  1. It was through watching The ManCave vids that made me want to do this Can I also ask, as I'm still trying to get my head round Polarstar, as I am aiming at a gun that will be semi only, what would be the most suitable one to use? Obviously I don't need burst control etc... Does/has your friend made public his set-up?
  2. Here's what I use: I made them from a pair of Nuprol mesh goggles (About £15) and a standard mesh half face (£10) I grip tied them together and filled the gap, perfect comfortable full face protection. I always run the risk of a shattered BB going through the holes but I've taken direct sniper hits to these and I've never had an issue! Problem with Goggles is fogging! I paid out £90 for the Wiley X nerve which are superb BUT... On rainy days they fog, when I sweat too much they fog! I always come back to mesh!
  3. Very true but it's based purely on the concept rather than end goal if that makes sense? My local sites ask for no dmr "spamming" so that's not really an issue! I've seen a couple that have been done the hpa way and they're stunning!
  4. Fair enough! I've been looking at the polarstar site. They mention the A&k Sr-25? I suppose what I'm trying to say is are the polarstar engines compatible with most guns as a drop in replacement?
  5. Believe me when I say I don't normally care what a gun looks like. I'm not really a gun lover but I know there's a lot of people that try to build on mostly looks alone. With this however I would like to stick with the standard dmr look, M4 (ish) body. Long barrel and a 4-9 scope I think with this I'd like to aim for as best quality as possible. It's early days and I'm still working a budget but getting the body of the gun would be a great start. I've seen some crazy demos of polarstar and I think I'm still buzzing tbh! I'm aiming at a top quality build.
  6. So if I'm going to use a polarstar engine, what base gun would be best? I was thinking sr25 as it takes a long inner barrel stock, although I know the joule creep would be crazy. What's a good recommendation?
  7. Well... Not really! Building a 400fps gun that's goal is accuracy is a bit different from just a "hot" gun! My VSR fires at 500fps but the power only accounts for part of the fun! Accuracy was my goal and that's what I got! If you think I'd be better off with a 400 fps pistol then fine but that's not really helping me! I'm asking about where to start a dmr polarstar build.
  8. Hey guys, I've been toying with the idea of a DMR, having fallen in love with my VSR sniper rifle and the whole "Sniper" role I thought I'd just toy around with the idea of a Polarstar powered DMR. So.... Where do I begin? Most sites around me have a 400-420 fps limit
  9. Would it be possible for you to store the at the Uni? Maybe ask a teacher/lecturer if they have a secure storage room to leave things in? Explain what it is you do, be open about it! everything else you can keep in your dorm room but maybe if you invest in a lockable case they'd hold on to it in the week.
  10. Hehe, I bought a TM recoil, I use PTS Pmags which are "stunning". BUT, Pmags wont fit in the T4 ;(
  11. G&G Midcaps are a bloody nightmare with that gun. As a test try the hicap that came with it. I bet that's fine, G&G don't actually make a mag that fits the bloody gun! Stupid I know although some have said that you can either file the front/bottom lip of the magwell to help the mag fit in a tad looser OR file the front of each mag. Alt' buy different mags! I used MAG brand mags but after a month I got the same issue! best option is to go into an airsoft shop and ask to try some different mags. Sorry, not the answer you want, I ended up selling the gun as the hicap was the only mag that worked (Although it required more winding than most hi caps). It's a great gun when it's working so don't give up like I did. It really is a case of finding some decent mags for it though!
  12. I have a couple pairs of Emerson trousers with the built in knee pads. I bought one pair new for about £60 then another pair of here for £15. They've been perfect! I've also used the blackhawk kneepads which are good but the backs of my knees after a day's gaming look like mince meat!
  13. But if I told them I was going to chrono with .2's but i'd be using .43's would that still be acceptable? It's being dishonest to a point but I can't complete if others are getting away with it! Yes! I realize this is a BIG BIG issue and most people are just avoiding it! I'm happy to play on either side of the answer, MED sort of solves the issue but I don't want to be the one guy that is adhereing to the rules when no-one else is
  14. So, would Combat South insist on chronoing me using my .43's? I spoke to Russ this morning and he said that they prefer to chrono using .2's? I'm not trying to sneak a hot gun in, it's more a case of making sure it's "One rule for everyone".
