Macks airsoft dreamers of the week thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Mack's topic in General Discussion
To be fair you normally have to pay quite a bit extra at the massage parlour for a "touch pack handdel", but is this the time and the place for it??? -
-
I've had the same thing. Have you already taken it apart? Just wondering if there's a chance you put it together again with something misaligned... Alternatively there is a chance the lip at the rear of the hop rubber has been split and is impinging on the rear of barrel, forming a lip or nub that causes side spin.

Seems a fair enough price to me

From the "bargain bin" end of the spectrum... Action Hobbies have a battle belt with harness in multicam for just £15 I bought one, didn't get on with it as my 'non-svelte sizing' (i.e. fat bastard-ness) meant all the kit hung a bit too far around the sides, towards the back. But if you're not a porker then it's going to be fine https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/viper-technical-harness-set/ Alternatively there's the skeleton version which I think can be had cheaper elsewhere, but that fitted me very well, and I'd have probably stuck with it if I'd bought the multicam one instead of the black. https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/viper-skeleton-harness/ (So after trying both these options I actually ended up buying and using a Bulldog Mk3 battle belt with a separate harness, which is deffo 'weightlifter belt' sized. It works very well for me)

I'm very happy with my D.O.R version... https://www.defconairsoft.co.uk/product/tokyo-marui-hi-capa-5-1-d-o-r-direct-optics-ready-gbb-pistol/ I have no intention of fitting the optic on it, I just like everything else about it. I bought it especially for the larger gas volume from the updated internals which has meant it worked perfectly during the cold weather

That was a good read @Rogerborg and as someone who buys guns impulsively that DE M52 would certainly tickle my fancy. Thanks for highlighting it!

Have I pasted a link to a Double Eagle M904G in here yet? Damnit, I must be slipping. I'll stop getting those commission payments from DE if I don't do my job properly... Oh. Patrolbase out of stock. BBGuns4Less out of stock. Arggh. That's the bargains done for. it'll have to be these two: https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916g-utr556?pv=17877 https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m906c-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html

Yes this is true. One recent game I found a bunch of day rental puffa-jacketed teens seemed to be impervious to single rounds, it became "let her rip, or aim for the head". That does me no credit, but by heck lad, it felt good at the time (and had the desired effect of getting their hands in the air. I suspect they walked about 20m before returning to the fray, but small victories...)

Some guidance for a returning player

I would say that with your budget you could afford to get something interesting. And an M4. Yup, it's Double Eagle M9xx recommendation time, again... good solid backup gun if nothing else... https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/double-eagle-m916g-utr556?pv=17877 -
If you go through checkout with the site still set to Euro, it does allow you to select credit card. Slight downside is the 220 Euro delivery charge

Some guidance for a returning player

I recently bought a TM AUG HC from here, and it's a great gun - scratching that "not another m4" itch. I've found to my (future) cost that AUG mags don't fit in my hard shell M4 pouches (So I'm going to buy some Novritsch 556/762/AUG pouches in the near future) They do fit fine in soft pouches like Brit issue L85 ones though... just a 'beeyatch' to get them back in again, if that's what you prefer to do, rather than using a dump pouch. So that's something to bear in mind. The other obvious alternative would be an AK variant? Plenty available with rails etc, and I haven't seen many AKs at my site. The Cyma Platinums would seem to be a good series to look at, given how even the basic Cyma AK's are well thought of. edit: ho hum, made a bit of a tit of myself there, the only Cyma Platinum AKs I found when having a quick look are those not-quite-right M4-stocked variants. Nahhhhhh. -
Sights: when to bother, when to not

