  1. I always pack some beef bbq jerky, fill up my water bladder and add some electrolyte tablets... Cus the Berry ones taste nice. And that's about it... I get lunch at the event.
  2. What's not to understand? ... Their a simple gas piston mechanism. The science is roughly 1920's technology. Breaking down the entire conversation... - They have plastic slides, break with propane - Use metal - But lower power - No... Slide heavier, but more power in propane. Weight up, but also power up... Equal... Balanced - You don't understand physics. - Here's some simple physics and "Newton's first law" - No, you don't understand the mechanism. So... I'm not sure there's any point in continuing this conversation at this juncture. I've spent the last 3 years simulating/testing gas flow, pressures, gas expansion, stress, strain, mechanisms and complex engine dynamics... Which is exactly this in terms of the science... But I'm happy if you live with the idea that I don't know what I'm talking about if it brings this conversation to an end. I don't want this to be considered an admission of failure to give the correct information, but for those reading at a later date, they should have a rough idea of why I didn't engage further...
  3. That's only correct in a balanced system, where the force supplied is equal to, but does not exceed the f I races required to cycle the system at the defined velocity. So basically, f=ma. If f>ma. The system is overpowered. At that point, to balance the system, you need to increase the mass or acceleration. Your spring comment then becomes f=kx-ma. But that still assumes a balanced system. Your comment also hinges on equal energy and force. If change the force of the system, you would equally need to balance the mass, and spring force... Or slide and recoil spring. But there no reason to get so aggressive over it, son.
  4. Which is why mine stays plastic... I was just pointing out options. But worth noting again... Is that by increasing gas pressure, you offset the increased inertia to a varying extent. Remember it's an unregulated system though... It doesn't actually use more gas. The energy needed to cycle the slide and project the round isn't balanced against the mechanism... So I'm not sure of a loss of power when using high pressure gasses. I'd need to check, but I think slide velocity dictates the gas useage... I know it did on a recent sig rebuild... I'll have to check the hi capa. If its the same type of mechanism, I think the math would add up. I'll have a look tomorrow.
  5. Kind of... You can buy new ones, upgraded with metal slide, upgraded barrel, loading nozzle and hop rubber for only £55 extra... And the slide doesn't really affect anything. Mine, out of the box, out ranged (more accurately) most modified pistols... Even with its standard slide. Fires a nice 270fps or higher on green... The metal slide conversation would make it an excellently durable pistol. Not that it isn't already... Certainly worth noting.
  6. I'm holding my tm hi capa right now... Steel frame. It's completely standard. I'll conceed on the meu based ones (MD) ... I think the version I saw was modded, thinking back on it. But the hi capa is most definitely steel, as standard. (JC)... Notice the wear pattern next to the tm name...
  7. In all the cases I've seen... All the hi capa and 1911 guns... Only the slides are plastic. And they can run propane fine, but not in the summer or generally warmer weather. There's some notable exceptions, but anything with 1911 style controls is bulletproof. You can also buy metal slide TM hi capa for not too much.
  8. You can also get custom stencils made, or have someone hand paint it... If you had that sort of cash...
  9. All serpa, all the time.... Their fantastic holsters.
  10. Ah... The teams are arranged in no particular way. You all sort yourselves out to red or blue by standing either side of the courtyard. It's not as haphazard as it sounds, because mates/teams stay together, and everyone else gets split down the middle, regardless of numbers. They then do a count and balance the teams. Any large teams are asked to make sure they apposed another, so you don't end up with 4 teams vs a group of random "walk on" players I believe rift prefer you to book your day, by making a post on their forum, so they can arrange things properly. But it's free. That said... People often turn up unannounced. They also have feedback and loads of photos on every day they run, so you can get a feel for what people think, before going. It's all on their page/forum. Last game they supplied a machine gun emplacement, with flash generator and sound effects... It was pretty badass, by the look of it...
  11. I routinely play at rift. I couldn't recommended them enough. Excellent games, good food, good community... Their excellent... I actually dropped my first site to go exclusively to coms site 3...ill go to their other sites as soon as I can. I've only heard bad things about close action...
  12. Can be done on anything...
  13. I'm not sure about strict two tone... But I like bright colours. I almost got a "harvest moon" 15-22 not long back... That's mainly bright orange. The platinum purple also got a serious look... Nothing wrong with a splash of colour.