  15. Turn a chair backwards then clothes peg an old tea towel to it! The cloth wraps around the BB to stop it. You occasionally get a flier but if you have garden fences that'll protect neighbours! Problem with zeroing is you really need to set the hop first (Although if you have a short garden then the hop won't really do anything anyway!) If you're trying to zero a scope I find you need to find the rough middle setting (Normally I wind both dials full lock then count how many turns to achieve full lock the opposite direction) this is usually 8 turns, so turn the dials 4 rotations to get a sort of "Rough centre" fire a BB and correct, If you can get the Left/Right adjusted OK then you can adjust elevation on site!
  16. Sorry to necro this but after a month or two of trying to make good my claim of a 100 meter sniper.... I've F*cked up! It appears that my Gspec has been experiencing Joule creep! I've been firing .43's at 2.99 Joules! to remedy this I've cut 3 coils off an M150 to bring it down, now fires at 433 with .2's but 340 with .43's! I think i'll probably be the only person at my local site with a correct gun but from the sh*t storm that I've just created on FB looks like I won't be playing there much longer! Can I ask, does anyone go to a site where they ask you to test using the weight you intend to use for the day?
  17. Yeah, all nice and airtight. The only time it lost a stack of power was when the cylinder head worked loose (I bought the proper tool to tighten it). The ASPUK head has an O ring plus I've PTFE taped the thread. I'm about 90% convinced that the problem has been the M150 ASPUK spring. Ive been bold and clipped 1 & half coil from the Laylax M170 and it's reading 490-500.6 (I put 100 BB's through it first). The question is now, how much will it lose?
  18. Anyone??? I've put a Laylax M170 in, it's now chronoing at 516 fps. What do I do now?
  19. Hi all, so here's my current problem that's driving me up the wall. I had a few months ago my TM VSR Gspec upgraded by ASPUK. (Advanced upgrade that includes: Steel Cylinder, Cylinder Head, Piston, Spring Guide, M150 Spring, EZ 90 degree trigger and a Type B hop arm.) When I first got it back I took it to my local range (Ford) and I was amazed as it was hitting 90 meters + with .43's. (Much to people's disbelief on the forum lol) anyway, I took it to 4 skirmishes and noticed each time that the range was slowly decreasing. I realize that the spring will bed in and lose power over time so I chronoed it and was alarmed when it read 435 fps. (I paid for 500). I stripped it down, and realized that the cylinder head was a bit loose so after tightening it properly it chronoed at 465 fps, not bad but I was expecting more. I've been in touch with Darren and he sent me out another M150 and for good measure an M160. I first put in the M150, back at the range I was hitting 90 meters again but after half an hour it was decreasing and I chronoed it at 480fps (It was firing at 505 when I first got there). I've now swapped to the 160 which chronoes at 530, after half an hour's shooting it's down to 516fps but It doesn't want to go lower than that. With all that in mind I've now decided to try a Laylax M170, I was told to try that (Over the 150) and after it's bed in see what it's reading, If it's still too high then cut a coil off. My question is, does that all sound like a good idea? I'm hoping to achieve 490 fps at least but I just don't know whats going wrong, if it's ASPUK's springs then fair enough, I've not seen any other people complain but like I said, the range dropped really quickly, I was only getting 50 meters reliably by the time the power had dropped.
  20. I've just bought a pair of the Wiley X Nerve goggles. Yet to take them to a skirmish but I've spend the whole afternoon out in the garden doing some cementing and they've not fogged once!
  21. Just a quick follow up to say my G18 Gaurder pieces arrived today, 9 days in total!
  22. I use .43 Nuprols and they're superb. There was an issue with a previous batch though (They're rebranded BB king's). If you have a standard bore barrel then you should be fine!
  23. I have the TM glock 18c running on we mags with green gas. We mags seem to be better than the TM ones. Looser fit which seems to aid "blowouts" as I call them!
  24. Fantastic! Do you know if they're the dual lens or single? There's only about £10 difference but I've had a bad experience with dual lens snowboard goggles by Oakley. Just don't want to waste money!
