Tightness and length have no real say on range/accuracy. (to be honest, I've always had best results with weapons barrel less than 300mm and a suppressor in front of the inner barrel)
You want a quality barrel and hop rubber.
And the Hop rubber is BY FAR the most important component.

    I'll put it this way:

I have knowledge and experience using the Lathe in my (parents) garage.
I have the tooling to using the lathe
I have access to barrels to practice with
    I know what 'crowning' means
I know what it should look like and how it effects the BB
Do I actually bother to cut barrels down? No.
Just buy one the right size and save the trouble. If it was easy, Madbull/PDI/Whoever would make 1 barrel length of 650mm and let you hacksaw it off at home yourself.

My favourite is the one that goes "Its what the tech guy who fixes my gun said"
Always a bit aprehensive of listening to people who dont get their hands dirty themselves.

Is it definetly a 205mm you need? 229 is the shortest easily accessible one.
Try a 229, if it's a bit long cover the extra length, DO NOT CUT A BARREL DOWN, you won't crown it properly without a lathe and then you've negated the use of the upgrades completely.

Lubricating pistols is great fun for me. I hear allsorts being recommended by even my own co-workers:
Spray here, here, here, loads in here, give a bit in there and it should be ok.

    What you SHOULD be doing:
    Remove slide
Cloth/towell/paper to clean as much crap off slide rails as reasonably possible, should be grey coloured fine oil stuff coming off.
Spray on the piston head, quick spritz into the nozzle gas route
Small (2mm diameter) DROP (not spray) of oil onto the rails at the front and push it backwards with your finger.

Don't bother with the trigger mech, they're greased fine from the factory.

Any more than that or without cleaning the rails every time you re-lube and you're just making a grinding paste, accelerating wear on your pistol.

I don't suggest doing anything more than that on most pistols as they aren't real, and are going to break within 3-4 years MAX. maintenance is to extend the longevity of the product, but the product does not have THAT long a life anyway, so why bother.

Another tip, if someone asks to do something, ask why. If they know what they're talking about, they can tell you why to do something.

I've always had favour to the Madbull Blue, but they can be tricky to fit. recently been enjoying the (cheaper) guarder clear, but they are quite easy to tear (for a rubber, they don't just fall apart). Some people like some stuff that others wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

Try a Guarder Clear first as they are a good rubber for most stuff and if you don't like it, it's not much money really.

    - It doesn't look like he's got anywhere to store spare magazines, batteries, water, anything else that someone might want to take onto a airsoft field, and if he's wearing it purely because he likes the style, he might not want to be adding bags or pouches that wouldn't fit the uniform (emphasis on 'might', obviously I don't know his preference)
To be fair though, most hires don't either. I don't carry much beyond a spare mag or two in a pocket these days.
Being a dress piece, it's not designed to blend in, so he'll be spotted easier.
It's basically all black, I wear a black top and camo trousers, but I do regularly see people turning up to woodland in Black kit
    - It's obviously an item of pride to the owner, but running around an airsoft field, through bushes and brambles, kneeling or lying down, potentially slipping over, all risk damaging the clothes and ruining them. Why risk damaging a replica piece? Something designed for combat rather than ceremony is going to be harder-wearing, and isn't going to look so ruined if exposed to harsh treatment.
    >Not using an item designed to get used in fear of it getting used.
Do you not take pride in your gear? Your rifle? Do you take so much pride in your gear that you actually own several plate carriers and ARs, but run around in pyjamas knife killing everyone incase the AR/Plate carrier become mucky?

Can't say I'd wear it skirmishing -based on the perceived beliefs of the wearer- but god damn, I'll defend his right to wear it if he wants. As did all those who died on both sides.
This, to me, comes down to a very simple rule:
He has the right to free speech (which I think we can agree this is) and you DO NOT have the right to not be offended.

Although I'm not arguing the point that dressing up as the SS is a good idea, it's not. End of.

Any millitary uniform has also been used to kill many people the world over. If we are going to take such a moral high ground to say SS is bad taste should we also stop wearing multi glam or dpm for fear of cultural sensitivities?

    I own a TM one.
Allow me to go off on one here:

It's big. Really big. Pistol's quite large too (ba-dum-tiss). Only realy way to holster it is with a Viper belt mounted adjustable holster. it's as big as a desert eagle. If you have small hands, forget it. If you want a pistol that is 'fast' forget it. If you want to be able to transition to it quickly, forget it. (Admittedly I do alright with mine, but I've used it almost every skirmish for the last 3 and a half years, often as a primary.) If you have the suppressor attached whilst it's in the holster (and you'll want to) your draw length is from grabbing the pistol at your hip, the pistol isn't free and usable until you have lifted the pistol grip up to your armpit.
Don't think you can get around this with a leg holster, then you'll never be able to kneel down again.

There are a lot of negatives with this pistol. BUT.
    Jesus christ.

If you want a pistol that you can rely on, buy one. and only one. You will only ever need one. This has to be the most robust anything ever. Mine had taken a beating over the years. Then I dropped it. Fell out of my holster. Lost. Gone. My favourite RIF lost. not to mention it was £200 worth of pistol. This happened in November 2012.
Every game I played I looked around for it.
Then. Mid August. Peeking out from under some leaves.
    NO.
    FREAKING.
    WAY.
    9 bastard months.
The coldest winter for years, plus all the usual yorkshire countryside weather. Plus the heat from summer.
My MK23 had been out in it all. I would guess temperatures ranged from -5 to about 20 degrees over those months.

I picked it up. looked over it and pulled the trigger. 'thumf'. sheeeiiiiiiit It still worked. Hadn't let out ANY guess.
Aimed at a target 'thumf' again, straight as a die.
better check it over before I do any damage to it.
Popped the mag out, took out the takedown lever and slid the slide off.
    yup, frame looks fine.
    Check the upper.
    a slug,
    A mother fucking slug.
    right in the mechanism.
and it wouldn't let me down.

The pistol is awesome. It outranges most peoples AEGs all day erryday.
It cannot be heard outside of 10m and is impossible to locate the exact direction of the shooting within hearing range.
It's had more kills on its own that the entire rest of my arsenal, I'm convinced of it.
Some days I'll take out £800 worth up Laylaxed up VSR and do better with the MK23.

If I'm unsure about what to take to a game, I know I'll still have a good time if the MK23 is coming with me.

oh, and just for balance, I DO also have the ASG one (same as KJ etcetcetc) and it's wank. Just utter crap.
Yeah, I know what other people say about theirs, so maybe that shows how highly I hold this pistol. (and how terrified other players at my site are of it)

and to clear up some misinformation in this thread so far:
the TM MK23 and mags DO take Greengas, it will also take duster, 134a, 144a, red gas AND Guarder Black gas. I would imagine it handles propane fine, but I am NEVER putting that stink through my lovely pistol.

Special forces don't use it 'a lot' it is too big and too heavy for a sidearm.

and to agree with some other sentiments from the thread:
If you use one, you cannot be cooler.
    They are stupid accurate.
They are THE BEST sniper sidearm
They are THE BEST woodland sidearm, regardless of playstyle
They are (playstyle/game dependednt) one of the best CQB sidearms.
