Disregard everything I broke it

I'd be interested in a further explanation of why you didn't put them in your checked/hold bag?
I'm also interested in this, but it may be that @Asomodai's plane ticket was of the "Economy Lite" variety that doesn't allow for checked hold luggage. (Tangent: I blame COVID for these types of fares seemingly now being so widespread.)
In any case, thanks for sharing OP. Airport security is one of those great
anxietiesmysteries one thinks about a lot once one has been pulled aside and interrogated for the first time (not a fan of transiting Hong Kong now for this very reason), so putting your experience down on the record for others to ingest is very much appreciated. -

the only thing i can think is that at your initial 2 steps of precocking
My bad, I've actually set SEMI to have just 1 (not 2) step of Active Braking. Precocking (I think) tries to get the spring to stop at the rearmost position ready for the next shot but I have not turned that on in any way for either SEMI or AUTO. At the moment the gun is set up thusly:
SEMIActive Braking - Level 1
Precocking - Off
ROF Reduction - None
AUTO
Active Braking - Off
Precocking - Off
ROF Reduction - Level 5
I've just tested adding some ROF reduction to SEMI, just in case that was the common denominator, but obviously that has had no effect on FPS in that mode. I've shot off an email to Perun in case they have any insight into this weird problem, but I'd still like to know what the underlying issue is (even though thanks to the Perun it's no longer an issue).

Hello gang,
Solink 35k motor arrived yesterday, which I immediately slotted into my M906C. A superlative improvement over the stock motor - the gun is now very snappy, very responsive, a semi-auto spamming machine. So me happy.
However, I have a slight conundrum now.
On semi, FPS hovered around 265 on 0.25g.
On auto, FPS hovered around 300 on 0.25g.
(All this with no precocking or active braking - the only setting I've touched is the Perun's ROF reduction, maxed out)
Huh.
Adding 2 steps of active brake on Semi mode via the Perun, has now brought the semi FPS up to 300, same as auto. I am at a loss as to what is going on.
I think there must be a little bit of overspin or something? Is the piston coming to rest after each semi shot some place in the cylinder that is robbing it of air volume?
Edit: and why only on semi? My googling suggests usually it's the other way round (auto has lower fps) I think due to premature engagement?

Pretty much my parts list for my own DE UTR project - I was just waiting on finally pulling the trigger on a dremel but seeing as you can just hand-file the screw post away from your posts I might try and tackle it this weekend, we'll see
I used long thin metal files which meant I could only tackle the job from certain angles. This resulted, try as I might to avoid it, in other parts of the gearbox in line with the file also getting a very light sanding, but this shouldn't really effect anything.

Why are they so cheap? Surely they're not that mechanically different from regular AEGs? Or am I mistaken?

I recieved this email yesterday which may be of interest:
Warhead UK IS REBRANDING SOON - 10% OFF ALL ORDERS FOR MAY 2025
Over the coming months Warhead Industries UK will be rebranding with a new name of Redux Airsoft (www.reduxairsoft.com) website coming soon. This will take effect over the next few months and we are excited to show you what we are working on going forward.
Why are we rebranding?
About a year ago Warhead UK separated from the rest of Warhead Industries. The decision to rebrand has been a difficult one, but ultimately it is the best decision for us long term to make this move. The original Warhead UK support team up until recently were dealing with all of the customer service queries, repairs, problems and sales for Warhead Globally and have dealt with thousands of queries and problems for our customers.
The Warhead UK contingent have built a reputation of being honest, decent guys who have tried to help and give advice to as many customers as possible and we intend to continue this trend going forward under the new brand. With little choice but to start again and invest in designing new products and parts for AEGs both myself (Ben) and Luke (AKA Negative Airsoft) decided that we would launch a new brand and start from scratch.
Who are the owners of this new brand?
The owners of this brand are the current owner Ben who has operated Warhead UK for several years and was one of the original team who developed the Warhead Motor, along with Luke (AKA Negative Airsoft).
Will we be selling the same BBs in the future?
Yes absolutely. We will be selling the same BBs under the brand Redux Airsoft. Over the years we have built up a very good rapport with the owner of the factory producing the BBs and we will continue to use these going forward. This will not change. We will also be selling a larger range and focusing on being the best priced high quality BB on the market. Not only this but soon we will be releasing our own parts and other accessories, along with a range of upgraded airsoft guns specced out by Luke (more information on this coming in the next few weeks / months).
Will I keep my loyalty points?
Yes of course you will. These will be available as normal on your account. The rebrand will not affect this or have a negative impact on our pricing. In fact you will have a larger variety of products to spend your points on in the near future.
When will this rebrand happen?
We already have our rebranded BBs on the way so in the near future you will be seeing them coming. We are also working on some other parts along with our modified gun range which will be available in the near future. We hope that all of our current customers will join us in supporting the new brand. We have both spoken to many of you personally and appreciate not only your custom but your trust in us. Going forward we are very excited to show you what we can do with Redux Airsoft.
Ben + Luke
Interesting times ahead.

