  1. Considering Driver Wood is the only site I've been to where an argument between players has come to throwing punches, I'd say that it is unfortunately warranted. Albeit not for defending staff actions, but more so for potential footage of evidence or to back up the site banning a player.

  2. The errant part arrived today, received a phone call from Dave himself yesterday morning, saying that the shipment had arrived. He even gave me free post, (I'd moved since placing my order and could no longer reasonably make it to the shop) I offered to pay the difference bit he declined.

So, I would absolutely recommend or use DCA again in the future, but only for their UK in stock items.

Unfortunately said item was an AK wooden stock, meant for a JG, with the part arriving being an SRC stock - no real fault of DCAs, they just get what they're given by the euro wholesaler, so it will require a bit of filing/trimming to fit. But it will finish the build.

    Matter resolved.

  3. Braved the wind for the first skirmish day of the year at Imperium. Luckily the wind wasn't too bad with most of the chosen playing areas sheltered by trees/terrain.

Low numbers for the site, at about 40 pax. A few father/son duos which is always nice to see. Relatively slow start to the morning, with the first game not starting until just after 10:30. Especially when the safety kicks off around 09:00.

2 games either side of lunch, and considering the wind and cold meaning more layers worn, hit taking wasn't too bad. With a few but not many complaints and not extra briefings from the Marshall. Good play with quite a few "kills" pushing positions or getting sneaky flanks.

The only point of contention was the use of one player's 'riot' shield. It kind of unbalanced a capture the flag game. Especially with said player declaring they couldn't feel below the shield leg shots because of padding.  And the shield seemingly impervious to pyro - it was briefed at the beginning to be bb resistant only.

Overall good day, but as always I would recommend the "ground war" days at Imperium, mainly because skirmish days are like herding cats. The next ground war is on the 4th of Feb, may see some of you there.

I'm guessing they build up a number of orders (whole order) before shipping out from Poland in order to bulk ship?  Cheaper for them but can introduce delays.  I had Airsoft stuff on a BOAT leave China mid November and arrive December 27th.  Sometimes customs will stop shipments and check all items meets conformity etc, had that happen once with some chrono's, they said the chrono's weren't supplier with instructions, waited almost 3 months for them.  The instructions were sitting in the box.  Nightmare.

As your part isn't that expensive worth ordering another one from HK?

Fair enough, didnt realise things can get held that long - my dad imports furniture, and the longest he's had is about 3 week hold. I'll wait a bit longer then.

I'd have thought the euro-supplier stuff would be a case like you said every 2 weeks or however long they just put their bulk order in, or ship what's been ordered in the last 'x' period if time.

  5. Hi all, ordered a single part - nothing too exciting or expensive, from DCA knowing it was from their euro-distributor (gunfire?) with the expected arrival into their shop of 15-30 days.

Item ordered first week of November, with a notification they'd placed the order with the wholesaler 3 days later. Without hearing anything else for 30 days, I sent an enquiring email on the 31st/32nd day, asking after the item's whereabouts. On 12th Dec, told via email the whole order was being held by customs/border force but would be released 'soon' - fair enough, forgotten about and I enjoyed the xmas festivities. No further news until chasing up yesterday, 16th Jan, to be told today that the order was still with customs/border force.

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? Probably just going to request a refund at this point and move on.

  6. I've got quote a few in my Steam library but the ones I actually play predominately are:

    Total War Empire / Attila

Age of Empires 2 - childhood nostalgia

S.T.A.L.K.E.R series (I need to try the Gamma/Alpha mods)

    DAYZ

If you've never played them before, I'd recommend the METRO series- good single player games

  7. They've not provided extra cover at least the last 3 years, since I first sold a RIF. Doubt they probably ever have.

Any compensation charged at the counter by staff is probably due to ignorance to their rules or the generic questions they have to ask as to value.

Personally I've always prepaid online and just dropped it off to be scanned. And had no dramas so far.

  8. They will insure RIFs/Package items to their minimum insurance level for PF48 which IIRC is £150, any additional/enhanced insurance is null and void in the shipping of RIFs with them.

Last time I read through their T&Cs they will only ship "Low Powered Air Weapons" using their PF48 service, so not sure how they'll respond to the use of PF24 etc for shipping.

    Below image from their T&Cs.

  9. I might be able to help with MTP clothing, you're welcome to ping a private message. I'm trying to get the ball rolling on an online military surplus store, to help me alongside being a poor mature student. Mainly looking to shift stuff at a smidge above wholesale prices to get my processes polished. Offer is there for anyone else. Cheers.

