It's a number of variables, length yes but most important being number of coils and thickness of wire.  And as @Sewdhull says it's the N force in the 60mm or so in the cylinder.  Every gearbox is slightly different so you'll get some variation.

1.3mm vs 1.4mm thickness makes quite a difference.  Also quality of wire.  I went through 5 Chinese companies before realising they their grade of steel wasn't good enough and in the end switched to Japanese steel.  Quite a long, painful and expensive process!  I've had my tester M110 spring now for 4 years, must be 500,000 through it so maybe I'll do a video on it soon and compare it to the new ones.

For some customers who are unsure what spring to buy I've been sending out my tester M100 spring, along with their order.  That way they can benchmark with the M100 and then either keep or return.  Just saves a few pennies for anyone strapped at the moment.

Stop worrying about the length of the spring and focus on the power rating; that is what matters.

Is the spring you fitted one you purchased from me?  If so you just grab the power just down from it.  I'm away at the moment but can sort something out soon for you.

Right, I'm enjoying this home teching malarky but there is so much to learn. Like not all springs are equal. Like not equal in length!!! I suppose common sense should have told me that a longer spring, even though a lower rating, would make it more spicy than the standard m110 spring! Who knew that G&G use a shorter main spring? Well, I did actually when the seller told me! But did I realise the implications of that! No. Well I did but it was after I had bought the new spring and wanted to get it put together. Impatient? Me? Absofuckinglutely!

Anyway, got it all put together and it shoots lovely. The protruding bearing is not an issue at all.  My delivery of parts from @ak2m4 just came and although I am very happy with the service and cost, I didn't need it but will definitely being using him again. Thanks Pete.

So, no pics this morning but while I start searching for springs in 160mm length, can anyone point me in the direction of some?

Oh, I'm probably going to take the new spring out and cut 10mm off the end. Got nothing to lose at this point!

Looks to me like you've fitted a 3mm wide bearing under the selector plate but a 2.5mm on the bevel gear.  Ideally you need 2.5mm bearings.  You can fit 3mm, in fact EZO (3x8x3) get their extra strength from being 0.5mm wide.  EZO do 2.5mm wide but the set I tested exploded.

    Can you measure them?

There's no offence committed by purchasing[*], or attempting to purchase, within the UK. If you can persuade someone to sell you one, then it's legal for you to buy it.

It's entirely up to sellers what they accept as a defence, as they're the one committing the offence of selling. Sportsman Association / Shooter's Rights / JustCost are all bogus non-defences, but that's their problem, not yours.  Or some sellers accept Military Vehicle Trust membership to adduce the re-enactment defence.

The other thing you can do is contact a retailer directly and provide some evidence that you have a history of playing airsoft. It's entirely up to each seller what they accept.

[*] Somewhat bizarrely, it is an offence to modify a non-realistic imitation firearm into a realistic imitation firearm, but not to buy it.

But you'll never find anyone who cares.

Better yet, why dont you buy a used rif, that will be cheaper than new, you won't need a UKARA for, get it as a set with a case, multiple mags, batteries and everything you need to get you started and enjoy.

A UKARA is one of those things you need to BUY NEW rifles from shops online. You technically need it when selling rifs online, however I never see anyone actually check. So you can just go buy a non two tone rif on used websites and enjoy. You can also buy a two tone rif and remove the colour at home yourself, these use cheap spray on paint, theres multiple posts regarding using rubbing alcohol and decolouring them.

Went to South Coast CQB for the first time in about 8 years yesterday!

    Overall a good day, but....

Marshalling was pretty woeful, several times the two marshals assigned to our side spent the entire game sat at spawn pissing about with their phones. The other two seemed to be a bit more on the ball so there's that. Lots of whingeing about hit taking but personally I didn't see a problem. I think there's a lot of people whose guns aren't as good as they think they are!
The site is a LOT smaller than the last time I went. The whole back half of the site has been fenced off by the landowner (presumably because the buildings are less fucked and able to be rented out).
Teams were massively unbalanced and there was no attempt to address it. We got our shit pushed in and spent most of the day within about 100yds of our spawn point (that's on us, I am aware).

On the plus side, my SCAR full of @ak2m4's upgrade bits performed excellently, although my MP9 managed to get a BB stuck under the nozzle and went through a kinetic disassembly.
Good day overall, not in a massive rush to go back though. There's other sites that are the same/less distance that I'd rather spend my time at.

As @Lozart mentioned, I think your CORE model has a 460mm inner barrel as standard, presuming a full cylinder?  (you'll need to check).  If you move to something around 360mm then something like a 4/5 cylinder would be better.

I just received a new stock of Outer Barrel parts, not sure how much the Laylax set is?

Ok, so for me, yes I would say go for a programmable mosfet (I personally prefer the Aster because I have the app on my phone and I can program it and get diagnostics without having to remember how many times I flicked the selector and what colour light means what).

