Soooo satisfying. To be honest, I tend to draw the pistol and have a little charge some times when I would probably be OK on the DMR MED, just for the drama of it.

The 'How Did Your Airsoft Day Go? Thread
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Skara's topic in General Discussion
I mostly go on my own too - agreed that at first i felt a bit uncomfortable as it seems everyone else is in big crowds of mates - but the reality is there are lots of others like us, quietly getting on with sorting our kit in the corner. And if you are so inclined, without fail, I've always found people will strike up a conversation at the slightest opportunity - ultimately you automatically have rather a lot of common ground with everyone else there! Also - agreed - DPM (and, similarly, Multicam Tropic) is beyond effective with Rhododendron! It was of course designed for a dense woodland environment of central Europe. Multicam/MTP is very effective, but ultimately a bit of a compromise, and is a touch too light in heavy cover (whereas DPM sticks out as a dark blob in open ground or very light cover). -
I use three weights in my pistols- 0.2s for the hicapas indoors - where speed to target matters more than range and, well, they are cheapest! 0.25 in the Glock 19 used as a secondary when i'm running a DMR in woodland (usually gets drawn and used in anger 3 or 4 times per game) - a little more rage and 'punch' to get through vegetation, but ultimately for that type of use, the DMR covers everything 25m plus, so range isn't that important, and .32s in the MK23 (other pronunciations are available, but ill advised) when it is used as a quiet secondary when I'm running the L96.

A fairly productive weekend - a DPM sleeve to cover the red HPA hose that I've recently picked up, a couple of white medic arm bands made from an old T-shirt, A mini internal dump pouch to velcro inside of my chest rig pouch and to use for sorting out empty shot gun shells from full ones, and finally an el-cheapo hydration pack from aliexpress for my HPA bottle (turned up less than 5 days after ordering - a record!) sprayed up to tone it down a little.

Filling from a large propane/calor gas bottle?
The_Lord_Poncho replied to ascii557755's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
On an aligned subject, over the weekend I had great success re-filling a standard green gas can (WE brand I think) from the residual propane left in a couple of the plumbers bottles. The trick is to find the correct sized plastic tube to join the two nozzles (i.e. the original nozzle on the green gas can, and the madbull style/clone adapter for the plumbers bottle) - and ensure it is strong enough. In testing, most ball point pen inner ink 'tubes' are too thin to fit the nozzles and too flexible. The perfect solution was a gel pen - that had a much thicker ink 'tube' and much stronger. It was then easy to leave the plumbers bottles on the radiator to gently warm them, and pop the empty green gas can outside in the cold to cool it (or presumably, the freezer in the summer). Then, stand the green gas can upright, slip the inch or so long length of gel pen tubing over its nozzle, invert the plumbers bottle with its adapter inside you gel pen tube, and push down hard - depressing both nozzles. You can hear (and see) the liquid gas transferring, and feel the green gas can warm up. Do it slowly in stages, and repeat the warming/cooling process enough times as it takes in order to maintain the pressure differentials. Previously I was left with a load of almost empty plumbers propane cannisters that were as good as useless - now I have an almost full green gas can, to use without faffing around with adapters! By pre-filling the gel pen tube with a light silicone oil before inverting the plumbers cannister and filling, you have the option of adding your preferred amount of silicone to the mix too. In terms of safety, go slow, and best not overfill the green gas can - ideally know how much it 'should' weigh when full with its original load of gas when purchased. Also, the plumbers propane bottles have pressure relief valves, but still, it would seem unwise to heat them up enormously on a radiator etc. I would imagine that this technique could also make more viable the use of those mini green gas cans that are a useful size to cart around with you during a game, but are an expensive way to buy gas. -
I've had very good service recently from this outfit - https://www.18airsoft.com/ Presumably asia based - super quick postage (7 days door to door both times), prices have been keen compared with many of the more established asian shops, and the postage costs were relatively speaking quite low. Can't recommencer them enough based upon my last two experiences.

That's an excellent use - almost preferable to use mixed weights to provide a bigger spread, and increase the size of the 'beaten ground'!

Yep, same here! Generally go into a bag that is then only used for testing feeding/cycling on guns after I've fiddled with them, or for breaking in new mid caps by repeatedly loading/unloading them.

Best bucking and nub for CYMA platinum ddkm18 (m4)
The_Lord_Poncho replied to tk2010's topic in Electric Guns
Almost certainly this - you mention you used PTFE - in the past, I have slightly twisted the bucking in the barrel window by pulling it off centre when wrapping the PTFE tape... Presume that you have also given the barrel a good clean to discount that, and are ensuring that the gun is absolutely vertical when you shoot it. -
Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Mack's topic in General Discussion
OOO Claymore! They look rather good fun - albeit I would suspect that its a bit of a faff to set up and the probable limp shower of BB's when triggered is probably at risk of not being felt by the enemy? -
I think i missed a trick when I bought my black ones, white shows off the RIFs much better. I suppose the pragmatic solution is to paint my RIFs white.