However bootfairs can be a good shout for picking up kit.

  10. You could list the material kit on eBay, seen plmety of bundles or single items. Viper kit does alright on there. Just fill the item title and description with as many relevant key words as you like. Just mind out for eBay fees when you price things up. If you qent the ebay route I'd recommend putting all the Woodland stuff in one group, mtp in another and a final one for the black pouch/other bits. Happy selling. Or if you can wait a bit longer into 2024, Red Alert in Berkshire usually run quarterly bootfairs, or you have the Midlands airsoft fair - and I'm sure there's plenty of other sites that hold bootfairs out there. They'd potentially easier to sell the RIFs at.

  11. Run a chicom 3 mag pouch. Currently gathering components to build a chicom "visits brecon, webbing set".

Have used the SADF Pattern83 vest before and regret selling it tbh. And for anyone with multiple RIFs, I'd say it's an easy go to if you don't mind the colour.

Franken-rig made up of 1 x PLCE dpm yoke, ARKTIS side plate panels and buckshee osprey pouches. Gave me a split front chest rig for £20. Has the ability to carry 6 + 5.56 mags, 2 x pistol mags or speedloaders, water/food/pyro etc. Actually half decent. Shame I don't run any 5.56 RIFs.

Also bought a 5 cell 5.56 bandolier to add elastic to and run as an Allen belt type bit of kit of just over the shoulder.

  12. I'd recommend Cyma AKs however I'd say if you can, go for a VFC clone as opposed to the TM ones, purely down to "newer tech" in the way the VFC ones are built.

Note that Cyma AKs do tend to fire "hot" from new- I had one at 370fps on .2s. So you may need to change the spring to suit your sites limits. Or buy 2nd hand that is at the correct FPS.

If you got a 028 AK second hand you don't want to be paying more than £80/90 for the RIF and a mag or two.

Cyma AKs are quite common in the classifieds and are usually sensibly priced - but the higher end Cyma's run into 2nd hand prices for E&L and LCT aks. Which have superior externals but sometimes lackluster internals.

Not used MP5s so can't comment.

Tri Shotguns are supposedly underwhelming  with usually 1in3 barrels only hopping a BB correctly, the other 2 dribble out. I do have a spring AGM MP003 single barrel Shotgun which is OK as an emergency back up/garden plinker- it cost me £18 from Extreme Airsoft.

Finally, as above don't bother with an AEP pistol. They're similar money to a Gas non-blowback pistol like the clone MK23s (ASG/STTI) - which I'd say is a better option and they're upgradeable.

All the best, enjoy the money pit that is Airsoft.

  13. For Postage and packing, the only  postal carrier that will ship RIFs knowingly for a private seller is Parcelforce via the 48hour service. Been a while since I've shipped one but its around £10 give or take a bit of change for anything upto 10kg.

Can't help with the exact valuation of the RIFs though. Usual pricing for a working RIF is around 60% of retail price. Maybe more if its a collectors item. There are a few sites/traders that will buy RIFs like Action Hobbies or Stack Up Airsoft. They're like the CEX of airsoft I guess.

    All the best.

  14. Hi there, looking for a price guide on my LCT AKMS

Stock internals, black polymer pistol grip, wood handguard set (some marks/bb ding) shoots about 290 fps on .25s.

I have swapped gearboxes on this and put my upgraded gear box back into my other AK. This is just a stock LCT gearbox and internals without a quick change spring system.

On reassembly I did have an issue which I asked for feedback here:

however, without further tinkering and a mid caps worth of bbs through it today the issue 'resolved' to just staying in semi when going back up to automatic fire.

Auto, works when going down from safe.

Other than that one of the cables going into the battery connector can be a bit loose. Recommend wire to Deans.

Solid RIF, and sturdy folding stock.

Would I be mental asking for £225 before post and fees?

Ideally I'd like to keep the handguards in which case I'd be looking for £200 before post and fees for a 'bare' RIF.

Any of that sound reasonable. Only reason for sale is I'm looking to diversify away from just AKs.

For some reason my forum posts are limited in file size, so I can't attach a pic of the RIF

  15. Put together an LCT AK after swapping gearboxes between RIFs, after faffing around getting the selector in the right place for semi/auto safe. I have the issue that when going from Semi back up to automatic the trigger depresses but the motor does not engage - to get engagement I have to go back to safe and then back to auto/semi.

    Any ideas?
