Heard back from Mark at FMJUK, he should have started spraying the M14 parts. E110 is oven-cure so shouldn’t be long before I can reassemble. I bagged up screws and such for each step of disassembly separately so it should be fairly easy to pop it all back together. Still, although it’s not my first rodeo, I’ve printed out the TM exploded view to have at hand. Might redo the cables while I’m at it. I’m not expecting extra pew, it’s already wired for a Gate, so it’s just 2.4mm tab to deans but it’s not the tidiest job. Let’s see how much it nags at me before the receiver comes back!

Ah, gotcha! I had a bit of a moment with one of the screws... filling the mag in question with Black gas, the thread on the screw gave out, firing the mag base off and shearing the nozzle on the gas bottle! Gave me a proper fright I think three of them have the Guarder screws, 2 are random.

The first three I bought all had issues where a BB would stick just under where the bottom of the lip sits on the right hand side (looking from front). In the end, the opening of the feedlip was a hair narrower than the mag. This time around, random nobrand feedlip showed no such issue. I’ll do the other one when I get a chance to park my arse at my bench later. What do you mean by the scree? Am I being a bit thick?

One mag down, one to go. No feeding issues this time. The new follower springs are much stiffer than my old ones. Frustratingly, couldn’t chrono anything as I took my chrono home to set up in my new garage!

Got a heads up from work that more parts had arrived. Yes, it’s more of the Guarder Magazine bodies I’ve moaned about before but now that I’ve worked out where to file the feed lips, they shouldn’t be a chore this time. Very lightweight magazine. 130g saving a time and five on me means 650g lighter than what I would have been carrying!

Doesn’t hurt to ask. He’s a very welcoming chap to talk to. The only thing you’ll need to give him is a letter to explain that the RIF in question is for collection/skirmishing purposes and you stand to make no financial gain reproducing someone’s trades etc. I don’t blame him for being thorough covering his back!

I’d try the hammer spring first. One cludgy way of adding tension to the hammer spring if it’s light striking is to place a BB under the hammer spring in the MSH. Certainly quickly rules out light striking

This being Airsoft, nothings quite that simple! The compensators for the Hi-capa style stuff require a specific outer barrel that will accept a comp. those same barrels will not accept a threaded adapter for tracers or silencers. Looking into the minefield of options, I thought it was just easier to get a complete set (barrel+comp) from Mike at Elite. Im happy with the purchase though, totally pointless as it may be, I think it looks cool and it differentiates the gun further from my spattering of Hi-Capas

That’s the way. They’re a right bastard when you’re getting the thumb safety back on... You’ll need a small Allen key or flat head to compress the pin in as you rotate the safety. Slip and it’s off to another dimension somewhere in your carpet!

I’d be tempted to put a smudge of silicone grease around the hop rubber inside of the hop unit to prevent any potential leaks. Less is more on the grease. Could be the gas routers not quite contacting the nozzle as Hamster mentioned earlier. I’ve got a couple of Novristch ones spare you’re welcome to if you want to test that? Ali

Got that compensator from Elite. The rather plain jane Infinity build is really growing on me.

Collecting the freshly engraved receiver in the morning. After dropping off my bits, one of the Oxford Colleges dropped a huge job in the engraver's lap so it's taken a bit longer than normal. Not fussed, not going to be playing for a while! Can't wait to see how it's come out. Next step will be Cerakote.

Bit of a noob error with the new BBU. The gun was double feeding after the first shot, with the next rolling out of the barrel. I've removed the 120% recoil spring and stuck a stock one back in and its problem solved. I assume the slide/nozzle was returning with too much force and pushing the BB too far into the hop bucking with the 120% spring. Also, due to absolute boredom, got in touch with Mike at Elite about STI logos. ended up buying a Chris Custom Compensator...