Consistency shot to shot is your friend when looking to improve performance at range so things like making sure you have a good airseal are more important than a shiny piston, as long as your compression parts are working well enough. My personal route would be:
check your piston/cylinder airseal - take it out, put your finger over the cylinder head outlet and try to compress the cylinder. If it stops solid or at least gives you a good amount of resistance then it's fine, leave it alone. If it offers little to no resistance, it's garbage, change it out. https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/pistons-heads/xt-v2-v3-cylinder-piston-head-pom https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/pistons/xt-14-tooth-piston-blue https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/cylinders/zci-stainless-steel-cylinder-4-5 or https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/cylinders/xt-cylinder-anti-heat-4-5 IF your cylinder is damaged or not the right vent positioning https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/nozzles/xt-m4-nozzle-aluminium better nozzle with an airseal o-ring CLEAN the inside of the gearbox and your existing gears refit and shim the gears properly to reduce friction/slop LUBRICATE your gearbox properly - ie not excessive amounts of grease, use the right sort of grease (Abbey LT2 for the mating surfaces of the gears, applied with a small paintbrush). Don't overdo it, any optical MOSFET will throw a hissy fit if you get grease on the sensors. Make sure to lightly lube the rubber sealing parts (piston head o-ring, nozzle o-ring) with silicone grease. Set up your mosfet of choice with a bit of precocking if you want to but make sure any settings you make are appropriate for the motor/gear combination you have. Unless you want absolute hair trigger response, 13:1 or 12:1 gears are not always necessary and can lead to pre-engagement issues. Better hop rubber and nub - the Maple Leaf combo mentioned above is pretty much the easiest route right now but be aware that the ML rubbers have quite long feed lips so bear that in mind if you start to get feeding issues. the new XT inner barrels are VERY good there is a particularly good deal on the 6.00mm ones at the minute https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/inner-barrels/xt-inner-barrel-aeg-600mm Use (and I cannot stress this enough) DECENT ammo. I wouldn't necessarily say you need a super duper CNC hop unit but to say don't would be hypocritical of me (I have a few Maxx units and I'm looking at the Silent Industries Alpha one for a build too), but I have had perfectly good results from bog standard plastic hop units when paired with a good barrel and rubber.

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend the XT motor over the Nuprol one https://www.ak2m4.co.uk/internal-parts/motors-parts/xt-high-torque-motor-22tpa-long-fan (mostly because he seems to be out of brushless ones for the minute). Alternatively you could look at the ASG Infinity CNC motors https://www.zerooneairsoft.com/products/ASG-Ultimate-Infinity-Motor-with-Long-Shaft-U-30000

Don't get caught up by the reddit and Faceache "experts" telling you that you have to short stroke/DSG/HPA the fuck out of everything and it all has to be made from CNC'd aircraft grade billet.

    Hope this helps.

I would ditch your suggested hop rubber and barrel and replace them with a 50 degree Maple Leaf Macaron with a red nub from AK2M4 and one of his XT barrels as well.

I would also replace the Aster with a Perun Hybrid.

This is genuinely great to hear, and I fully commend them for doing it.  However, I'm unsurprised that it's gone wrong for them.

People often threaten to "sue" without the first idea of what that means, or what their cause of action would be.  In this case, it sounds like the site has more than demonstrated their Equality Act Section 20 duty to make reasonable adjustments for disability.  Tolerating dangerous behaviour can't be "reasonable" though, as they also have a duty of care to everybody else there.

Sad, but reality doesn't always allow for a win-win.

If there's a tangible danger to others then someone's disability or neuro divergency / whatever is irrelevant.  I'm in a mixed race marriage, I'm somewhere on "the" spectrum, I have three nephews anchoring said spectrum to the ground, my teenager is mixed raced (and currently hating it) and I think our gay friend contingent is just about offset by my devout muslim workforce.....  So I like to think my worldview is pretty balanced.

That being said....   We spend too much time in this world worrying about those differences, when really we should all be treated with the same consideration and respect as we wish to have.  Therefore, if you're one of those that should be seen next Tuesday, then you should be treated thusly.

I remember coming of age in the 90's and caring more about people being nice to one another than worrying about their situation.   Airsoft sites need to worry about people's eyeballs more than they do the ability to walk, think, self identify... I think that is probably how society should look at things too.

"I don’t have any more time to waste with you on this as you obviously seem to be bored and just want an argument. The VCRA section is an addition to the base policy INDIVIDUAL cosplayer cover. The same as the cinema ADDITION for groups that I already clearly explained. The VCRA section is just there, you don’t have to use it. It’s part of the whole package that we provide you for a measly £20 a year. If you have car or home insurance, you don’t have to, nor are you expected to have a fire, flood, theft or accident at once. It’s also part of the whole insurance package, for your own peace of mind. I’m refunding and cancelling your policy as I personally consider your lack of basic understanding to be an additional risk in itself. Goodbye and good luck."

Shame on the retailers that accept it alongside ukara, their greed also puts the game at risk, the people behind ukara should withdraw it from the retailers that accept cos-play.

I wonder what the next steps would be.  We don't want any attention brought on airsoft, but it seems like a financial service being mis-sold.

The usual sequence would be: complaint to company -> Financial Ombudsman Service, but as this is a naked scam, straight to the FCA might be an option.