  14. If you must be strictly pistol... Get an aep. Full auto, 100 round mags, full pistol. I am personally planning on sporting a tiny ares amoeba m4 with 3 hi cap mags... Something to lay down some serious fire if needed... But I plan on keeping it purely as a secondary to make sure I don't forgo team firepower on a personal whim. Playing with a pistol for the next 6 months will greatly improve my skills, then I can alternate at will. After I can get good with a pistol... Or more to the point, with better field craft... It will be time to get a mk23 and make a proper silencer... Then it gets fun...
  15. I use pistol only quite a bit... The limitations can be overcome with decent field craft and planning. Even with some theatricality... You might not have the range or accuracy to make a dent in a defended building... But taking your time to move around to a slightly blind position, then running to the open door, shouting "coming in lads, what we got?" should get you close enough to silence a room and get your foothold... Before now, I've had small conversations with opposition before shooting... For the weapons... I'd only use tokyo marui pistols. Gas or electric.
  16. They can't be by their very nature. They expel unregulated, variable pressure gas, that's stored in a tiny variable pressure vessel. The first round will be firing at a different velocity than the 10th and 20th round by quite a margin. Then if you run the same experiment the next (hotter or colder) day, you'll get different results again. If you fire off a mag faster or slower... Different again. If you keep your mag in a pocket against on a rig... Different again. The same gun could run entirety different results based on; Ammount of rounds fired. Day performed. Time of day. Rate of fire. That's not consistent by ANY measure, I'm afraid. You take any aep and any gbb and test them (full and semi) at 2pm on a hot summers day and then at midnight in the winter... One will give VASTLY different numbers... In fact, I recon on a winters day, if you dumped a mag... I think that the majority of the time that level of inconsistency would even show such a variance in temp that the gbb would freeze and malfunction.
  17. The guy also quoted 150ft...45m... Which seemed accurate... So calling it effective at 30 isn't a stretch. Maybe even 40... But past that is what a main is for. I'd sacrifice the 5-10m for consistent, accurate fire and quadruple the mag capacity with no cool down. I've seen loads of gbb fire well at 50m...for the first few rounds... I'll never see one fire a mag consistency The trigger response... That's a job for lipo and mosfet!
  18. Well... For the price of 1 mag... You'd get either 28 on semi (gas) or 100 rounds on full (elec) ...i bet I'd drop more rounds on a moving target at 30m In fact... I'd bet the gun on it
  19. If you look... The guy is standing next to fencing... In the UK, those are spaced about about 9ft apart or 3 large strides... That seems about right. I count 5 of them... That's around 45ft. Now that's firing into the back of a car garage... What's the average garage length in the states? ... In the UK, it's 8x16 for a small one... I'd wagers the US has bigger ones... That makes that first shot about 61 feet... The fence spacing inaccuracies should counteract the garage differences... So that seems like a perfectly valid distance...
  20. That's one view... Another is that their more accurate, more consistent, hold more rounds, aren't affected by weather, lighter and can run for longer than any gbb equivalent... Plus less seals, valves and gas to pay for. Here's a quick video for a cyma... Should be comparable... CYMA 1911 AEP Accuracy Test: Effective 30m headshots, plus full auto, plus the above... Perfectly viable...
  21. Well... The rifles... Their just rifles. There's a myriad of gbb M4's, and the 417... Well... It's just going to be an excessively large 416. The usp... It's not my style, but it's just a gbb pistol. It will be as good as most other stock gbb pistols... But the aep... That can exactly match my pistol of choice, use the same or close serpa/kydex, same "training" won't be affected by winter and I can carry 5ish mini mags in 1 normal pistol slot. Plus as a backup... 100 rounds in a pistol package with a lipo... That's an awful lot of sidearm. My normal 5 mags, upgraded to hi cap... That's a fully automatic, lighter, 500 rounds, in the bleakest winter... Tactically... That aep has far more going for it than the others I think.
  22. If your fingers are bleeding from paracord weaving... You're doing it wrong I quite like that weaved one... That's a lot if cord on hand!
  23. Yeah... Looks that a kydex holster and stand doesn't attract much additional value... May as well keep the bits and sell just the pistol. 60ish seems about the going rate. Cheers all.
