'll need PB to fit it all since I lack an armourers wrench to get the front end off and I figure I might as well get it serviced at the same time. Supporters M_P Posted May 22, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 They're called Serpa's front blackhawk- uktactical have them.
Supporters Rock-climby-Dave Posted May 22, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 22, 2012 They are called 'paddle holsters' Blackhawk make them (Serpas - brand name) IMI make them - not sure on the product name - search IMI holster. I own both companies and I have to admit that the blackhawk is the better holster, but costs twice as much (at the very least and model dependant) Blackhawk also have a HUGE (and I mean Huge) selection available in several holster levels (1, 2 and 3). Having said that, IMI are not bad by any means, they do the trick nicely and the price is very very nice on them at £30 a holster.
Supporters Airsoft-Ed Posted May 24, 2012 Author Supporters Share Posted May 24, 2012 Will any of the M1911 moulded ones hold an MEU as well? 'Cos I can't find any that are specifically labelled as "For MEU" and since they're such a tight fit I'm worried that the squared off under barrel rail, as opposed to the rounded under barrel of M1911s might cause it to not fit. Supporters TheFull9 Posted May 24, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 24, 2012 You've got a few options for moulded holsters: Blackhawk SERPAs Safarilands (generally the 6004) IMI holsters G-Code (my person favourite by a long way and the brand I've sold all my SERPAs to replace) Kaluban Cloak (all custom) Off the Grid Concepts (as above) They're the main ones that spring to mind. R.e. the railed portion on your pistol's frame, that will prevent fitment in a standard moulded 1911 holster. You'll either have to do some cutting + filing, or buy a holster specifically for that type of handgun. G-Code do specific holsters for them, not sure about Blackhawk or IMI (which are the easiest 2 brands to obtain in the UK). If you wanted to keep the light on the weapon then Safariland do a mind boggling range of options to fit every combination of handgun + light in every colour, G-Code also do an excellent modular system which allows you to buy one main holster and different lower cowlings that can be switched to accommodate different lights. Saltyyy
I have an IMI 1911 belt holster and it works great. Does anyone know if you can take the holster off and fit it onto a drop leg platform? And which make if so?
Supporters TheFull9 Posted May 27, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 27, 2012 Unlikely I'd have thought, not seen an IMI drop-leg platform thus far (not that that means they don't exist obviously). I'd suggest taking the holster off your belt mount and posting up a picture of the reverse side, we might be able to tell you based on that. Supporters M_P Posted May 27, 2012 Supporters Share Posted May 27, 2012 If not, a mole drop leg pannel would do the job :-)
