  1. Thanks
LazzurusMan got a reaction from Rogerborg in Loss of about 200fps
So, in case anyone else has this issue at any point, I'll explain what the issue/s was.

    1. Short troking and precocking without adjusting the tappet timing. Nozzle was coming forward just after the piston. Big loss of fps there.

    2. Shagged bucking. Speaks for itself.

    3. Crap mags. I kept getting anything from 160fps to 330 with the wind up mags I have that don't fit great but usually still feed. I switched to a poly midcap that fit better, and I went back up to a relatively consistent 343-345.

Thank you again everyone for your help, now I can focus on starting a dmr build 🤣

This is probably the culprit, and the other bucking I used to test is an old knackered guarder black, that everytime I tried to install would slide further up the barrel meaning the lips wouldn't meet the nozzle. Im going to do armaments today so I'll put it all back together, bring the rifle and my chroni and pick up a fresh bucking. That's if anyone else thinks I could lose 200 fps just from the nozzle not reaching the bucking?

So, when I installed the replacement gearbox shell, I rebuilt the whole thing. It should have been just as good as it was before the replacement.

However, I've just taken it apart again to check compression, and my piston head is NOT making a good seal. I hold a finger over the nozzle and compress the piston, and I can hear air escaping past the piston head. Iring looks ok, it VERY well lubricated. I have no idea why it's doing this. Anyone got any ideas??

Thanks to all of you I finally have my sig working!  345fps on .2s (I'll be using .28s) with about 27rps.

I do still want to replace the gears as the bevel gear is pretty much ruined, but it all works!

    So againb, thank you all!!!

So this started as an intermittent issue, it now seems to be happening every few shots.

The pistol fires, the slide goes back and then it gets caught on the hammer, which I'm guessing isn't locking back for some reason. Anyone know why?

Macron, and whatever this barrel is. Think it's a lonex 6.03? I changed it years ago, but I can't remember what I bought.

Just had a quick check, and it looks like the hop window is too small 😭
I can't see the whole contact patch coming through, so that's probably what's causing the inaccuracy.
This is what the hop looks like if I replace the macron with a guarder flat hopped bucking. Seems to be a much more consistent looking contact. Sucks cause the bucking wasn't exactly cheap 🤣🤣

Unfortunately I can't get the flash hider off. Don't know if it's just seized or if it's part of the outer barrel.

Tbh, I've spent so long and so much trying to sort this bloody Sig out, and I've lost one of the fire selectors (stupid crappy screws!) That I'm tempted to use some of the upgraded bits and just upgrade/fix my Ares mutant. I'll sit and think on it for now, if I can find a fire selectors or two I'll probably keep sinking money into this bottomless pit 🤣

All together, shimmed and tested. Doesn't screech, hits 31/32rps, and my FPS is entirely inconsistent.

    BUT IT LIVES.

I haven't got an awl, but I might try and gently scrape with a hobby knife or one of my tiny files.

Glad (in some ways) to know I'm not the only one, and that I'm not crazy. Hopefully now I can sort it and get the Sig back together again.

So my new shs 13.1 gearset arrived today, and Ive started to get eh gb shimmed and hopefully I'll have it alkl finished today. Or so I thought.

Gears are shimmed to the GB shell, and shimmed with a very small gap between each gear, but when I test to see if the gears are meshing well they seem to spin fine then get stuck/caught on something. Appears to be a problem between the bevel and spur gear. Anyone had a problem like this before?

This is the other side, but the problem isn't with the sector gear, cause the sector and spur gears run perfectly together. It's only when I put the bevel gear in that I get issues.

Managed to get a video that shows what I mean a bit better. This is just the spur gear and bevel gear in the shell, no shims or anything. As you can see, the gears lock up with each other and it takes a bit of force to move them, more than should realistically be required.

To get a new nozzle means taking the old one somewhere can can scan and machine an exact replica, or buying a second hand king arms Sig 556 to pinch the nozzle out of it. They're unique to the gun. It's a V3 gb that sits far enough back from the hop unit that it has a very long nozzle to work properly. I should be able to find a replacement oring somewhere.

LazzurusMan got a reaction from Rogerborg in Rounds getting stuck in hop chamber
It seems to have been my tappet plate, and one of my gears had broken it's shaft and I'd lost a tooth on another gear (no idea how, it's practically brand new but warranty void due to flat hopping).

Unfortunately, after putting in new gears the motor won't turn at all now.
I pull the trigger and I can feel the motor kinda "click" and do nothing else, even if the motor is outside the gun. I did have some damage to a wire where the pistol grip caught it, but I covered it with electrical tape. Could a couple of the strands of wire being broken cut power to one of the wires? Or have I somehow shorted my motor completely?

LazzurusMan got a reaction from Rogerborg in Need some help with my hop
I can't fit any other hop unit in the mutant, it has it's own design, a little like the hop unit on an aug. I have heard of people using maple leaf bucking and nubs in a mutant by cutting and filing the hop arm to get an omega nub to fit.

I might do that in the future, but for now I can get enough range on .25s, and now I know why .28s don't work, the hop is just realy sensitive.

Well the hop unit is proprietary to the rif, the one in that picture just shares the same hop arm but it's a different hop unit that screws into the outer barrel.

I don't get why the bbs would jam or just splutter out if the hop arm isn't pushing down enough. Honestly it's like theres too much hop. I had the same issue with the stock bucking, so I think I've got the first too issues you mentioned. It's got a very small sweet spot and I've gone over that point and need to very finely adjust back. Or just leave it and stick with .25s.