TBH everyone goes through the full plate carrier period, it's what's generally seen in the media in the various conflicts etc, but the truth is they're overkill for airsoft for so many reasons, & most players eventually see the light & switch to more suitable kit.
No, I will REFUSE to see the light, and I WILL wear twice my weight in armour. Nyeh.
It makes me feel... sexy.

You probably did not need to fit new bearings or change the piston parts and cylinder head, but that is done. You did the job and it is running ok, which is good.
hehe yeah
. It's cos the parts didn't cost much and I was probably thinking "they MUST make the gun better cos I'm spending money on it". I'll hang onto the stock parts though in case I want to put them back in.

It took me a while because of the ambidextrous bolt releases (I forgot how to put it back together and needed to go hunting on Youtube), but it's functioning again.
I will admit that a sense of impatience did overcome me toward the end, thus the shimming is probably "good enough" rather than "good". A few test shots show an FPS of around 285 on 0.25g with no hop. This did fall down to 275 on a second test - not sure why, but the fake bolt got a bit stuck around this point and wouldn't seat itself all the way home, so possibly that indicates something.
Almost certainly the air seal could be better - I thought chucking money at it all (see below) would result in something consistent, but I should probably take it apart again soon and see if there is any wear on any parts where there shouldn't be. I've done no AOE correction - it didn't look like it needed it (and I've been down a bit of a rabbit hole with regards to if it is really necessary...)
For my own reference, the parts swapped are:
Falcon ETU > Perun Hybrid V2
Stock spring of unknown strength > XT M105 Spring
Stock bushings and bearings > Zero J-Caged 8mm Bearings (potential clearance issue with the selector plate if I were to shim the gears perfectly? but no issues so far).
Stock 229mm brass barrel of unknown diameter > XT 229mm stainless steel 6.02mm barrelStock rotary hop unit > G&G rotary hop unit
Stock bucking > Maple Leaf Macron Green
Stock nub > Omega nub
Stock piston > XT 14 Tooth Piston CNC
Stock piston head > SHS Piston Head (6 Vents Aluminium)
Stock cylinder head > XT Cylinder Head Aluminium V2/V3 (Wide Pad)
More shims added (stock DE M906C has x4 0.5mm, x4 0.2mm, and x2 0.1mm unless I've miscounted)
I attempted to add an SHS Safety Latch (V2) but the selector switches really didn't like it, so I gave up on it (and it's not necessary thanks to the Perun).
Hopefully soon I'll get somewhere where I can test this out at range. As for upgrades, the next thing has to be a motor - the stock DE/Chaoli(?) motor is lethargic at best (and I could feel it getting every so slightly warmer than the ambient temperature after just a few shots). Dunno if I need to go brushless tbh - I'm more woodland focused than CQB, so I don't need the snappiest of snappy trigger responses.Anyone have any thoughts on how to monitor how the new parts are all interacting with each other? I'm probably gonna have to take it all apart again relatively soon right?
(...oh crap I probably haven't put enough lubrication on the gears lol)

Sector bottom - 0.8mm
Sector top - 1.0mm
Spur bottom - 0.5mm
Spur top - 0.8mm
Bevel bottom - 0.5mm
Bevel top - 0.2mm
Ugh. I never want to be an airsoft tech thanks to shimming. Gonna try and put it back together.
(If the numbers above look horrifically off to you, please say so.)
-
Held off on putting it back together as I needed more shims, which have now arrived. I've never shimmed before so I want to do a good job, but my god is this a boring process. It's like I've acquired a subject-specific instance of ADHD just for shimming.
That aside, I think I'm going to have to shim the sector gear higher than planned as I think it's making contact with the tiny screw holding in the Perun. Weirdly its only sounding like its contacting it with the same timing as the teeth meant piston rack (i.e. on off on off, not constantly in contact.)

