This probably doesn't exist, just a very niche build idea I've got, but I thought I'd ask around in case. The goal is essentially this: https://www.redwolfairsoft.com/tokyo-marui-m733-commando-airsoft-aeg-rifle.html Except with decent modern plastic and not-1990s internals. Anyone seen such a gun? Far as I know the original TM AR AEGs all inevitably go loose and floppy where the barrel meets the upper and where the buffer tube meets the upper and apparently in not all that long of a time span either; their old plastic on rifles is of course notorious for creak and just generally wearing down (even my NGRS SCAR-L stock was terrible and that may be old now but it's a lot newer than the 733). I'd take a blank lower/no trades, can modify any other type of AR to change the forend setup and stock etc, just need the receivers to be fairly close to real Colt A2, not the typical modern Specna/DE/G&G fictional CoD-looking malarkey.

I'd be interested in a further explanation of why you didn't put them in your checked/hold bag? I'm not a frequent flyer or anything, probably only done about 20 return trips in my adult life, but I've brought alllll sorts back from the US in my hold bag, zero issue or fuss. Little bottle openers that look like rounds, bladed tools, all sorts of little gun/tactical paraphernalia that's obviously legal in both countries and legal to put on the plane, just with a high potential of raising eyebrows at airports. But on the flip side I've forgotten to empty my water bottle that was in my carry-on backpack or take out a tablet (electronic) a couple of times over the years and been swiftly pulled aside and had to go back around to the start of the queue going through security.

Airsoft newbie advice on Ares Amoeba AM-008 setup HELP
TheFull9 replied to Krusty's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
A few years? I mean it depends how often you play and how much you shoot (plus gun care, mags, bb quality etc etc), and maybe you'll get lucky, but if you play fairly often then the odds aren't good I'm afraid. In fact if you've only just got the gun, I'd try and return it. -
They'll be super stoked to have released this just in time for the general online firearms community to have turned massively against the 320 for the safety issues and bad design (and the XM7 has been getting lots of bad press/feedback in trials). Fortunately from an airsoft business perspective, even the majority of American platers either won't know or care, let alone the rest of the world. Hate to say it, but I don't know why this mythical unicorn TM BHP keeps coming up, lol. Has there ever been even a hint from the company that they'd consider doing one? I don't see everything, but if so I definitely missed that, and if there hasn't been a hint then personally I'd bet against that ever happening. VFC on the other hand? Maybe, they're not perfect on pistols in terms of track record (not as good as the gas rifles it seems) but I've heard a fair bit of good stuff and I would actually take the magic pixie dust hit for a more realistic metal gun with a Hi-Power. Weirdly, I'd actually like the new, current FN production model because the real ones had the nicest/highest quality feelings I've ever gotten from a pistol, but they may have cherry picked some primo examples for display tbf.

Need Some Advice – Struggling to Maintain My MWS Setup
TheFull9 replied to Ulmocuk's topic in General Discussion
Yeah between every game you'd have to used a rod to pop out the bb in the hop. I'm not an MWS expert so maybe this is a proven thing, in that case that's fine. But even if you do always load with the bolt locked back rather than just inserting a mag, then once the carrier goes forward and puts the first 'round in the chamber', the nozzle is then necessarily sat on top of the rest of the bb stack for all of the the rest of the time. So is the issue only caused by the max pressure from a mag 100% full of bbs? And the problem is negated as soon as one bb is removed from the mag? -
Haven't actually changed the ol' Krytac LVOA-S very much since this pic 5 years ago. Has a genuinely bonkers handguard on it but I put the details on my own site if anyone's really interested. Man those Hexmags were a hype thing for about 2 minutes but were absolutely awful lol..

I think the word is eclectic. Which is good, all for it.

Trouble shouldering rifle with Osprey MkIV
TheFull9 replied to Holly Wallace's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
The issue isn't you, the Osprey is just wank, literally nothing you can do to the vest, your gun or your stance to change that. I've probably fired a good few hundred rounds while wearing the Mk4 and it was always a contortion act of combative awkwardness. When it's stuffed with real armour it'll cover you well against artillery shrapnel and IED frag, which you care about in the relevant circumstances, problem is of course they aren't airsoft, and there's a reason cool SF blokes who jump out of helos in to room-clearing combat where every bit of speed and mobility count all wear American/American-influenced trimmed down plate carriers vs bulky mass issued armour. My guess with the grey pad is that it's only intended to work in the prone, not sure why exactly, presumably just the result of troop trials, but it's simply far higher than you'd ever want to place the butt of your rifle when in any other shooting position. There's a million and 1 different options for rigs, if we were all truly honest we'd say the most efficient of which is just a hi-cap in a pocket, but then all men would lose our form of fashion shopping and dressing up as a hobby. End of the day, if you're a small person, micro chest rigs and small belts are the best thing to go for; there are some specifically smaller plate carriers but they're not as common out in the market. -
Need Some Advice – Struggling to Maintain My MWS Setup
TheFull9 replied to Ulmocuk's topic in General Discussion
Just gonna steal one of Negative Airsoft's posts: But no, that's the pure facetious answer. I think GBBRs have had a such a huge spike in popularity the past few years because (especially with MWS) they reached a point where they're reliable and effective enough for regular use, certainly if you have regular access to your collection and time/money/energy to do that bit more maint than an AEG. It's not a ton of maint (unless you get unlucky) but the fact is it is just more than an AEG overall. You can still get unlucky with an AEG, but it's slim odds with a good one realistically. Personally I only have access to my own RIFs about 10% of the time, so all the mags for my few gas guns are stored with maintenance gas and often sealed in bags. Occasionally use the pistols but don't touch the rifles frankly; plink toys at this point given the logistical issues I have and the rarity of getting to games. AEGs just work for me given the limitations I have to contend with and I think they make more sense for people who want to play but only just about have the time and money to do that part, not to milsim being an armourer as well as a special army soldier (again, sarcasm, relax gassy people). I think the easiest overall solution is get something like the TM G36C+ or SG553+ and just never worry about it. Plenty of other options of course and those examples are a smidge behind the curve in power, but for myself I'd take that in exchange for the high probability of just being able to use them, chuck them back in storage and never think about them until they're back in my hands again on the field. -
Considering Magpul has been making them for probably 15 years by now (rough guess), the UBR stock is like hen's teeth in airsoft comparatively. There's a million guns with Geissele Mk16s in DDC though, so it's a good balance in a way.

The one I've used is linked. -
Not me, the wizard @Anonymoose again. He worked some of his spellcraft yesterday, started by trimming down the side locating tabs on 2 different AR AEG outer barrels that weren't quite compatible with the 2 upper receivers in question (noq sit in beautifully), then also fixed some of china's mistakes and drilled some new holes in a QD attachment lever for a PTS Unity Aimpoint micro mount. The big job was converting this real Geissele bolt catch to fit on to an AEG lower (and obviously not protrude inside so there's room for the gearbox). There were MANY steps to this, far more than I've shown, and he also made a custom little piece to sit inside and secure the lever, since a real one would have its' internal segment and a bolt carrier holding it in place.

They do on all the replicas that I have which feature one, though personally that's one feature I don't care about actually working; but hey if the objective/want is more along the replication lines than just shooting bbs at 40m I do get it. The only tricky thing with the chinese optics is figuring out which actual OEM you're buying from, as on the one hand there's clearly only 1-2 places physically making a given item in most cases, but the sellers are allllll over the place with naming and descriptions (making it seem like there's 50 factories churning out the same thing), not to mention pricing. This is the example I just bought, only just came in the other day so hasn't been used, but it passes the initial inspection. https://www.specprecision.com/rifle-scope/ta31-d-4x32-m4-redgreen-chevron-reticle-riflescope.html#/new_ta31_tan-red_chevron_rticle_ta51_flattop_mount At the time of writing I only found one proper replica still up on AliEx, which is worth considering as the site policies are surprisingly pretty tough on sellers. I don't buy much on there, only some of my optics, but in my limited experience so far with something turning up damaged, you'll likely be quite well covered if there's a problem. Don't know if the same applies with the direct sale sites (haven't tested it). https://vi.aliexpress.com/item/1005008458309232.html?pdp_npi=4%40dis!GBP!£138.12!£103.59!!!177.99!133.49!%40211b613917449668290041363e5270!12000045222293014!sh!UK!0!X&spm=a2g0o.store_pc_allItems_or_groupList.new_all_items_2007593437253.1005008458309232&gatewayAdapt=glo2vnm -

Click below to open the boxes. Mostly from WGCShop, who luckily had exactly what I'd been looking for on the tan T-2 and 20rnd PMAGs. I've settled on 4x ACOGs as my standard for pretty much all gats I'll use outside, but presumably Trijicon deployed their lawyers recently or something along those lines, because almost all the good replicas were gone from AliEx. Luckily many of the Ali stores just have their own websites under the same names with almost identical selections and pricing, so the scope is direct from SpecPrecision and the markings are *chef's kiss* (including the embossing on the right side). -
From the little bit I've picked up about AEG internals over the years, I'd venture to perhaps say that these guns are right about on the edge of how far most people should probably go along that ever-flattening curve. With the caveat that some people are all about tweaking their gun internals to the absolute max and more power to them; I do the same thing but with kit. The parts lists on the example I checked out are similar to what Negative Airsoft Luke tends to do, and the fact they're putting them in CYMAs narrows the gap even further. Nothing wrong with that it's seemingly a very good formula as long as the person/s doing the work actually understand the nuances of our cheapy toy gats (which are bloody expensive). I've had many guns worked on by Luke now and there's no denying that they spoil you, it can be hard to go back to stock once you've tasted that sweet trigger response. Won't make a ton of difference in the woods vs a good quality stock gun that's not absolutely battered and with quality bbs, clean barrel and a properly set hop-up, but the end result sounds super nice.

I've never personally seen a positive review of any of these events, not denying some might exist but I've only come across scathingly negative reports. I'm honestly shocked to the point of comedy that they're still going ? I feel like they're only saved by the fact that there's very, very little else in terms of options for big weekend games that aren't leet-hardcore muh-imershuns MiLsiM which will entice people to go to the expense and effort of significant travel; especially given the rare and unusual sites they somehow (??) manage to obtain usage of. I don't run sites, zero experience in that area, but the impression I get is that people who have done it for years are constantly tweaking their layouts and games to make best use of the physical area available. They usually start off with at least minor issues, often major ones, but if they refine the site over time they've got a chance of keeping a place going long term. Hence, I would personally have pretty much no expectations of an unusually large game running even close to smoothly at any location that's never been used for airsoft before. That's no dig at all at people who go along to such things, I also really want to play at disused theme parks, prisons, forts etc, way more appealing than yet another patch of flat woodland with some plastic sheet stapled to pallets. Just an issue with this type of game organisation that I can't really foresee being overcome.
-
I honestly thought the physical business would have gone by now, pretty shocked it's even still clinging on at all being that far in to London. First gun I bought for myself was from there in 06, took the train one evening after work when they had a late opening. Box thoroughly wrapped up in opaque plastic bags and nobody cared, but felt very paranoid on that trip home. Of course just my luck there had been some sort of incident at the station where I got off so a few of the fuzz floating around, to just to make teenage me extra tense.
-
When I went a couple of months back the bloke running the evening told me something like 16-18 cap, but if they do allow 30.. can't imagine it'd play very well, very choked up and over-contested. Maybe they have some sort of player-rotation/tag-in type modes setup to alleviate it though, not sure. The positive aspects for me were close location, great parking, runs most days including weekday evenings and entirely indoor so during proper winter it was just a lot less effort to play compared to packing all the layers etc for a woodland game. I'd say HC2 is better for CQB play (though I've not been in many years), just based on the multiple lanes despite the base square footage probably being similar. But I'd say P13 is worth a go one time at the least if you're around those parts and want close up pew-ing.
-
Not sure about others, but what I personally see is that the smaller the indoor site the higher number of PPPs (Proton Pack Players) you'll get. Precinct 13 is pretty tiny, when I went they said they limit to about 16 max and even that is too much and it gets stalemate'y. Which I could fully believe because there's only a single lane you can move down, you can't get through between the shops in the backs, only via the main concourse. They've put in about as many wooden structures as they can which makes it viable and overall not bad with small enough numbers but I'm not sure I'd go on a Friday night/weekend.

Anyone got their hands on the new PTS x Griffin AEG?
TheFull9 replied to A1F4B's topic in Latest News
Far as I know PTS don't own any factory space. The original Masadas were Ares, probably the PDRs, possibly even the original FPGs though that one's chinese whispers. Various AEGs and GBBRs by KWA over the year, other AEGs by CYMA more recently.. list goes on. No idea about the various plastic accessories or handguards etc etc, they might be from entirely nameless factories that airsofters have never heard of. Most brand names we see down the end of the road at the actual retailers do this to at least some extent, if not entirely in some cases. -
I really thought there'd be an airsoft HK433 by now.
-
Really? Whatever made you think a cool niche weapon would beat out yet another M4 with a shit stock as the next hot thing?
-
Could it be too early in production for an airsoft manufacturer to take an interest in doing a replica?
Are there any films or video games with the gun past a prototype? -
@Galvatron it's been around for quite a few years and iirc was the first assault rifle you got in MW2019 inc WarZone, not sure which version was exactly featured but it looks as similar to current production real ones as any CoD fictional rifle does that's based on a real gun.
