  1. The other benefit alongside how consistent HPA is, is with tuning your trigger. That consistency means you don't have to account for cool down leading to it suddenly wanting to run away from you, so to speak. I tried it and simply found it wasn't for me, with the reasons being very much specific to me, the big two being: It just felt weird to hold both because of the bulk of the adapter and the AR mags themselves. I find the same with extended pistol mags (tapped or not), I just can't get on with something protruding that far out of the grip. Having to run a tank on my kit. In general I like to run chest rigs with nothing bulky on my back, and that never felt like an option with HPA and is largely the reason I've left it behind. Can't fault the benefits when it comes to overall performance, and the 'downsides' are well documented at this point. Edit: I tended to use a 36" line with HPA'd stuff, when using a pistol 42" felt like a better length. Just gave a bit more freedom of movement. Mileage will likely vary based your exact set up but felt worth mentioning/thinking about.
  2. Generally somewhere between 20-25% of the cost of your order plus £10-£15 'brokerage fee' (the nonsense couriers throw on there to take their slice). Mine worked out at bang on 23% of my total order (including postage), plus £11.50 brokerage. So about £50 extra on a £170 order, still saved well over £100 versus ordering the same in the UK. With the addition that some of the items I ordered aren't carried by any UK retailers (at least not that I could find). Mileage will vary based on what it is you're ordering of course.
  3. It's between this and the Infinity for me, though for my tastes I'd be intrigued to see what a black barrel and recoil guide rod would look like (not that my tastes count for anything!)... though I guess that would ruin the 3-tone. Filling on the markings looks cleannn 👌
  4. Sometimes a shit day and pay day coincide, and you make some potentially questionable decisions. Let's see how this plays out 🤷‍♂️.

at the risk of getting a bit philosophical, i think it's more of a doctrine/culture thing when it comes to the russians insofar as their focus seems to be more "close enough for government work", at least outside of special forces.

the thing i notice with the russian stuff is what often doesn't necessarily seem the most comfortable if you're sitting thinking about it (eg if you're messing around at home just holding the thing) just fades into the background when actually on the field.

For sure, outside of something being obscenely heavy I don't think many of the things we mess around tweaking do much once you're playing... but I definitely think they have an impact on how you feel afterwards. Much the same as a pair of ill fitting boots, you don't notice anything when the adrenaline is going and you're focused on other things. But then you sit down at lunch and realise your heels are throbbing. In that instance, unless you're a dope, you probably look at getting some new footwear because you know what the root cause is... and the same applies to me for attachments and the like. Though without intentionally trying to sound like a 'elit3 0per8r' (because I'm certainly not), many throw these things on RIFs for looks and don't actually know what they exist to aid with and with that, know what they could improve in terms of comfort by changing things out. We have the luxury of not having to consider a whole host of stuff that comes with real firearms to largely follow whatever list of priorities we have for our RIFs.

All comes with the caveat that folks should do whatever the hell they want, as long as they're having fun and not putting anyone (including themselves) at risk of any injury or grief.

(Thank you for saving my Saturday afternoon with a natter about ultimately useless shit, Christ I am so bored)

yeah i do agree. whilst i'd be the first to advise new starts not to cover their gats in superglue and drag them through wal-mart i also don't do super-light guns. the latest krink build is verging on sa80 heavy and that's just an optic, suppressor and 2dp :P in my defence, it's mostly for the exercise and my crippling addiction to blued steel.

i'm not against putting carbon fibre on an m4, to make it light but that m4 will have an alloy reciever. its a weird philosophy i know.

i can see your viewpoint on the whole comfort thing, maybe my views are centred around my build just suiting most standard length stocks.

plus ofc arguments about effectiveness with this sort of thing in airsoft are kind of moot anyway given if we really cared about performance we'd be running those stupid m4 pistol things the speedsofters use :P

