Lowlander reacted to n1ckh in Encountering awesome/honourable player
The only honourable player I've seen so far was a guy who took a hit from me but turned out that I'd hit his mate but I was adamant it was him, he took the hit so we stood together chatting while we waited for a medic
I bought him a burger at lunch for being a decent guy

Lowlander got a reaction from cavninja in Another new bfg
At my regular sites we have strong rules about touching used BFGs - i.e. other players aren't to touch the BFG unless to hand it to a marshal or the owner. once deployed a BFG "does not exist" until it is recovered by the owner. we have had a couple of incadents where players have thrown / kicked other peoples bfgs intentionally and they have gone missing. that said we recenty found a TMRF that had been lost a couple of months ago on the site and it still functions fine even after sitting in the mud and elements for a long time.

Lowlander reacted to Pyro in Custom MP5 torch & Strobe
Caught myself a little short on cash coming upto a CQB (UKAP Bunker) game and desperately needed a torch. So a rummage around the scrap bin and I muddled this one together:
The light itself is an 7W 11v cool white LED housed in a machined aluminium heatsink. The lens is a repurposed CD case cover. There is a MOSFET mounted to the back to provide the power switching for the LED.
The light clamps to the gun by a machined bracket around the sight. Rigid attachment and doesn't impeed the use of the sight. You can also see the 3.5mm jack connecting the light to the controller.
Showing the light and the controller together. The two controller buttons are for strobe and torch. The knob to the back of the controller is a brightness adjustment for the torch. Useful for being able to see by without alerting people to your light. Please excuse the hot melt glue monster on the back of the light. I was running out of time.
Given more time, I would have used a microcontroller to control the strobe. But made do with a couple of 741's and a 555 IC. Here it is in prototype form.
All the electronics (except the swithcing fet and battery) are in the grip. The grip itself is milled out of delrin/acetal to blend in with the gun.
The battery is a 3 cell 11.1v Lipo (had one laying around) in the stock. The master power switch is on the side and there is an internal 2A fuse. The gun battery is mounted within the grip and is just a Ni-Mh
I don't have any plans to produce this mod, it was just a bodge, but I have got some other ideas to play around with using high power LEDs. I'll post when I have more

yes as the system stands you will vent the remaing CO2 in the mag if you remove to before its empty, from what i understand the point is to keep the mags as cheep as possable i.e. they were talking about $10-20 a mag, even a simple check valve would probably at least double the price.