I do like using my Kobra on my DE906. It's zeroed in nicely so I can pre-aim and get a one-shot kill at medium distance. It adds something to the feel of the thing. Watching the stream of plastic and walking it in is 'all airsoft and no realism'. I know talking about realism is a bit silly in this context, but we enjoy good quality webbing, camo, boots, and realistic looking guns, so why compromise on the shooting bit, the bit that ought to be the most important? If I can't get the sight zeroed properly though... -
It's true... ff to the performance section of this vid though I think my 1070ti, plus a desire for instant gratification (oooo-errr missus) means I'll be sticking to BF4 and WW3 for the time being. Arma 3 was a little too clunky (and I'm sure the framerate played a part in that) for my taste, but if I can get my grubby mitts on a 4xxx Nvidia card when they're out, I might well give this (or more likely Arma 4) a go. (ps. if any of you play BF4 TDM, I'm "dodBrooker" on the [SAND] servers)

Looks me to like a 'defuse the bomb' app, so you could hide parts of the key sequence on bits of paper inside ammo boxes scattered around the site... find the boxes, get the key code, disarm the bomb. Or have a VIP who knows the code and is held prisoner... free the VIP, unlock the secrets, win the game. That sort of thing, I think... The time tracking means the marshals don't have to run their own stopwatches to see which team does it fastest. Quite tidy and a nice extra bit of fluff to the proceedings to lift it above the normal 'get 3 boxes in one place' kind of thing.. though does require a smart phone that might get bashed around a bit

It seems a reopening of the main site was touch and go for today, but it turned out to be all touch and no go 😑 Anyway, apparently the cqb site is progressing, so hopefully there'll be some pewing in the locale shortly It'll probably open just at the point I sod off for my summer hols

The 'What have you just bought' Thread
RostokMcSpoons replied to Cameron364's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
It was £50 from a mate I am somewhat amazed that my burgeoning armoury hasn't been called out by my wife, I've literally got guns stacked in a corner, and 3 gun cases where I had none before... mostly bought since November last year I can only assume she's got a pile of recently bought shoes and handbags I don't know about. (The house overflows with shoes and bags as it is) Yeah a G&G Raider without a mosfet and a slow-ish trigger response is not going to be competitive against (wait for it... wait for it...) a Double Eagle M9xx It's a decent gun of course. I guess a lot of people who don't bother researching on forums, but get to try a G&G Raider as a rental will still buy it. Ignorance is bliss! -
On a game day I get through 1500-2000 normally (with some single-shot games in the mix), but I'm sure I've gone as high as 3000, so I usually ensure I have a couple of kilos of BBs knocking around (or buy some extras at lunchtime)
-
I've decided to go for the "I don't give a stuff" approach to battery maintenance, as I can afford to replace the small cheap 11.1v lipo's I've mostly got now... at £10-£15 a shot they're priced where I don't mind buying more of 'em. I just hope they don't ever go pop where they could hurt me or my stuff. Killing a Titan that costs £35-£45 is a harder hit. So I keep it for my most trusted gun (the DE). It'll run all day very happily so it's definitely a good bit of kit.
-
I've had mixed fortunes with my Titan batteries... had a 7.4v that wouldn't charge, then would, then died. Titan replaced it. The the replacement died. They replaced it again. That died too, they replaced it (with me paying the difference) with an 11.1 nunchuck that was my preferred option at that point. That's been running like a champ. Touch wood. The battery deaths were either my fault (trying to use the battery in possibly faulty guns?) or because I left the battery in the gun with a Mosfet that drained the battery to the point of death after only a couple of days (which they say can't happen, but apparently can). So the batteries are great when they work, the customer service is great, but you still need to take them out of guns when they're not in use - they're not infallible. The alternative is to buy a few cheaper lipo's, keep them in a fire-proof box and treat them as 'consumables'

... until we start 'upgrading' it 😛

I shall return asking for specific help with "the hot water trick" and "security flathead bits" if I need to... but touch wood, my relatively new TM mags will be ok for a while now, now I know how to simple it is to get to the seal and the need to keep it all tightened up. My valve key won't turn up until the middle of June! (But has cost 'only' £6.80 inc p&p)
