  1. Been running mine on 9.9 life since I got it. I've noticed that it gets hot too but haven't had any problems so far after about 5k rounds. If it does fail I'll probably upgrade the mosfet.
  2. I've been running a Gen 3 CQBR for a while now. Build quality is good. Internals are strong (nothing you would need to swap out straight away), with very good compression. Everything inside the shell is standard v2 stuff, barring the cylinder), so upgrading should be straight forward. Hop is very stable, rarely needs adjusting once set for you brand of BBs. Just swapped out the spring for a stronger one (the stock one, by my reckoning, was an M95). I quite like the blowback feature - its not really recoil, more for visual and sonic effect. It does make gearbox teardown a little more of a a pain tho. The ability to disengage the anti-reversal latch with the forward assist (or from the side of the gearbox) is a nice feature. Spring will last longer and makes taking the gearbox apart less fraught. As for the MOSFET, I did have a discussion with the blokes at Pro Airsoft Supplies and there have been reports of returns due to mosfet failures (possibly being run on 11.1 lipos but I cant confirm that). I've been running mine on 9.9v life batteries and had no problems so far (must have put 4-5k rounds thru it so far). Overall I would recommend if you are looking for something that works well out the box but has lots of upgrade potential down the line.
  3. Running an M95 with high speed gears may lead to pre-engagement issues (less so with a 7.4 lipo). If thats the case, consider - lightening the piston (take the bearings out - if you have a BB spring guide, swiss cheese, etc) and/or short stroking and using a harder spring.
  4. I would give gearbox a total clean up. Reshim The gears if they are OK, replace if not. Replace the piston and head. Set aoe with sorbo.
  5. Bridge Too Far - dont remember who said it. A: What are you doing? B: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone. A: I don't understand. B: 'Cause there is a dead man on the other end of this fuckin' line
  6. Flung in a heap in my office
  7. Bah, cutoff levers are overrated!
  8. SHS high torque or Lonex A2. Both are excellent.

  10. Just bought a Helikon soft shell jacket, a 5.11 combat shirt and some Alta knee pads.
  11. G&G do indeed still make the TR4-18. There are quite a few sites stocking the Gen 3 version. Very good guns for the money. I currently run a Gen 3 cqbr.
  12. Crack out the multimeter!
  13. MAG mags for the win. Cheap and very cheerful.
  14. +1 for MAG magazines. Wouldn't bother trying to get more fps. As mentioned above, any gains in range would be minimal. Accuracy is all in the hop and barrel. G&g are pretty well set up stock.
  15. Wait for your ukara registration before getting a gun. The temptation I'd great but if you can hold off and use rentals you'll thank yourself later.
  16. I wouldn't put anything less than a m90 in it. You really shouldn't need to.
  17. Yep +1 on it being a wiring issue. You'll have a loose connection/solder or short somewhere.
  18. Just bought a ticket for the AI500 event at the Sandpit in Aug for green team
  19. Posted this pic in another thread. 20. The burst wizard can be used "plug and play" inline with the battery, this will give you burst functionality plus the current protection for your motor. It won't do anything for your trigger response and won't protect your trigger contacts. To get the full benefit you need to hard wire (solder) it to the trigger contacts in the gearbox. Full instructions are included with it.
  21. Sounds like the hop nub arm is jamming. You may need to take the hop apart and make sure the arm springs back freely. Could be some cack in it. I recently fitted a Lonex hop unit to an AEG and I had to sand a shade off the sides of the hop arm to get it to move freely.
  22. Its a moving diagram of a typical (vers 2) AEG gearbox. The only important bits missing is the magazine, which is fed using a long spring in a mid cap or a wound spring in a hi cap and the hop up, which is the part that adds back spin to the BB as it gets shot up the barrel. Its this backspin that gives the BB its range (due to Bernoulli's principle if you want to get really geeky).
  23. Those both look fine. If you can stretch the budget to a decent digital charger such as: http://www.componentshop.co.uk/accucel-6-digital-charger-3281.html you would do well. As for the motor: http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/upgrade-part-s/upgrades-aeg/motors-parts/shs-high-torque-motor-long-type.html are excellent. Mosfet wise, something like this: http://www.air-lab.co.uk/products/electronics/power-mosfet.html The price difference is usually due to some being programmable and whatnot. If you're not bothered with being able to do burst mode etc then a basic, quality one such as above will do good. If you do want burst mode, these are good (I have one hard-wired into one of my AEGs) http://www.airsoftworld.net/new-2014-burst-wizard-king-kong-super-2-mosfet.html Word of warning: you will need to open the gearbox and get the soldering iron out to install a mosfet.
  24. If you aren't going to do the tech work yourself then speak to a decent tech and tell him what you want the gun to do. He should be able to advise you on what upgrades to do and how much it will cost. If you want to do the work yourself: High torque motor + lipo + mosfet + deans to start with.