  5. Largely as @Wo1f said, a good option if it's solving an issue you have. Biggest plus being space saving for transport/storage. If that was something I felt I needed/wanted I'd probably be inclined to wait to see if it impacted performance.
  6. First delivery of repro Zenitco parts for the Krink arrived today. Extremely excited for this all to come together, fingers crossed fitting the hand guard won’t be too much of a pain! And y’know, praying the Krink itself turns up at some point when it’s released from the clutches of UPS.
  7. Aye, fortunately outside of nipping out to post things I've sold on Wednesdays and taking the dog out (which tends to be outside of delivery times) the current situation means I'm at home all day everyday so that shouldn't be too problematic. Though I certainly feel for those that are in a position where scheduled deliveries are something they can ideally plan around, nothing worse than waiting in all day for a parcel to show up that never does.
  8. Mine update from 'Import Scan' to 'Clearance Completed' on the 20th but haven't had any further updates since. Scheduled delivery still shows as March 15th 2021, so that's good 😂.
  9. The arrival of my Ferro Mini Dangler and Crye Stretch Flap sees both of my chest rigs finished (at least for now). The AirLite is set up for when I’m running an AR or AK74, the Microfight is setup for running pistol only in CQB or my VSR (turns out Spiritus Pistol inserts take VSR mags pretty nicely). And a Vortex Crossfire, pair of NGRS mags and a Laylax NGRS wrench for my birthday from my long suffering girlfriend.
  10. I've largely given up on trying to figure out where I fall, the NGRS I own has all the bells and whistles in it and I bought it second hand as such (I've used stock ones for a few games, but don't own one so there is a definite degree of hypocrisy on my side). I guess I very much subscribe to 'you do you hun' (though I should be careful throwing that around after what happened last time), and accept that often buying something that simply doesn't improve something and having to swallow the pride and rip it out just comes with the territory. When it comes to buying shit our brains often take over, the reaction generally dictated by subconcious (and occasionally entirely concious) expectations. Which is why it's good to know what it is you actually want to improve, I knew I wanted a MOSFET (happens to be a Titan but that wasn't a specific I was after) because I'm coming back to AEGs from HPA and wanted to keep as close to the instantaneous action as I could. I dare say unless it's a RIF exclusively for CQB ther aren't many that would actively turn down the opportunity for more range, that's just a matter of weighing up what it's costing you (and not in the financial sense). The general concensus seemingly being that reliability/longevity (they seem to be used interchangably in this hobby despite not really meaning the same thing), I'm more than happy to conceed the RIF needing more maintenance/throwing a strop and having to go back in the car on a game day for those improvements. It's all very subjective based on your own list of priorities you want for/from a RIF. Once you've got that list squared away, you're golden .
  11. Irrelevant of the outcome of what you choose to do you at least know what your benchmark is, that's generally the biggest foul for me when swapping things around. Ultimately the less you change, the easier it is to swap back if you're not happy with the results. I'm all for folks trying new shit in RIFs, as much as we wish they were no two RIFs/parts will ever be identical. The only true way of knowing if any difference has been made, for better or worse, is knowing what you're comparing against.
  12. YMMV but if you did opt for a 6.01 be prepared to clean it very regularly. I tend to clean out my barrels after ever game day anyway, it’s part of my ‘wind down ritual’ after a day running around like an idiot. On the odd occasion I’ve even done a barrel clean on longer 6.01’s during the lunch break. I’d tend to advise 6.03-6.05 for anything over 130mm-ish (pistol barrels) if it’s semi/burst/full autoing (generally speaking the more BBs going down the barrel, the less inclined I am to go with a 6.01). I personally wouldn’t go to 6.01 on anything longer than a pistol barrel, ultimately up to you but felt worth mentioning in regard to how prepared you are to clean it out regularly.
  13. Given what it is you actually want to improve I’m not sure too much messing around in the gearbox itself is necessary, and getting to the hop/barrel in an NGRS is extremely easy (assuming it’s an AR/416). I don’t do my own teching on AEGs in terms of wiring and gearbox work (I’ve only recently gone back to them after a few years on the HPA side of the fence), but I’d generally recommend everyone gets familiar with the process of taking a hop and barrel set up apart and putting it back together, be that installation of replacement parts or simply taking it down for cleaning and reassembling. Cleaning inner barrels should be routine maintenance (I’d argue regularly cleaning your barrel is the best upgrade to accuracy you can get), and hop buckings are a consumable part. It’s easy work to do, so I’d definitely advise getting familiar with it.
  14. I feel like you’ve done everything folks tend to recommend so far in terms of throwing after market parts in a RIF, you’ve run it stock for a bit and found the things you’d want to improve. Given it’s a bit more range you’re looking for I’d be looking at swapping out your inner barrel (which will bump the FPS a little), bucking and hop nub. Prometheus 6.03 tend to be the favoured inner barrels (readily available, not the cheapest... but also not the most expensive), as far as buckings and nubs go the general go to options seem to be either Prometheus or Firefly. As you’ve noted in your post, you’re ultimately just looking to be able to lift heavier ammo. Caveat that if you wanted to keep it a bit more budget you don’t ‘need’ to swap the barrel. I just habitually swap out stock barrels when I swap out buckings/nubs because I’ve already got it taken apart. Popping a beefier spring in there is also worth considering. Though worth noting this will likely increase the strain on stock parts (which may well start the train of additional things needing to be swapped after time) and won’t actually do much/anything for your range it’ll just mean the BBs get where they’re going quicker.
  15. That's one more stock VSR than I've seen in 15 years of being in/around the hobby 😅
  16. I don’t speak from experience, but I think the larger point of consideration is more the overall cost of choosing a platform versus the cost of the RIFs themselves when it comes to GBBRs. Cost and availability of spares/replacements/upgrade parts will always be a consideration either way but mags are ultimately baked into your start up cost. Having looked into a few AK based GBBRs (primarily looking at 105s and 74SUs) it seems many would still recommend swapping out the hop unit on GHKs as they’re a weak point of the stock system. Either way once you throw in mags the overall initial price difference is likely enough to at least pause for thought on the route to take. A big benefit of GHKs (externals aside) is the ability to DH mod the mags, which despite the benefits does make already expensive mags even more expensive. TLDR - I suspect the only way you’d see the true price difference would be to price up your ‘end game’ shopping lists and compare from there. I suspect you’ll struggled to land on a fair price comparison until you’ve established that. P.S. Despite doing a heap a research in the past I don’t have an answer to the receiver question, but I imagine someone will.
  17. Eh, I'm assuming the initial sentiment from @Druid799 was more aimed toward a TM NGRS rather than a Prommy NGRS. The biggest element of the equation being QC (whether it's a stock RIF or one with aftermarket bits in it), generally speaking experience would tell me TM QC is superior to mostly everyone elses so assuming you're running it with the recommended amount of juice and the like I think I agree with the initial statement... but as with anything airsoft there is a healthy degree of luck in there either way. I'm very much out of the loop on AEG things but I'd assume the main things that would die while an AEG is in storage would be electronics (lingering moisture) and o-rings (drying out)?
  18. Aye, more than happy to throw a decent chunk of change at my RIFs which see regular use. But having that much cash sunk into an SRS just left me feeling like I had to use it as much as possible, something made significantly harder by the fact there is a limited number of woodland sites that I'd consider local... some of which are only open half the year. Once I've got my ZenitCo'd up AK74SU sorted I dare say I'm done with buying anything RIF wise for the foreseeable future, words I'm sure I'll live to regret but very much content for the time being.
  19. Very much given up on being 'all in' on sniping, but I wanted to have a cheaper boltie on deck that I don't feel guilty if I don't use it for months... but have it there when the urge comes calling.
  20. A few boring bits to throw in the VSR, some pouches for my TRMRs (and patch) from Andy at TacBelts, an additional Spiritus pistol mag sleeve and AXL Microfight Hi-top Zipper to finish off the CQB chest rig. Initial plan is to plug this into the AirLite harness, but that’ll depend on whether I can be arse swapping out hardware. Also have a Ferro Mini Dangler on the way which is super exciting as the final piece of the puzzle in a few of my load bearing setups.
  21. By tariffs I'm assuming you mean the customs charges? Assuming that's the case it's even more puzzling, given I paid them a week or so ago 🤣.
  22. Does anyone have any experience of bringing ZenitCo parts in over here? Mainly looking for experiences from the handful of sites that seem to offer parts shipped to here. On the verge of giving up the shit show that is the various HK companies I've tried to order repros from and just get the real deal but would love some more info if folks have it.

