Would MP5 mag pouches work for extended (50rd) glock pistol magazines, or are their better options? I'm not after open top (i.e. taco/bungee) type pouches....cheers!

Well, i never knew something like that existed! Just prompted me to do a search for 'empty felt tip pen' and voila, it appears that you can buy packs of empty/refillable felt tip markers! https://www.amazon.co.uk/SAVITA-Refillable-Markers-Painting-Graffiti/dp/B0B51H1J2B/ref=asc_df_B0B51H1J2B/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=641529185451&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3277307157925442133&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9044964&hvtargid=pla-1731300655915&psc=1 Perfect to fill with a light silicone RC shock oil or similar. Excellent, erm, tip!

I've been 5 or six times over the past year. Mostly had fun, but its a little 'rough round the edges'. Always had all guns chrono'd, but not tagged, and just as we went out for the first game. Site is effectively a subterranean grid of tunnels, with obstacles placed along their length. It is dark (and a light is useful/required), but there is much more light than e.g. Invicta Black Site. Engagement distances can be very close (lots of hits from <1m from people hiding behind barricades etc), and some of my most painful hits have been sustained here. They play a particular game every now and then which involves one team working up a single corridor, and the other defending, with a rolling re-spawn a few meters behind the attacking team. Not my cup of tea that particular game - very very painful, and quite frustrating. In general though, the sites nice for a mid-week game every now and then, and I generally come away on a high. Usually between 12 and 20 players each event, 'registration' by banging the guy an email pre-event, and then cash in a biscuit tin on the night. As per the post above, I wouldn't advise taking kids there, and full face protection+ gloves essential in my view.

I use a standard bit of webbing strap with a triglide buckle on mine. But if you don't want to butcher an existing sling, perhaps a loop of paracord to hook onto with your sling hook? A double fishermans bend would be a neat/tidy way to knot it.

Odin Speedloader Adapter for UTR-45
The_Lord_Poncho replied to pyromancer6's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I've been using a 3d printed universal adapter similar to the above - for a variety of non M4 mags (including UTR 45). A bit more awkward to hold in order to keep the nozzle of the adapter pressed into the mag as you wind the BBs in (i rest the base of the mag on my upper thigh), but perfectly doable. -
Another Sussex dweller here! Within the list of sites above, i frequent Driver Wood (excellent), and have been to dogtag (pretty good). To add to the list if you enjoy CQB in the dark- and with weekday evening games- the Epsom air raid tunnels (every wednesday night), and the Invicta Black Site (some wednesday nights and some weekends) are worth a visit, and good if you can't get a weekend pass from your keeper! I was at Invicta Blacksite last night - absolutely awesome.

People should absolutely have the confidence to crack on with chest compressions without formal training, similarly, maintaining an airway. With an unresponsive casualty, to stand by due to a lack of confidence may hasten their death/increase the likelihood that they end up with severe brain injury through oxygen starvation. To have a go and do you best may just mean that they are in a state that when professional/qualified/equipped care turns up, they can do something useful. Of course the gold standard is to get some training, and frankly i find it astonishing how few people do - especially when the overwhelming likelihood is that it is a family member or a good mate that is the person in desperate need for first aid from you. Re. one the the above points - agree that motorcycle helmets should be removed - but only if essential to perform immediately necessary first aid - e.g. to maintain an airway and/or to perform CPR. In the example above, if the person is still talking then it wouldn't be necessary to remove the helmet. There is a correct way to do so in order to minimise neck/spinal movement. The trick is to work down the priorities of first aid - Airway, Breathing, Circulation (yes i know its more nuanced than that, but for the purpose of this thread...!) i.e. - if the airway is blocked - you MUST do something about it (i.e. clear it, get the casualty into a position where it is cleared and unobstructed). If they are not breathing/oxygenated blood getting to the brain you MUST do something about it (i.e. chest compressions + mouth to mouth if you are comfortable/able). If there is a catastrophic (i.e. arterial) bleed, you MUST do something about it (i.e. direct or indirect compression). There are right and wrong ways of going about these actions, as well as ways which would minimise the likelihood for causing secondary long term complications/injuries, but everyone must still have a go after first calling for help - unless there is someone better able with you that can perform those immediate actions more effectively. Example, a motorcyclist is unconscious and unresponsive. After ascertaining this, you remove his helmet in order to open up his airway and perform CPR. In the process, it later turns out that you have exacerbated a spinal injury and the person is paralysed. He is, however, alive and with a functioning mental state - you having maintained a supply of oxygenated blood to his brain until the ambulance arrived equipped with a defib etc. The alternative scenario, you look on, paralysed into inaction as you are concerned about something you read on the internet about never removing a motorcyclists helmet/a nonsense sticker on the helmet itself stating the same thing; the person is pronounced dead at the scene when medical care does turn up, and you spend the rest of your life wondering whether you could have made a difference for that bloke and his family! Appreciate that this is all a little emotive and heavy a subject, but i do think it is rather important. Perfect excuse for people to book themselves onto a first aid course/get your workplace to do so at their expense!

