  1. The No4's design/shape must be too old to have any sort of patent apply and afaik nobody has anything like trademark license holding over the markings that the Royal small arms factories applied to Lee-Enfield type rifles. Unless there's some aspect to the way the airsoft gun operates that's patented I can't really see what they mean there, unless Redwolf setup some shenanigans when they did theirs maybe? Be interested to know what they meant specifically.
  2. It's not 'ambi' per se you can just actuate the bolt catch and release much faster with your trigger finger, look up the BAD lever. I don't know about you but I'm never in a situation where I absolutely need to do a mag change on my support side in a bb battle, that and my gear isn't optimised for that anyway, but I enjoy fast reloads just for the audible and tactile aspects of doing so. I'd like to change a lot of other small parts like the mag catch, receiver pins, forward assist etc for aftermarket but the aftermarket for this platform is minuscule. I feel like I didn't clearly enough explain it's very much not finished, haha.
  3. Built this absolutely years ago but was worried @Adolf Hamster might not have seen it
  4. Services vs a product. Had a guy I trust sort out some crappy machine work/cerakote/aftermarket parts to get this horrible beast nearly over the finish line.
  5. I mean it's cool and practical to roll the sleeves either to the elbow or at least partially when it's hot vs cinching them closed around the wrist, way more air flow. The look of not-collapsed-on-the-floor is the one I'd recommend though. It just always sticks in my head that almost bob on 2 years ago from today I was at a small site with temperatures much like they are now (peaking over 30) and 2 guys turned up in all black gear with PCs, then I'm pretty sure they drank either nothing or coffee/energy drinks and both feinted in the safe zone shortly before lunch. I was there in a super thin MC combat shirt (i.e. light colours) with a small chest rig and thin coverings all over much to protect myself from the sun, still sweating lots but drinking loads of water, the occasional bite of a cereal bar, felt warm but fine. Not saying this is anyone here but it was an eye opener to how unaware folks sometimes is when it comes to being out in climates they're not usually in.
  6. Looks pretty well adjusted, which is a rarity. Get a standard non-FR issued UBACS if it's still warm when your local re-opens though or you'll die of dehydration ?
  7. NiMh still exists?
  8. Mmmmhm. Whether he's gonna offer super-mixed camo at regular prices I dunno cause it'd be a lot more effort and inefficient with materials to make these vs one pattern/colour the usual way, but I'll chat to him soon.
  9. Just a whole lotta wacky 90s fun time.
  10. ? reading that in his voice. Been stuck on camp basically. Legally I've always been allowed to travel between home and the block but my dad's very old and been super ill (to put it lightly) until not too long ago so I sat in the block losing my mind gradually until the numbers of cases dropped right back down. Yeah I got sick of having a giant stack of specific kydex holsters and never having the right gun/light/colour combo I wanted. They were all very nice and gucci but at the time I bought them there weren't any companies who built kydex around the specific models of airsoft guns (especially Glocks) so fitment often wasn't *quite* right. Having a generic CB coloured one for no-light mounting that works with pretty much all outdoor loadouts and a grey lighted one for anything indoors takes up a ton less space. I've not liked BH as a company for many years, went off SERPAs long ago, but I think they've turned things around a little. My expectations quality wise were very low but they're fairly solid as it turns out. Wouldn't take one to war because the mech looks like it'll jam with sand/mud/stones same as SERPAs do but for bb wars where it's fun to own a range of different models (and financially viable to do so) they sure fit the bill, even better than the offerings from SureFire and S&S actually.
  11. Came home the other day for the first time in about 10 weeks, which has been nice. Arrivals from the past 6 months:
  12. By 'the SA80' do you mean the family of firearms that includes the L85? In work I call 'em guns, gats, bangsticks, shooters and a million and one other things since saying RIFLE ad nauseum when you're literally surrounded by the things gets super boring tbh.
  13. Probably varies from camp to camp let alone between services, but on a basic level the stuff you get issued on your gun has to stay on there, but you can move things around to wherever best fits. The SUSAT can be slid back and forward on its' rail in to 3 different positions and from what I've seen usually people get to pick wherever fits them best. The Elcan LDS obviously goes on pic rail so has many possible mounting spots. As mentioned the grip-pod that is issued along with the DD pic handguard can be moved wherever is comfortable. I'd prefer mine further out for example but with osprey on and lying prone I can't reach the thing unless it's pretty close in. I've seen infantry guys with their own magpul AFGs and RVGs amongst other picatinny attachments. Personally I have an aftermarket sling that's just made to look similar enough to the issued green one that people don't question it. If you look up recent pictures of army guys on deployment (i.e. within the last 3 years) you'll see lots of examples of small variances in configuring the A2 and A3.
