I wear my PTS Flux indoors for CQB as the Black Site is dark and has many things I can doink my head on (mostly due to being clumsy).  It’s also saved me a couple of times from what would have been very painful close range shots.  It gives a stable platform to mount my ears, as well as my head torch too.  Plus I think it looks cool!  I got the Spiritus Systems cover which is arguably the most underwhelming thing I’ve bought for the money in my entire life (it was about £90 if I remember correctly), so get a knockoff from eBay.  MTEK do laser cut camoskins in various patterns if you don’t want a cover.
 
There’s sod all chance I’ll wear it in the woods though except for the coldest of cold days.

I use a PTS Flux and it’s super comfy.  The cutout at the back is useful for looking up stairs/being prone, and it’s easily the comfiest helmet I’ve ever worn.  It’s a licensed copy of the real deal, and there aren’t that many around which is quite nice.
 
It’s not all roses though.  As the pads are memory foam they can get super warm in the height of summer, but that’s the price you pay for the comfort.  The straps and pads come out to be washed if you have sweated in I t.  As the rails are MLOK you have to be a bit more discerning over putting things on it, but I’ve not had an issue with things like putting cans on there.  And then there’s the cost.  
 
As it’s a proper replica and is made of nice things it’s not the cheapest around, but it arguably one of the best.

Don’t know if it’s entirely useful information, but I run a Warhead Standard Black on a base set of gears and a 9.9v LiFe and it’s pretty bloody snappy and very efficient on battery life.
 
For me, before everything a Warhead Motor is now the first upgrade before anything else

Yes & no, fets, sound generators, tracers, smoke generators, various options for recoil, hpa, wanker guns, the list is seemingly endless. 
Or, you could run a bog standard aeg with technology more than 25 years old, & still dominate the battlefield.

As a proud Scot I stick my feet in poly bags before I put my boots on.

Time to send all the broken/knackered stuff we all have kicking around at the back of the drawer.  I’ve got a KWA USPC with a knackered hop that it’s impossible to fix and make work for example…

If your boots are Goretex (or equivalent) and have a gusseted tongue you may want to look at a pair of gaiters rather than Seal Skinz socks as the main area of ingress will be over the top/wicking through your trousers.

I’ve got a pair of Lowa Z8’s and I love them, however as many have said my feet aren’t your feet!  I also found Scarpa’s to be really comfy, so maybe they might not be good for you as a result?
 
I used to play in Magnum’s when they were really cheap, but looking back I should have spent the money and played in something of decent quality like Lowa, Scarpa, Meindl, or Salomon.  Doing so would have reduced the odd issues I have now.
 
It’s going to be a bit of a mission to get the right boot, but once you’ve found a brand (and therefore last) that works for you stick with it.  Personally I’ll only ever buy Lowa again as I know they fit me like a glove. 
 
Without wanting to dismiss your issues, and without want to sound patronising are you drinking enough when you’re playing?  I work on my feet all day, and when I’m dehydrated my feet bloody kill me regardless of the footwear I’m wearing.  Making sure I was well hydrated meant that any pain in my feet was due to being old and fat!
