  1. Yeah good one, guess that would do the trick, the steel is pretty thin tbh, though would obviously be a permanent change, albeit not a major one. Short of anything less permanent that could be the way forward.
  2. Looking for ideas on fitting a single point sling to the steel folding stock, there is a sling loop on the right side of the stock (though it feels a little rattly & flimsy) but I want something on the left side so the gun will rest correctly at my right side if you get my drift. I realise this means I may not be able to fold the stock but thats not an issue for me. Anyone have any cunning ideas?
  3. I've currently got a taste for JD Tennessee Honey for its slightly sweeter bite, but I do have a taste for a nice smooth single malt, Aldi currently have a couple of fine looking single malt Scotch's, an Islay and a Jura, so hoping to try one over the festive season.
  4. Not sure how bringing a rif through customs into UK works in this scenario. In theory as you already OWN it it shouldn't be a problem I guess, as VCR act doesn't concern itself with ownership.
  5. I won a Double Eagle version a few years ago, clone of the G&G, never worked particularly well. Just replaced the gearbox shell (due to it breaking up) with a Classic Army one, most of the other internals having already been replaced, and swapped the weedy motor out. Also bought 2 extra G&G hi caps for it. As a design the UMP must be just about the easiest AEG to work on, its just so simple to strip down.
  6. The oeiginal means of powering gas guns back in the day was inert Freon gas (HFC134?) as used in fridges, car air conditioning etc, no risk of fire but unfortunately it was found to destroy the Earth's Ozone layer and was quite low powered to boot, hence the change to 134a, replaced in turn now by 144a, as well as green gas and propane. In the late 80s there was a company making cheap "guntanks", which consisted of a small tank with a stirrup pump which was connected to the standard fill valve on the magazine by unscrewing the gas valve. The tank was then pumped up by hand, clipped onto your belt or slung on your back and off you go. Power seemed reasonable, you just pumped it up again after 50 shots or so. So free power once you had the tank (which was about £15 iirc). I'm kind of surprised no one has developed the idea further, esp as external hpa is now becoming popular again.
  7. yeah not always easy to judge sizes from photos. Glad you got it sorted. I notice Madbull do a 16.5" M4 barrel as well as the 14.5", didn't realise there was a version that long!
  8. Afaik that is correct about rail length being just the top (or longest) surface length, and without the adapter fitted to it. I always thought barrel length was the full length from barrel tip (so including thread) to the prongs that hold the hop in place, but I'm open to correction. I have a 10" M4 barrel but it only measures about 9" from tip to receiver, on a gun with KAC style rail and standard M4 front sight. On that Madbull 4" rail link the outer barrel is 7" not 9", which would sound about right I guess allowing both for an inch or so hidden in the receiver and for the rail adapter fitment, plus half an inch of thread, so only about half an inch of barrel showing proud of the rail. As the Strike Back gun looks to me like a 7.5" ish rail (apologies again if anyone knows more definitively) then if so going with Madbulls idea of a barrel 3" longer than the rail gives a barrel around 10 to 10.5" so should be spot on (Madbull's website is worth a look as their range of barrels and rails is massive). Sorry its not especially definitive but hope its helpful. That is an awesome looking gun in fairness!
  9. As per everyone else, go for the DE M56 or new TM Breacher. Had my M56 about 6 years and not had any problem. Range is good even with the fixed hop in woodland. Its the long fixed stock version so there is a little flex, wouldn't want to use it inadvertently as a walking stick lol but nothing major.
  10. Never heard of them before, clearly aiming at the budget 2 tone sector. Always wary of sites that don't give an address or phone number though.
  11. Have you checked Firesupport? They do a lot of parts for KWA/KWC/KSC Glocks. All the same internally and made in the same factories afaik. For instance my now quite old KSC Glock 23F came in a KWA Glock 19 box with gold stickers added on the box, no attempt made to cover the KWA logos etc.
  12. Ian Gere had a thread on the same subject not too long back, search for "AK Franken build" on here, lots of options were discussed. (Can't link off phone sorry)
  13. It needs mentioning that most retailers warranties won't cover using green gas or propane in Marui GBB pistols. There have been a FEW instances of such pistols allegedly being damaged by using these gasses, though at what time of year such damage happened is open to speculation. So having understood that using these gasses is to some extent a risk, each person needs to decide for themselves at the end of the day if they take that risk. I have KWA Glock 23, TM 1911 and TM M9 pistols, all have plastic slides, and I have used them all with propane with no issues in colder weather. I took the same risk that many others have taken and can only say it works for me in the guns I have, on colder days: it was a choice of take a calcated risk or don't use a pistol, and in cold weather that is the stark reality, other than getting a NBB as SD said above, or an electric pistol like a Cyma Glock for instance. The way I looked at it was that gases expand (increases pressure) on hot days and contract (decreases pressure) on cold days. So using green gas on a cold day is likely similar pressure to 144a gas on a hot day. Maybe someone else might want to give specific figures to prove or disprove this but I find it works very well for me in all honesty.
  14. (sent from phone) what is best way of looking after steel receivers to prevent rust forming in nooks and crannies? When I used air rifles it was a rag with generic "gun oil", any better ideas out there?
  15. Looking at the advert on that site (assuming I'm looking at the right one) it says metal slide & barrel, problem is its not an airsoft gun, its a 4.5mm CO2 air pistol firing 0.35g metal bb's at 460fps?! EDIT scratch that,I looked at the bottom link and found another version, my bad.
  16. Only had a short time to go over mine as yet. Just a few thoughts to add to Chock's assesment above ^ the working parts do seem fairly free of lubrication out of the box, yet everything moves freely and easily. I will also be going over mine with a little lube in the right places though to keep wear to a minimum. It was nice to find so much steel present, though the hammer is alloy so potentially at risk of damage. When fired it hits a small raised cast dummy "firing pin" on the bolt which will probably wear fairly quickly, I'm going to experiment with fitting a small nitrile O ring around this cast pin to absorb some of the shock to the hammer and thus prolong its life (although a machinist friend is going to see if a steel hammer is economically feasible ) The original mag and the 2 spares I ordered all hold gas well with no leaks, though silent valves make judging filling tricky. On a quick test (indoors at around 20°) the gun initially functioned fine on 144a giving c.310 fps, though wouldn't empty a full mag before venting remaining gas. Abbey Brut Sniper was much better but giving around 360fps, emptying a full mag easily. Normal green gas should give around 350 fps, which I shall try along with propane over next couple of days. Shot grouping seems good at short range but not had a chance to see how the hop is at medium to long range yet. After AEGs the nylon fibre pistol grip was something of a shock, it is so skinny that with my hands it felt like a toy after an AEG grip with a motor inside, but I assume its true to the real steel in that regard. Trigger pull is also very light and smooth which again surprised me. Just need to add an AK sling now and wait for warmer weather!
  17. Very neat work Ian ^^ wish my sewing skills were anything like that good!
  18. Welcome to the forum! I take it you mean bb's are jamming in the hop rather than the actual barrel? Have you tried any other brand of bb's? Also would be worth cleaning the barrel, particularly if its a new gun, as they can sometimes have gunk in from manufacturing. If the bb's themselves aren't the culprit, and the barrel is clean it could be hop rubber isn't installed properly, if the gun is new I'd suggest taking it back to the retailer for them to check?
  19. In jest, but someone talented may see possibilites??! http://www.hasbro.com/rebelle/en_GB/shop/details.cfm?R=F9812DDF-5056-9047-F590-04F96E91C445:en_GB edit: who could resist shooting purple arrows? :x
  20. Cheers Chock, wasn't expecting such a big carton tbh (a G&G one which judging by its size held 2 or 3 M4's), its currently filling the back seats on my car. Only the gun, 2 extra mags and 2 cans of green gas in there but at least its not rattling lol. which new 74 are you waiting for?
  21. Bizarre one. Their accessories section (so mags, batteries, bolt ons) comprises a massive 7 items!
  22. Finally picked mine up from UPS Depot 20 miles away, after them just leaving it collecting dust for 2 days there instead of putting it on my local delivery truck ffs. The excuse? They are too busy. HELLOOOOOOOO its xmas period, is that not expected and planned for then? Useless idiots. Airsoft World are claiming my postage back from them and couldn't have more helpful in fairness, with phone numbers to phone UPS and actually speak to someone (which they offered to do as well). As a final irony I emailed UPS CS lady at address she gave me to complain, it came back from UPS marked "undeliverable". . . . ! Anyway not oppened it up yet as I'm working but will do so tomorrow. Finally.
  23. A lot of people use 12" barrel guns in woodland quite happily, its more down to your hop rubber with regards to range/trajectory. If your hop is good then yeah its fine.
  24. UPS are still sitting on mine. Useless tw*ts On a more positive note I've been in contact with Darren Chen at Star Rainbow (SRC) in Taiwan regarding spare parts, very keen and helpful guy, good news is spare parts ARE available (and listed as in stock)from their Taiwan distributor as per the following reply: (QUOTE: Thanks for your email, I would like you to know that we have authorized partner here in Taiwan. Please take a look at the link down bottom. You could find the parts you need and If you have any question please contact the following email address. 25. Nice one! Mine SHOULD have arrived today, at 4am it was marked arrived at my nearest UPS depot 20 miles away for delivery, 8am ready for despatch, but by 11am it had changed to delayed with the message "left at depot, delivery may be delayed by 1 business day" FFS! When I phoned them the automated message said its on its way but nothing turned up, so I'm expecting it to arrive tomorrow now. AW always been good with my deliveries to be fair.