In my view, on game days no need for anything more than a couple of plasters and a wide roll of zinc oxide/fabric tape in the safezone for those annoying cuts and grazes; anything more major (field dressings/eye washes etc) should be able to be supplied by the first aid kits legally required to be held by the site. Kits for cars, walking, life etc are another thing - i personally have medical scissors, a large field dressing + tourniquet in each car; and a personal first aid kit for weekends in the woods, walking etc with the above+ more dressings (tip - eye pads are great for cut fingers), fabric tape, saline for eyes, quick clot packing tape, and a resuscitation mouth seal thingy to make vom covered mouths more palatable.... I'm afraid In my view this is nonsense. You should always always have a go, and do what you think will help, unless there is someone better experienced/qualified available immediately to take over. The law will protect you (in this country) if you have done your best and what a reasonable person would have done. We aren't in America, where things might, sadly, turn out rather differently. I for one would find it a struggle to maintain any degree of self respect if i passed someone by that needed help just because i was afraid of a theoretical legal action from aggrieved relatives. I'm sure the (UK) statistics of success of such actions of that nature will back the point up.

Yep, I've been there too! I assume you are talking about the black cab? How that vehicles suspension still stands up to the amount of BB's in it, I'll never know! I'm planning on heading over to Driver Wood this weekend I think. (Invicta Black Ops tomorrow night first) -

Driver Wood too - strongly enforced, and the safe zone feels so much, well, safer as a result. One of the reasons I take mates to Driver Wood for their first experience of the game. I find it bonkers that all sites don't do it. For something so cheap (I knocked up four of them on the sewing machine for pennies, but should be free to borrow from sites with a small deposit put down), there really is no excuse. Unless people are lunatics about the sleek lines of their gats fore ends being disrupted.... -
TTI PCC carbine (AAP-01) – worthwhile?

TTI PCC carbine (AAP-01) – worthwhile?
The_Lord_Poncho replied to The_Lord_Poncho's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Thanks all, appreciated! I guess they are not quite as numerous as I'd assumed! Skara, great info. What length inner barrel did you go for in yours, and have you an estimate of rough useable range? Is it really DMR territory? -
TTI PCC carbine (AAP-01) – worthwhile?

By the deafening silence, I am guessing that the answer to the overall question (is the TTI PCC carbine kit worthwhile?)....is a resounding no! -

Ah, I see! I presume that you intend to use it/programme it to use the PMR 446 frequencies - which are UHF, and yes, if so, use the first antenna that you mentioned - its length will be better tuned to those frequencies, and thus be much more efficient. At risk of something that should be its own thread, you possibly need to look into programming etc. -
I’ve a few AEGs, and now have developed a bit of a hankering for something rather different. A GBB pistol carbine rather appeals, and having handled a SSX303 a while back, that initially crossed my mind. However, I already have an upgraded Mk23, and know the trigger to be horrible. And frankly, would like a bit of variety – so my attentions have turned to an AAP-01 based carbine. Plenty of 3d printed options abound, but really I would like something that is fully metal – which is why I’ve turned my attention to the TTI PCC carbine for the AAP-01. However I’ve managed to find relatively little genuine discussion of its merits online (including in this forum); and when all the various parts have been purchased + assembled it will be rather expensive (including a load of G17 mags – I'm starting to regret previously putting all my eggs in the G19 basket!). Does anyone on here own one, and if so, how does it genuinely perform? Can it really be a contender for a decent DMR without a stupid amount of upgrades (I already have a DMR’d SR25)? What is the kit quality like, and would it be a sensible route to get into (occasional) GBBR usage?

