JuggyUK reacted to gavinkempsell in Looking to buy a SCAR-H
Depends on your budget, I love my plastic cybergun two tone L but have a metal cybergun L I like to use too but it's heavier, my go to now is a WE scar-H GBBR.
I've had no issues with any of them but they'd not used very often.

I have a Cybergun/VFC AEG Scar-H. It's a nice gun with good externals but the mags are expensive to get a hold of (about £15-£20 per mid-cap) from Asian retailers. I haven't worked on it internally yet but i've been told that VFC internals on AEGs are pretty shit. IIRC it has a standard V2 gearbox meaning upgrades are plentiful and cheap. The only parts that aren't standard are the hop unit and nozzle (length is like 35mm or something) but Maxx make a CNC rotary hop unit for Scars that will fit the H apparently.
You'll struggle to find one new at a reasonable price due to trademarks and availability - The only retailer I know of with them in stock has them priced at 400 euro. I got lucky on the forums here and snagged it for about £100 plus £20 for a replacement part that was missing.
Double Bell make a Scar-H which has no trademarks making it cheaper than other AEG Scar-H models but the magazines are still pushing the £15-£20 price range area but with the RIF being £200-£250 it's still a significant investment. I can't comment on the quality of the internals having not owned or worked on one.
Personally, i'd suggest looking for a second hand one as you may be able to get a rifle + mags but from what i've seen they rarely come up for sale. Even when they do come up, unless you get really lucky, they're great examples that have been cared for, upgraded and the owners demand a good price for them.
If there's anyone super knowledgeable about AEG Scars reading this, i'd love to pick your brains over some stuff. Please PM me.

If you want recoil, if you want lock on empty function, if you want a gun you just pick up and use get a TM and buy new. If you don't care about those functions and like to work on your guns get anything else other than an Ares if the still make an H.

70% of the cost of the gun and the MOSFET should be realistic then. The mags might carry 70% too but I wouldn't be surprised if offers come in bartering over them in particular.

This is a great help, thank you.
I'm going to look around for a sling plate that is a more accurate fit, hopefully I can find one.

Looks like a fairly standard receiver extension from this disassembly video:
You will need a Buffer tube and sling plate. The buffer tube, obviously, to mount your stock. The sling plate to cover the big hole that the wires are sticking out of.
If you can find Specna Edge denoted spares - great, should be a drop-in fit.
Other brands will likely fit fine, but airsoft 'tolerances' being as they are (i.e lacking thereof), you might find yourself either filing the inside of the buffer tube if too tight on the extension anti-rotation fins, or shimming with bits of a coke can if too loose. I have experienced both.

yeah higher C is always better, I'd say most "airsoft sized" batteries don't actually have enough C (regardless of their marketing C) and will drop voltage as much as half during the initial surge current, so don't trust the C rating on the battery label, the capacity in mAh is probably a better indication of whether it can provide high actual C, so always get the highest mAh you can practically fit
The Overlander VSRmini looks fine to me, it is a smart charger so it should do more than good enough job, any charger with a screen and has a few buttons for navigating menus and adjust settings is a smart charger, needless to say smart is almost always better than dumb

JuggyUK reacted to Sewdhull in Battery Question
Yes it has IR function. Chargers haven't got better in a long time, so there's lots of good ones out there. Cabling is often an issue but if all your batteries have the same plug it won't matter. XT60 for the win.
If you test the battery when new, fully charged, then test occasionally will see the battery decline over time.
Useful for comparing know good batteries to any new ones you get.

Maybe an eotech clone or T1 type.
I don't think you need to spend a lot really cause they all do a similar job on an aeg. Gbbr need a better quality to stand a bit of recoil. I've only got cheapish rds and holosights from off the forum and once they are adjusted with the help of a boresighter or adjusted to where your shots are hitting then they should be fine.
Take a look at the classifieds🙂

Thanks, I am using 11.1v already so should be good.
I looked at those but they may be a bit thick for the Double Eagles. I'll purchase 1 and check but I know for sure the 1000mAh will fit and should last 3 or 4 30 minute sessions the way we play.

JuggyUK reacted to Lozart in Need advice - How to fit a bigger battery
Short of changing to a compact solid stock I think you'll be out of luck. I'm assuming you bought the battery that is one single block rather than three separate cells?
Could you try and return it for one that will actually fit?

JuggyUK got a reaction from gavinkempsell in Importing Airsoft gun (IF) into UK
Received my order, box is quite damaged but the items inside are OK. Either customs treated the parcel very badly or Gunfire used insufficient packaging. I cannot be sure if the gun box was in another box

I'd assume Customs went in ham-fisted hoping that this time they'd be busting the Lord of War, rather than finding more assault-style-toys.
Great news that the contents were fine anyway.

I guess I got lucky, package cleared customs examination late last night and is on its way to me. Delivery today or most probably tomorrow.

Apologies for the thread revival, thought it best not to open a new one.
Does anyone know how long UK Customs take to check a RIF import?
I ordered a Specna Arms from Gunfire in Poland which arrived in the UK last week. At first it was checked and released by a Government agency, I was charged import fees, so far so good. Then it went in to the warehouse and hasn't moved since.
I contacted UPS to be told it is being held for a customs examination.
Does anyone know how long these examinations usually take?

Did you just keep rolling around in mud and bushes for all 7 months till you eventually became one with nature, a walking bush Wookiee?
