  1. Mine takes LR44's so I suspect yours does as well (this one presumably: http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk/airsoft/bb/product.asp?page=product&id=GP121)
  2. Its not the money she is concerned with, its the welts. Every week I come back with a nice collection of them and everytime she goes doe eyed when I get undressed and she sees the extent of it. CQB is brutal for injuries from getting shot.
  3. I have been going through this and all I can tell you is what doesn't work. A pair of Boole raiders (goggles that look like glasses) takes a custom prescription carrier. Got those gazed at specsavers with standard (plastic) lens and they fogged/rained out almost immediately. Could not see a thing. I tried anti fog and it works to remove fogging but replaces it with rain on the prescriptions lens which just distorted the vision. All around it was terrible. I am trying a set of desert locust fan based goggles and without carriers the fan does work for a good 30 minutes so far. However the carriers and polycarbonate lens may or may not still fog with the fan going. I will let you know but the end result for me has been less than great so far.
  4. So impressed was I by the video that I got one of my own. I do have a problem, mine does not sound anything like this, its more pew pew than clickty click! How do I fix my hand gun ?!
  5. Most guns also don't come with really high end tightbore barrels either. Some of the top guns are coming with a tight bore but it can usually be improved upon. Equally most are coming with standard nubs and basic hop ups and moving to a higher quality bucking and H nub is a primary first step to better hop consistency although it would be nice if high end guns started coming with R Hops or flat hops. Still a lot to do to even a high end gun to get it shooting at its best.
  6. Typically the 450-500 limits are defined at .20 BB's not 0.25s. Make sure you have that right.
  7. I did a bit of digging into this last week and it seems that the SCAR H mags should fit into SR25 pouches. Don't hold me too it but that appears to be the way you go with SCAR H mags.
  8. How much do your teeth matter to you? Mesh masks are about the best way to keep your teeth, but if they don't matter much to you nor does your face having welts then running without a mesh mask is all fine.
  9. For a lipo charger it will be a smart charger, you just want to make sure its also a balance charger. Other than that someone else will have to fill you in on brands, I just bought a VapexTech to go along with a Vapex battery as someone somewhere recommended Vapex batteries. Its certainly worked pretty well so far.
  10. I don't think its an issue, I prefer the fact the guns are lighter and the polymer G&G uses is great. But he did ask for a metal gun in the OP so I mentioned it so he was aware that while the gun itself is lovely it doesn't meet the all metal requirement. At £300 you might be able to get a VFC, they do have nice externals.
  11. The SCAR guns take a mini type battery, which according to http://uk-airsoft.myshopify.com/collections/batteries-and-chargers/products/8-4v-1600mah-2-3a-nimh-mini-battery is 107.0mm x 34.0mm x 17mm. So in lipo terms you could probably fit an appropriately shaped 2600 mah lipo into the same space. (http://uk-airsoft.myshopify.com/collections/batteries-and-chargers/products/vapex-airsoft-7-4v-2600mah-25c-cranestock-lipo-battery looks like it should fit, its shorter but potentially too wide in one direction depending on how it goes in and how much space there is). I would ask the store you buy it from.
  12. I am bit more practical than that. I dislike the M4 because of the high stock, but I also recognise that M4 magazines are vastly better than anything else in terms of options. The SCAR L combines a lower stock which is better for a mesh facemask and can take M4 magazines and has the rail space to fit just about anything. It might very well be an ugly looking gun but its very practical from an airsoft perspective. Internally its pretty upgradeable as well, the only real drawback I feel is the battery, which is of the small type due to that folding stock.
  13. The main concern with the g&g is its probably not full metal externals. They tend to use a polymer instead pof metal on most m4s.
  14. I would recommend a lipo as well. They don't need to be discharged, they don't have memory issues and they are smaller for the same power storage. They do require a more expensive smart and balance charger, but you should be buying a smart charger for a nimh anyway to avoid overcharging so it wont be much more. They may very well improve trigger response and rate of fire as far as I can tell isn't much different to an 8.4V nimh. While 11.1 lipo's are a too much for most guns the 7.4s are not as brutal. As to the tightbore a Prometheus 6.03 should do the trick. I am still not sure what the gun comes with, it could be a standard G&G 6.08 aluminium barrel or it could be a 6.03 steel one, you will just have to check. They changed it somewhere in the gen 2 top techs and different reviews have said different barrel types for this gun and in typical G&G fashion even the catalogue doesn't say which it is. They really need to work on their information set for these guns and what they are made of, if there is one place I ought to get reliable info on the barrel and such is in the catalogue entry for a top tech gun! Rant aside you'll find out pretty quickly which it is as there is a big disparity in the accuracy from one to the other at 30m.