The antenna that came with it will be more than adequate for airsoft ranges. UHF is generally 'line of sight', so terrain is the biggest factor in defining their range. A longer and higher gain antenna will be beneficial, but only really noticeable if you are working it at circa 2km+ ranges, which would be unlikely with 99% of airsoft fields; and in any respect, the negatives of the more unwieldy length in games would outweigh any discernable benefits in my view. -

I'd imagine they would fit any headset etc with a kenwood type plug or adaptor -
You hear lots of scare story's about fragments going through mesh, and I'm sure a few of them are true. However my personal view is that you would need to be exceptionally unlucky for a BB to fragment and elements pass through, if they did their velocity would likely be reduced substantially such that they would be a nuisance rather than a danger. And if you are both wearing glasses underneath anyhow, then happy days. When outdoors, i always play with mesh these days - I tried a plethora of different goggles and anti mist sprays first! In my view, especially factoring in your son - the likely danger of him being tempted to lift and try to clear a steamed up mask mid game is much higher than the risk of BB fragments penetrating mesh. Those big 'kombat' style mesh masks that you likely were given by the site (Dogtag by any chance?) are also rather flexible, reducing further the likelihood of BB fragmentation. Welcome by the way! I'm just into East Sussex, and Dogtag was my first place i tried airsoft out a year and a half back.

Looks like a PMR446 locked version of the BF888s - solid choice. -
E&C EC305 or CYMA CM028U
The_Lord_Poncho replied to AirsoftfaninTurkey's topic in New Players & Arrivals
I've had a cyma 028 for a year or so (I bought it used very cheaply). Cracking bit of kit for the price, a little lighter as parts of it are plastic (there is a surprising amount of metal on it still though). Only negatives really for me- the plastic part of the receiver is a wierd grey (nothing that a spray of matt black can't solve), and if you ever want to get inside it, it's a bit of a pain to take apart. -

Cracking Sunday morning at Driver Wood, introduced a mate and his son to the game - I suspect that it won't be their last! Circa 100 players, 20%(ish) rentals, and really good game play. I had a three moments where I had managed to get behind the opposition, and shoot 5 or 6 of them in the back before they worked out what was happening, including 10 seconds before the last game ended. Good hearted congratulations and fist bumps from them all round really added to my enjoyment of the day, and hammers home just how worthwhile it is to dish out the praise when someone pulls off a good move, a tricky shot, or manages to drop a Mk5 right next to you! I played with my first RIF - an ancient Cyma AK 028, picked up second hand a few years ago for £40, and given a new piston and rack. The thing absolutely rocked, and truth be told, started to put the Cyma SR25 in the shade.... -
Would a light/thin silicone oil (e.g. 100wt) or a heavy/thick silicone oil be best to add to mags to assist the seals etc?

Driver Wood is my local site, and i really enjoy it. Its a great site, plenty of thick vegetation to allow sneaky three dimensional play, interspersed with open areas to add variety. Definitely don't write it off - from all that I've been to, its by far the most professionally run and managed, and the safe zone feels, well, safe. In a year and a half of going there, I've only ever witnessed one proper argument between players, and I can't fault the manner in which the marshals reacted to that situation - ultimately though, I appreciate there is only so much that they can do. Seeing that kind of behaviour definitely leaves a bad taste, but it really isn't something I see as endemic to Driver Wood. I tend to go only to the morning sessions, plausibly people might be a little more level headed when they are less tired? -
I did all of this, with the exception of replacing the barrel to my UTR45 - to be honest I find the stock barrel pretty good. The only additional change I have made was to swap out the motor to an SHS High Torque motor. I found the stock motor was adequate, but not great. Changing to the SHS high torque has made it a more satisfying experience.

Double Eagle or spend more?
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Gunboat Diplomat's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Agreed! I certainly go as light and unencumbered as possible, in CQB often just with a few spare mags on a belt and a pistol - whilst others have full on plate carriers, helmets with more attachments and wires than the average christmas tree, pouches everywhere. I suppose its a personal preference for the ratio between supposed 'realism' and comfort/performance. That said, three shots on a nipple from 2m away, with only a UBACs to protect it last time i played indoors did make me consider my options!