How to deal with condensation on optics
The_Lord_Poncho replied to ParHunter's topic in General Help
Rain X for the front of the scope, and an antifog for the lens at the back (I use 'cat crap') - it has made a difference for me. Also I was realising that most fogging was down to my heavy breathing misting it up, so now I make a bit of a conscious effort to not breath all over my scope, inc. holding my breath when I bring the rifle up to the aim etc. -

Superb morning Saturday at Driverwood - first game being a three point domination running the L96, with some memorable hits. The Multicam Tropic 'costume' ? (as my wife calls it) coupled with the viper hood lightly crafted during a particularly lengthy and tedious work Teams call proved outstanding amongst the dark rhododendron on parts of the site. Some particularly memorable events included getting well behind the enemy team and wreaking havoc, mainly with the MK23 - including rendering the pistol inoperable with a bit of bark jammed beneath the trigger, but confidently pointing it at an enemy player nonetheless, and persuading him to surrender! Second game consisted a simple aggressive and fast paced 'capture the flag' on a more restricted and linear part of the playing area, and my choice to ditch the viper hood and run with the XM177 proved the right one. All in all, a great morning. -
What is it with at least 50% of You tubers who insist on calling a MK23 (i.e. 'Mark23') pistol an 'M' 'K' 23?!! It makes me cringe every time! Am I being irrationally intolerant? Probably, but I can't help it - I just want to throw stuff at the screen when they do it, and once you've heard them say it the first time, you can't then unhear it for the next 40 times they mention it in the course of the video.... And don't even get me started on the ' Em Kay 18' rifle!

Most effective in gas guns for the reasons you mention, where they do a very good job of reducing noise. I did add foam to the two foot long supressor that came with the SR25 (AEG) which isnt a mega load AEG in comparison to some. I think it's made a slight reduction.

There was a batch of the old British assault boots where the soles suddenly self destructed without warning and crumbled almost overnight. People on patrol with field dressings wrapped around their boot to retain what was left of the sole was an amusingly common sight, kind of turned the boot into some kind of medieval fabric footwear.

Use their ebay store instead for those springs - £6.50 with free postage - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133377154930?hash=item1f0de5df72:g:UYoAAOSwtY1lH~qZ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4PLgz3gD1hlGPEAgPesPuUrGKXr8jAdVmHHEHpSudnTmp2RhN1xbfc52IM3CmXKHxtGCrZ5d%2FyzhhaWAz7Vq3VWlPCMyRSoBKjIl6RyJx0mj76vWnukwLsPC1sNDrqR%2F%2BpyC%2FozBLScg8geoM61Z3tZnJhBdBksDCOisrsuHA4Qs%2FucOUPLvxvfbxHp6Q4z4TEQUYzmnGPOQZ%2BYRi%2B69hJw0sgcXeFVOjCpdP4A8h7fpaawqasinPUeR6GA%2BGdlhX5rO41ovqU505TigvMEsrWUH1jdTz9JOmionMTUz03%2Fj|tkp%3ABFBMzIL_kZtj Bullseye always seem to post out very fast too.

The 'What have you just bought' Thread

Rubbing it in my face! I've been waiting for those to come for a while - guess you got one of the 'pre-releases'! -
Grip looks awesome. Not owning a GBB, I might need to pop one onto one of my AEGs, and just face the fact that every time I need to shoot I can get a finger into the base of the gearbox and just twist it around a little.

Army Armament R34 light striking with WE Mags?
The_Lord_Poncho replied to The_Lord_Poncho's topic in Gas Guns
I will take a look this evening and report back. I had hoped that the we hammer assembly would sort - but as it didn't, plausibly that is because the frame holds the magazine just that little bit too far forward/away from the striker. I suppose if that is the case, i would then have two options (short of buying a brand new suite of mags) - try to transplant the nice TTI style R34 slide onto a bog standard WE G17 lower frame (anyone know if Army Armament slides fit WE glock frames?) or try to fit new output valves onto all my my WE mags - assuming that doesn't screw those mags up for my other glocks....? -
Kind of my experience too - I bought a Well L96 @£100, then an upgraded hop unit at £20 (didn't fit), another upgraded hop unit at circa £40, new bucking £8, new inner barrel £30, metal trigger box £30 (didn't fit), new spring, piston, guide £30, and finally a new Cylinder when the original one failed after a game or two -£80. In due course, the original plastic trigger will fail, and then i'm into an £80 replacement. Total spend - £340 so far, and will soon be £420 when the inevitable happens to the trigger. As an example, Patrolbase currently have the Nov SSG96mk2 for (an entirely coincidental) £340, which already has all of those 'upgrades', a trigger box that is unlikely to break, and the added benefit of a TDC hop. Plus you retain your consumer rights with it. I'm not sure if i purchased a lemon in the original Well L96 (albeit internet based chatter seems to indicate not), but it wasn't really useable in its stock form - generally outranged and outshot by most of the cheapest AEGs. It's shooting nicely now with all the upgrades, and there is a sense of satisfaction from doing it yourself.

I've only progressed the paypal claim earlier this morning so not heard back yet. Worst case, i only lose out on £20 - and frankly, less if i can work out how to extract the broken valve and replace it - so not the end of the world, but I was still rather surprised by the response!