Thank you kindly, along side some other miscellaneous things I'm looking at bringing a B11-u and B19-n handguard/top rail over. Is that likely to serve up any potential issue? Other items include a vert grip & extended bolt handle, but of the bunch the rails are the ones I could see potentially being problematic. And ta for tip off in regard to avoiding Russian post if at all possible.

None of those parts are controlled IIRC so I can't forsee any issues on paper - but sometimes things don't go that way! but tbh i've not done it myself so can't comment any further. Though FWIW I've been buying... a fair amount..recently in prep to "return to skirmishing" and aliexpress and redwolf have been excellent, wrt the latter I paid $4 shipping and it arrived in just under 2 weeks. ymmv

Aye, always an element of risk on a case by case basis when ordering outside the UK. I've currently got an order sitting with Asia Airsoft (not a company I've ordered from before) on the basis they had everything I've was after 'in stock'. Given it's been sat on 'Sender is preparing item for posting' for the last 2 weeks I strongly suspect them being in stock is not the case. I've contacted them and been told 'Our colleague is packing them now' (or words to that effect twice.

I've followed up requesting an accurate update, if they fail to do so I've given up chasing a refund from them and I'll just go through PayPal. So largely just looking at the options at this point.

  23. Shown off late last year if memory serves, not out yet though. And given the route the MWS took between being announced and launched lord knows when it’ll be available.
  24. The fact they don’t is possibly largely the reason they’ve been so stable and maintained such a good reputation throughout. Involving others tends to lead to having to adjust things, it’s seems that they’ve got their production triangle (quality, time and cost... you can only pick two that you want, something always has to give) set in terms of quality and cost being their choices. They’re more than happy to concede time to ensure their products release at a consistent quality and I imagine with consistent costs. Once others become involved that risks being upset, which I’d estimate simply isn’t worth it. If it ain’t broke... Edit: The general concept of production triangles is pretty dated nowadays, but the principles are still pretty applicable.
  25. Largely bolts on to what @Crazy_Crystal said. Weighing up the costs of R&D and production with the demand, Marui only care about the Japanese market. If the various AR iterations of the MWS continue to sell like hot cakes there isn't much of a need for them to deviate and start pumping those sunk costs into something similar. I'm honestly surpised the AK appeared as quickly as it did, which might sound like madness given the gap between the AR MWS coming out and the announcement of the AK. Such a weirdly unique company, many get burned at the stake because they don't ship to certain countries while Marui trudge along as if the rest of the world literally doesn't exist. Side note, that's not to say I wouldn't love to see other variants... just can't see it happening any time soon.