Do not remove the post; the magnet holder should rest against it.
You will need to dremel off the raised screw hole that you have circled.
The manual is here: https://perunairsoft.pl/hybridv2.pdfYes, apologies, I misread the instructions as saying that the magnet holder shouldn't be in contact with that post (it should!)
I don't have a dremel to hand but some hand files have done the trick.
Have done the sensor tests and it's all working! Now to reassemble it without too much cursing (ambi controls and working ambi bolt catches make for a poor first timer attempt at this sort of thing...)
-
I've already run into my first problem:
The Perun won't sit flat against the side of the gearbox case because of the "bump" circled below.
The Perun magnet holder that is affixed to the trigger is making contact with the horizontal post indicated with the arrow. As far as I can tell the "bump" doesn't appear to do anything. I'll have to file these down to make everything fit. What tool do I need to obtain to do this?

Happy Easter all. Apologies for the necro, but there is no better thread for me to run in a panic to when I inevitably balls this up.
My beloved completely stock M906C gave up the ghost earlier this year, and after cracking it open I (rightly or wrongly) determined that the Falcon ETU was just broken, refusing to turn the motor (and only beeping after a lot of coaxing from me. Its been a while and I foolishly didn't write down what exactly it was doing). All other parts appeared to be in good working order, nothing stuck or caught.
So I'm sticking a Perun from @ak2m4into it, new bearings (cos why not), new XT 6.02mm stainless barrel (cos I like the colour and I had a new G&G hop up unit that I wanted to pair with it) and a new m105 spring. Motor I'll sort out later.
Please pray for me.

Website probably more broken than it appears. I've asked for a password reset, and nothing has arrived.

I need some pointers on where to look for reasonably priced, reasonable quality plate carriers for our currently embryonic team.
From my googling, it seems that the spectrum lies from cheap rebadged AliExpress tat to actual hardcore realsteel gear that costs minimum over £150-£200 (way beyond our needs).
Anyone got any advice on any potential brands that sit between these two extremes? I seem to remember Condor might fit the bill, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of that about these days.

But surely anybody can say whatever like in an introduction thread, pretty sure it wont be like:
"Gor blimey guvnor, an introduction thread, you've got me bang to rights & no mistake"
It's not about what they say, it's about making them post in the first place. Scammers won't be inclined to post at all, because they just want access to the classifieds, so any casual scammers will be instantly blocked.
This would likely also frustrate any bots or any scammers using automated tools specifically tweaked to this forum's software (as there is now a step that requires human intervention).

Could we not have a rule, before you can do ANYTHING after joining that you MUST post on the “new players” pageAn introduction of yourself that must be passed by an admin?
Just a brain fart thought 🤷🏻♂️
We definitely need some sort of filter to stop immediate access to the classifieds. This could work.
Alternatively go the SomethingAwful route and charge money for Account Registration. A mere £2.50, for example, would go a long way towards heading off scamming types, and defray some of AFUK's operating costs. But that comes with the disadvantages of putting off genuine casual potential users and needing to set up some way to handle money/personal info. So I like @Enid_Puceflange's idea.

I forgot that I'm on the mailing list for Wolf Armouries; just received a rare email from them announcing a restock of TM stuff, but this interesting tidbit was at the bottom of the email:
"Have you ever wanted to own one of the UKs longest running dedicated Airsoft Shops? If so please contact us on [email protected] we have been running it for 25 years now and happy to pass it on to the next person ready to keep it going for the next 25. Only serious enquires please and you must be able to show proof of funds."
I wonder how much a London-based airsoft shop goes for? And based on this thread, would a rebrand be in order?

Disassembled the whole thing - turns out:
