  1. We had a game where you had to take a trolly loaded with "bombs"... Flashing lights... And deliver them to various locations. But you could only use certain paths and there were blockades in the form of film props... Those cross things that they used on beaches to stop landing craft. To clear them... They all had smoke grenades, and if you pulled it, the barricade got taken away... Made fine some interesting firefights.
  2. Just had a spare half hour... And a spare but leaking mag... Should be good with a bit of paint and hydro dip.
  3. The chill out area, im more thinking of as an event... Maybe once a week, or fortnight... The range is incredibly hard to pay for and organise. I was thinking tech lessons, kydex lessons, hydro dip lessons.
  4. Another quick question for you all… We have some unused space… Or at least, we could do, with a bit of work. It’s a warehouse building… The whole shop is, partitioned by some retail walling… So thinking of ways to use it… How about this… Couple of sofa’s, projector, XBox, PS4, etc… Free tea and coffee and Game nights for airsofters… Some Halo, call of duty, maybe some raffles… Just a fun and friendly night. The shop would be open to browse, etc… But mainly, it’s about mates getting together and meeting others for a friendly laugh. How does everyone feel about that?
  5. I honestly cant state either way, but common sense would suggest that theres absolutely no reason on earth to use propritry parts on a mass produced unit. Why go through the expence of designing, testing, tooling and manufacturing gears, tappet plates, etc, etc, etc... When you can just call a supplier and have however many delivered... Lets face it, probabally the same ones you have been using for the last few years, and already have hundreds of... There may be a special arrangement, if you design needed it, but you would strive to keep as many common parts as humanly possible, to keep costs down to a minimum. So your V3 box (or whatever this uses) may have certain casting differences, or special modifications based on design, but ultimately and in all likelyhood, wont differ internally
  6. Ive noticed that a lot of the Ares "reviews" and opinions given are hearsay, if that helps. Ive seen about 12 ares guns in the flesh and their owners are extremely happy with them and have been over 4-7 months (fortnightly) use (depending on person). I know Ares used to have issues, but I think they have come a long way recently. Im in fact selling my VFC M4 to get a couple of them. When I came to looking myself, I asked for opinions, and got "their crap, bad internals, etc... " then I asked how many of those people had actually owned one, used one, handled one or looked inside one... None but 2, had. And one of those 2 had been inside it upping the power... SO that leaves me with a single bad experience! If you like one, get one. Odd models in every series have quirks and maybe issues, so find solid evidence of the specific fault, but dont listen to the blanket "ares = useless"
  7. Cheers Mack... They have some nice prints. Thanks for the info.
  8. Mack, do you mind if I ask what company youre using for your films? They seem to have some nice camo patterns...
  9. Thanks for the review there, Ian... I'm glad they worked well for you. I have to admit, they werent fully tested for non-molle applications but as you say, thats a simple fix for ya. I'll look into something more suited for your application. The strips, I could sell them seperately, if you really wanted... But all they are, are cooks match strips, cut in half, with sticky back velcro added... Nothing spectacular at all... I would suggest building them yourself for cost reduction. Im happy to do it, but paying me for such a simple thing goes against my instincts. lol... That said, If people wish to buy, I'm happy to make. As to the colours... I have some in black I think left over, although I've had some minor issues with the steel inserts I use as the supplier has changed dimensions. If you would like some in black, Albiscuit, let me know and i'll push harder to get another supplier. As it stands, I have built up all my previous stock of inserts into browns, tans and greens. They seemed to be the most requested colours by far (multicam not withstanding) I'm hoping to get these made by a 3rd party soon, at a little lower cost to customer with a higher range of colours. I'll keep you all updated, but at the moment, I'm having to spend a lot of time with the hydro dip and kydex as I have a lot of customer orders and display pieces to do.
  10. Yeah, I see your point... I'll ask the guys to add it to the serch box.
  11. Hi All, such a lot of info… I’ll try and get responses to everything… I think what im mainly hearing is something that shouldn’t really need saying… Don’t take the pi… Mick… Real stock levels, genuine customer service, competitive prices, but people don’t mind spending a little more for a lot of extra support or confidence and do what’s expected… The site is actually my first port of call, at the moment it’s quite… Childish, I think. You can see it already www.rydair.co.uk a company is already redoing this for us, and were set to have the finished beta in Feb… Ish… From there I can start to make some of the mode finite changes. The main changes already being done in the site coding. I will be changing a lot of it to be a lot more simplistic and user friendly… At the moment it’s a mess! I’ve already agreed to take 2 days a week from any related work to specifically update and maintain the website so that any bugs can quickly be addressed and any faults cut out. This also gives me time to do some gun walk around in video form. Not a review as such, but a FPS, weight, rate of fire, unique features, some stills… 2 minute videos for each item. I’m also currently writing up some much more detailed descriptions, as I personally hate the bog standard list of numbers… That should be there, but that’s not everything… It’s just so soulless… I think that’s a lot of the issues with some sites, they just copy and paste, then move on. Where’s the fun in that? A lot of airsofters know what they want, but just as many don’t… And I think some special notes on any given gun would help. The site itself is already running and has been for quite some time now… Its profitable, but only by a very small margin, so my job is to really make it better than it is… Hardly a simple feat, but still not impossible given a decent staging ground. I like the idea of free shipping on various things, but that really needs to be looked at. We already offer free on anything over £100, but I’m looking to significantly decrease that. The stock issues… or more so, carrying stock, we have a slight advantage there… A new wholesaler has opened up and has sole distribution rights for G&G (I’m told) as well as stocking ASG stock as well and a few other things. That wholesaler is 10 minutes away from the store, and I drive past it on my way to work, so all ASG (and by association, ASG