  14. In brit service at least, there is no institutionally correct with the grip-pod, afaik. I'll admit I've not dug through every single pam and AESP but all I know after a couple of deployments running detached armouries and seeing hundreds and hundreds of rifles from all 3 services pass through I've seen those things in every single possible 6 o/clock pic spot and both ways around. Never been instructed on a 'correct' way, only ever been told to attach it wherever works best for the individual, never seen them issued with any rail attachments (it might happen, but it isn't the norm). The only place I've seen that was objectively bad was at the very rear with the button facing backwards such that the button was entirely blocked by the L85 trigger guard and the legs could not be deployed. I don't know if GPSI or the US mil have prescribed ways to mount the things, but if we do it most definitely isn't enforced. Usually the button's at the back and that's how I've always set mine, but plenty of people do deploy and use them the other way tbh.
  15. Literally the racks you get at the start when you go to play a gun course trial in modern warfare.
  16. I bought them yeah. Again they're going back home so.. something to look forward to I suppose. Won the auctions on the Opfor DPM set too.
  17. Can receive post to work, it's a decent system all things considered. However, even though I'm 99% sure they're not x-raying parcels it's not the best idea to have RIFs go in to the post room in case a bit of outer packaging maybe gets torn in transit or whatever. Also I have none of my gear collection/airsoft stuff here in my little sardine can far-smaller-than-a-studio-flat room, so it'd just have to sit here in my way for months until this is all done and I somehow manage to get tested and cleared so I can see my family again.
  18. Ordered an M16A1 grip, old-stock PTS rear MBUS (FG), TM M45A1 + 2 x mags from Fire-Support since they had the best price on the pistol by a decent margin. Normally wouldn't post in here without pics but I'm on base and can't go home until this all blows over (whenever the fuck that is) so yeah. Just gotta shop online and hope I get hands on my stuff in a couple of months. Which tbh I have done many times before on work 'trips' but when it's only an hour drive away there's a bit of a frustration factor I'll admit.
  19. Yeah he guy making them is pretty smart on the shipping front, they cost the exact same posted anywhere in the world. I'll not hawk my wares further in here but just PM me if you're interested, they're rather nicely made by a guy who actually designs gear for Eagle Industries. So I created and admin the group for spiritus systems and all of their kit is in crazy high demand. Most of what they make goes directly to mil and police then what goes up on their site for commercial sale all gets snapped up rapidly. As a result this one guy got super salty and put up a whole dedicated post in the group just to say how he'd been waiting ages for a PC to come in stock, he'd "finally" gotten "permission" from his wife to buy it but he believed all the stock had been bought up by 'fukin airsofters'. The greatest irony being he used to be an airsofter until very recently with airsoft posts visible on his account, but had since joined the US army, he was far from anything special though, was only a couple of weeks out of basic training. There were 150-odd comments under the post ripping in to him fuckin savagely and bear in mind this is a mostly US group full of largely mil/le/firearm guys with only a few airsofters.
  20. Had a whole batch of these made in the states to sell to people whose balls reside in a separate place to the rest of their body (also because some guy got really angry at airsofters in a FB group I admin).
  21. That barrel is so U/S ? great looking gun.
  22. If the clone kit comes out good just hang on to it, the basic fabric Crye etc use isn't much different (same as some of the TMC stuff actually) so if the stitching holds you don't need anything better for airsoft. If you want those cool-guy points and find some used for a good deal that's when it might make more sense if you're not on a huge budget (speaking generally). I am personally of the opinion that the softshell stuff is a huge asset if you're out for a period in inclement weather but it's not like wet legs are gonna kill anyone in a 10-to-4 sunday skirmish.
  23. Completely different type of materials end of the day, if you had some TMC All Weather clones also made from softshell fabric that would be the relevant comparison. Personally I have a few All Weather/PCU/other softshell trousers for any sort of outdoor stuff through the colder and wetter part of the year, regular options for everything else.
  24. That's Mother Airsoft (Nature's annoying great-niece twice removed) testing your resolve to not just yeet stupid shit at a bloody wall.