  15. I can't argue for the out of sight out mind way of looking at this problem, the answer has to be more honest than that IMO. People make these sorts of mistakes without understanding the law, letting it be by proposing the criminal lie about what has been done doesn't strike me as responsible adult advice. I suspect that all that needs doing is the two tone reapplied to the items, but they might be in the "speak to a lawyer" territory. We had a guy prosecuted just last week for painting a two tone gun, this is serious stuff.
  16. At my local site I am certain they would be asked how they got it. Some guys on their first game out got questioned about their Combat machines just this week gone. Turned out the marshall's hadn't spotted they were actually transparent so all was well but they do question that sort of thing. I think it would be a good idea to tell your friends they have committed a criminal act that has a fines and potentially hefty jail time sentences associated with it. Taking these to skirmishes would not be a good idea. If the friends aren't likely to do anything as a responsible individual you need to explain the VCRA to the parents so something can be done.
  17. I would go for the G&G for a couple of reasons: 1) My G&G has treated me well so far no real complaints. 2) Its shorter. Longer barrels don't really help with accuracy and since I play a lot of CQB the shorter barrel helps me. 3) The G&G is lighter, CQB again a lighter gun helps me get on target faster. Not as realistic but practical. 4) I prefer the colour scheme and the look of the G&G over the G&P. But I also think both of them will serve you very well.
  18. The TR4 CQB-S is likely going to be my second gun, I just love the look of the internal suppressor and its a nice short CQB gun with good internals. G&P and G&G are both good makes you wont go wrong with those. KWA, VFC and Tokyo Marui are some of the top ones as well if you can afford them. The price will reflect where it tends to be in the overall hierarchy of quality for the most part.
  19. The one thing that has always bothered me about this gun is I can't find it on G&G's website! I have seen it for sale, seen plenty of reviews of it saying its decent but I can't find the official product page. That makes me nervous. As far as I know its a G&G gen 2 top tech parts. The main issue with it like most SCARs is the battery compartment is quite small in the folding stock. At 350 fps its a bit hot for most UK sites as well, and taking these SCAR's apart is horrible by all accounts, a lot of screws holding it together. I think the main upgrade it will probably need out of the box is a tightbore barrel, if its a gen 2 the barrels out of the box aren't great so you likely want to replace that when you downgrade the spring.
  20. Please don't buy from justbbgun. Go to proairsoft or landwarrior or firesupport or any of the other reputable places, justbbguns is not a good store to be buying from. You could get a G&G top tech Gen 3 with a mosfet for £250 at proairsoft and that would come with a tighbore barrel, 8mm Ball bearing bushings and recoil out of the box, those are great guns with decent accuracy.
  21. Either a flash mag (uses a string that you pull on which is much better than a hicap) or a mid cap - which uses a speed loader and there is never any winding at all, all BB's are under spring pressure. Mid caps are only about 90-130 rnds but they don't rattle like a hicap.
  22. Its the magazine. The hi cap magazines you get with the G&G guns have a wheel, and you need to turn them until the sound changes, which in my experience is about 20 winds worth or so. I personally found that I only got about 10-20 shots out of it before I had to wind it again. What happens when you load the magazine in is about 4 rounds are pushed up in to the hop up unit, the top of which is at the entrance to the barrel. So just loading the magazine will slacken some amount of the spring already so you will need to wind it up a bit afterwards. But if you overwind it you can damage them, so its kind of important to wind it the right way and to wind it only until the noise changes and no further. When I got my gun I also bought a G&G flash mag (350 rounds) to give me a total of 700 rounds (good enough for most games). I use the flash mag first because its quicker to wind and it fires most of the magazine without additional winding. Depending on what you want to do in he future you may find getting some mid caps would be a good idea as they tend to have less feeding issues and be a bit more realistic.
  23. If you fire it without a BB in it do you get a good volume of air out the end and does it sound normal? If so most likely nozzle or hop up is restricting the BB. Otherwise something is most likely wrong in the gearbox.
  24. Personally I would go with the mod 1. The main reason is its shorter, since I play a lot of cqb I don't want a long gun although they are both kind of big (I am considering a cqb-s myself). It also comes with a mid cap which I have a preference for after playing in Epsom where the high cap rattle gave me away. Multicam also looks good with desert guns. Internal wise beyond different barrel lengths they are probably the same gun. While its nice the R8-L comes with a RDS its probably better you chose something appropriate to your face protection and style of combat. I make sure I can defend any scope I buy from BBs sufficiently so support for a killflash or specialist BB shield is essential to the choice. This doesn't look like it comes with protection so it wouldn't last long.
  25. Its mighty impressive he didn't get shot. The speed of draw and the amazing read from the officers that he wasn't drawing to shoot is incredibly, if that had been the USA that kid would be dead with about 10 bullets in his chest. I can see why the police would kindly like the RIFs out of the country when there are idiots like this around carrying them down the highstreet.