ultimate internals and upgrades), as well as G&G stock can be held by them, but accessed by us at a moment’s notice. This isn’t the same as holding the stock, but we can update stock lists from the wholesaler in moments… I’m looking into the coding to do this automatically. Granted… This isn’t the best possible, solution, but it fixes a lot of issues in terms of stock holding for us, and stock capability… I’m currently arranging daily check ins on my way to work, so that I can see all stock, talk about any of the days issues and orders and have a very good (and first hand) knowledge of the stock levels available. The idea is to have at least 3 of each gun in stock, and then note how many are available, via the supplier… so… G&G raider 2 in stock 12 available This should help mitigate a lot of the stock issues for those manufacturers. In terms of the others, we already have good experience with Ares, WE and Double eagle, as well as a few of the two tone companies… The company as a whole also owns UKBBGun so we have a lot of diversity. I’ll be offering the higher end stuff, as well as lower priced items available from the other company. I want someone to be able to come in and get themselves a £90 gun, or a £900 gun. And be confident that they have what they need and not what we want to sell them. I also want to step away from the elitist crowd… At least in terms of how I stock the store. There’s no earthly reason we shouldn’t stock combat machines next to polarstars. And if you want both hydro dipped, that’s just fine… Its not my place to judge how you spend your money. I liked your idea about removal of zero stock items. I think this is something we can easily code. The site will always have a reasonable stock level so I think the bare issue will be less of a challenge. As it goes, I have budgeted £8000 to order in some of the bling as a showcase… Middle of the store, some display cabinets… Hydro dipped mini gun, some decked out pistols with custom paint and engraved slides, some AEG’s in carbon bodies… Just to show what can be done for bespoke orders. Even if no-one can afford it, seeing a fully dipped minigun has got to be a rarity and nice bit of shop decoration. As it stands we have about 30 various rifles in that are skirmishable and id like every customer to at least see 3 or 4 rifles in their price and style range. That means a wide selection of representative stock is held… So… “We might not have the exact G&G M4 you want… But we have a selection of M4’s and G&G stock, so we can show you how this particular model is build and you can pick a style” which is better than a lot of stores... I do like the idea of the surplus store actually… we can certainly look into that. The shop as well can be seen on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Gtechservices if you scroll down a bit. I hope this covers most of the points, and if I’ve missed anything, please let me know… And of course, keep it coming! On a side note… Ian, how did you get on with the holders? Managed to skirmish with them yet?
  12. Ha... Markus Surplus Store... Theres a name from my murky past. That place was... Interesting... When *I* was a teenager! I dont think youre really pointing out anything extra special... That all sounds like standard proceedure, or perfectly simple to impliment.
  13. My apologies all, I didn’t quite know where to put this. But anyway… I have recently taken over an established airsoft shop (Rydair airsoft supplies) and it’s my job to make it… Well… far better than it is. It’s had a good few issues… Bad website, bad management, bad stock. But that’s what I’m there for. So I wanted to ask what people might like to see in a shop? The website is being worked on as we speak, so now’s the time to start gathering players input. Obviously there’s a whole host of much more noted retailers, so what would be different about this place? Realistically, nothing of true note in the retail side… It will have the same brands you’re used to, and at normal prices. So why might it fare better? The idea is to have all the services you would expect… General tech, R-Hop, custom builds, etc… But also services that don’t usually occur in other stores… Things like custom Kydex, custom paint, hydro dipping, tactical sewing, laser engraving, machine work. Also a dedicated YouTube channel for reviews, tutorials, etc. not just of airsoft equipment, but of game play, bushcraft, knives, tactics… Things of general interest. Plus some far more technical areas… CFD analysis, mathematical models, testing and development. So what would you like to see in a “new” store? What would make it stand out for you? What would capture your interest? What do you think is missing from your current favourate shop? Any input greatly appreciated.
  14. Honestly... I came home. It was nothing to do with the game, but I was feeling rotten, and like you say... The weather was crap too... And no idea what the sniper actually is. It's a gas jobber... Also had a play with an asg sniper... Was surprisingly good!
  15. I go to every event at Banbury, just heading there now with s new sniper
  16. I don't mind giving lifts... I'm helping a guy out tomorrow for his first game, actually... So if you fancy it at some point...
  17. I live in Northampton and regularly go to rift in Banbury... In fact, I'm there tomorrow. It's a fantastic site. Exceptional value for money, really friendly, great atmosphere... Check out the site www.riftairsoft.com I honestly couldn't recommended it enough.
  18. The elite shooting centre has two tone guns if you want something spectacular... They can also help with action shooting advice, I think.
  19. You could also get a two tone pistol hydro dipped for prettiness...
  20. Depends where you get it to be honest and what pattern... But just Google hydro dip UK... You'll get 5 or 6 suppliers. You do get waste, but not silly amounts.
  21. I think it's generally quite easy, if you have the right kit and mindset... I'll post up the pistol by wed so you can have a look, plus a full report... Maybe even a vid.
  22. So... I got home at about 6 and all I could find was some "feet" from an old cabinet that were roughly the right base colour... So... Sadly I left all my project guns at work... But I've prepped a sig 226 for Monday morning... So for any interested, I'll be uploading the result. I may make a thing of this... So I've got about 10 gun carcasses to practice colour variations on... So lots of pretty to come!
  23. Hi there, I'm actually the new tech for rydair. The store will be going through some changes over the next few months... Better brands, stock and services... Some of which I don't think any current store offers. I'm next in on Saturday to go over some stuff with the owner... So pop in and say hi if your about. I'm Chris. Or Gadget... Whichever comes first
  24. Stuff like this really needs a jig if your not familiar.
  25. Your only real option for a hard holster is custom kydex, I fear. But the condor stuff is good.
