The 'What have you just bought' Thread
TheFull9 replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Can't remember if I posted this here recently, but anyway, the BCM is best as either just a hand-stop using a c-clamp or for the thumb break method. Something that short and fat is gonna suck for most people if you try and broomhandle it as per top right shown above. As a general rule, the shorter/smaller/fatter a thing is on your 6 o/clock rail the less hand you'll probably want to actually have on it. Longer/thinner = more of the grip surface area. The exception of course is a tac-sac. -

You can get the US issued parkas on eBay UK, they need a bit of tailoring to be vaguely practical for anything other than their original purposes though. If you don't mind importing there's a fair few brands that make shirts and combat shirts in the pattern now. -

Given the big ol' difference between quality ballistic rated goggles and the same goggles but with a fan, I think there's a huge need for simple ready-made kits (or at least the plans/links grouped together online) based on some common and popular goggle types in order for people do to these mods themselves.

Glad to see someone's out there enforcing ukara loicenses. The epitome of a truly great profession.

Given the trend for carry handles that's floating around atm it's something I've put some thinking time in to and it is the case that if you're not mounting a light/laser or only a light and no laser then you really don't need a freefloat handguard or indeed even a non-freefloat with pic, keymod or M-LOK. Especially with a high optics mount where the fixed front iron isn't getting in the way; though you do have 2 sets of irons now ofc lol. Freefloat is always nice on a firearm for shooting smaller things at farther distances but still not the end of the world and obviously makes no difference in airsoft.. maybe slightly to accuracy if you absolutely crank in to a wall/barricade but not to precision. Would have to say that sort of config is pretty close to being about as practical and efficient as I'd ever want for airsoft indoors while still looking like something that would actually work in any sense of 'reasonable' as a firearm.

Given the recent move of production of some optics to China by Sig and the comparatively high price of that for a 'replica' (not to mention that they hide all the trades in the listing pics) there's no denying it's a good possibility at least. Sig will do extra QC if this was the case and you'll have a higher lemon chance going straight to China, but interesting. -

In a day this forum has added pedo anime and the equivalent of pedophilia in RIF form as one giant ad that is the background for every single page.. -

I've tried BAD levers and equivalents on a few NGRS and GBB rifles over the years, came to the conclusion there's only 2 times to use them: 1. On a standard AEG where it does nothing it's literally just a little aesthetic piece 2. If you have a gun that's exactly real AR dimensions and the bolt catch/release does work (GBB, GBLS etc) However every airsoft gun I've tried either lacks the power in the system to actually push the paddle out when the mag is empty due to the extra leverage caused by the mass of the extension, or (TM recoils for example) are wider than a real AR so the end of the lever you'd actuate with your trigger finger (if right handed) hits the lower receiver and prevents the bolt lock actually engaging. I've read that if you bend a BAD lever it can work on TMs, though I haven't tried myself. I have a couple of LM4s with 2 brands of lever and they took extensive mill work to the bolt catch and rear face of lever to even fit in the first place and clear the upper, then if the gun was tilted left at all the extra weight would pull the paddle out and lock the bolt back when it wasn't supposed to, which meant adding more spring pressure to keep the paddle in the normal firing position. Next the paddles were smaller/differently shaped vs RS, so we used some quik steel and a set screw, then finally the issue of the power lacking in the system still crops up to an extent. If you follow the path, when you're out of BBs the main spring in the mag pushes up on the lever in the back of the mag that then pushes up on the bolt catch extension in the mag well, which is trying to drawbridge the external paddle away from the upper except those few grams that the BAD lever weighs are magnified by various points of leverage and function can end up being iffy. I don't know about the GHK and TM GBB ARs, but if they have specific levers that have been designed such that their dimensions and weight allow them to fully function on those *specific* models of airsoft guns, that's the accessory you're going to want. -
Just be as historically accurate as you personally want to be and let other people do the same. Don't be a russian-gear-forum obsessive crazy person, there's already too many of those. Years ago I gave some kid an actual heart attack by just commenting how I liked useful things like some areas of pic rail on certain parts of an AK.

Did they do just the 2 embroidered ones? Surprised they didn't have a higher minimum tbh that's very rare. -
I get it, but objectively, publicly displaying a RIF is illegal and there are many instances of people getting seen like that and the police showing up not too long after. The vast majority of the time it's not actually ARU the normal ones just come knocking and ask to check the situation, but obviously there's the possibility. I know how it is on the patch and if you know all your neighbors fair enough, but it only takes one karen to make a mountain out of a mole hill ya know? Just something to be aware of is all, 99% of folks online will query it if they see pics of airsoft out on the street like that.

Playairsoft – a Crowd-sourced List of UK Airsoft Sites
TheFull9 replied to shadowfacex's topic in General Discussion
Very much a badly needed thing after 'airsoft sitemap' decided to do PDF downloads and posters that'll be all be fairly useless within about 12 months. Airbana used to be extremely good and incredibly handy but obviously whoever was running it got bored/left airsoft and it's now a lot less useful. If you can spread the word enough to get some advertisers in order to bring in a little cash such that someone will keep it updated in perpetuity (be it yourself or someone you might hand it to if you leave the game) that'd really be a winner. I've seen a few come and go over the years, the current airsoft ranch one seems lacking in some details too. -
Our mil used/issued practice grenades. Be bloody careful they weigh a ton and there's a decent little blast out the base when using the issued fuzes.

Long as there is something cheap out there vs paying a disproportionate price per ml for dubious claims, that's the main thing. I'd obviously never remove F&L from work so I should know these things but alas. -

I've honestly never looked up what firearm specific oils cost commercially, but if I were to guess I'd not be entirely surprised if they've got an unnecessary markup. Fully understand the line of thought behind the above, but a lot of automotive stuff works fine I know for a fact, end of the day, steel is just a common metal and any mineral or synthetic lubricant within sensible limits will work. If you'd use it on a hinge or somewhere on a bike or car and if you've got any mechanical experience with anything at all, you can probably pick out something real cheap from a car parts or DIY shop that'll come in a can big enough to last the rest of your life as far as maintaining anything suitable in airsoft and will cost maybe £10 tops. -
Work with someone and figure out how to 3d print most of it and put together a list of the TAG shell/co2 cart adapter/plumbing bits folks would need to finish the launcher and sell that plan set, or just parts packages, or even complete ones. Assuming you're not working towards this already. TAG ammo is mega £$, shells are fragile and even more £$ and the TAG GP-25 is big, bulky, big £$ and very heavy from what I've heard. Something that's small, light, a fair bit cheaper and makes it so that the only real recurring cost is the TAG ammo and the cheap co2 bulbs would be a real nice option.

Even 200 would make for a crowded game in my estimation (take that for whatever you deem it to be worth). Having no idea what the rental for the location and other costs are I couldn't possibly comment on whether this all makes sense, but not for me. At 100-150 it'd be something I'd strongly consider, but certainly not 400. Never attended the NAE/F for the same sort of reasons. They did one at disused theme park years ago which did look good, don't think it had nearly as many people in attendance (iirc) and I'd reckon the usable safe area would've been a fair bit bigger. Wish I'd done it tbh. Credit for securing a really awesome site to play, probably very hard to do.

Literally just the other day I was deeply in thought on how to do a nice replication of their brown 'Mk18' in airsoft form and found that same grip after a fair bit of digging. Real nice choices, was this the base gun? https://www.evike.com/products/27706/
