  1. Is Newbury in the dreaded tier 4 for now?
  2. Good morning good sirs, Now that I’ve sated myself for now with Hi-Capas, it’s time to have a closer look at something I started last year. I wanted a DMR, people had started bringing semi-auto 450fps stuff to the field and I wanted something that actually felt and looked as if it could justify that role. The final straw was when chronoing in at Finmere, a new face boldly stated that his short-barrelled M4 derivative with an enormous scope was a DeE EmM ArRrR. That night I bought a Cyma M14 as a base. Internally it’s all sorted. A few key internal switcharoos and a bit of TLC has given a stable output of c.435 with hop set for 0.4’s. The stock hides a Gate mosfet, the selector plate has been removed so the cut off lever cannot be lifted. The hop unit has been switched out for a TM, rubber and nub with the obligatory Maple leaf. I replaced the feed springs in some Cyma mid caps to make sure I had reliable, rattle-free mags and that’s the boring bit out of the way. Externally is where I want a few pointers. Ive already replaced the Cyma stock with a Wooden jobby. The original finish was ‘orrid so it’s been sanded, stained and sealed with OSMO, a beeswax based finish. I’ve stuck a RIS top cover on there and a nice Hawke 3-9x50AO scope on there. Here’s where the question lies. What to do to next. Ive gotten in touch with a local engraver to get some trademarks on the receiver. The Cyma has a printed serial number on the receiver but no actual trades, that’s got to change. I think I’ve settled on Winchester trades, a peculiar and scarce manufacturing run of RS M14’s. I’ve popped a picture of the markings. If anyone knows of anything even more obscure, I’m open to suggestions. The other area that I need a hand with is finish. The Cyma paint is crap and there are seam lines on almost all of the cast metal bits. I’ll be doing some sanding and finishing before it all goes over to Mark at FMJUK for a Cerakote finish. I’m hovering over E110 Midnight to try and get that parkerised look. Am I looking at totally the wrong colour? Will I just end up with a blue M14? I’m really hesitant to just go with Graphite Black as I want a bit of flair. What’s the opinion on best Cerakote for a M14? These threads are useless without pictures so I’ll make sure to take some when I’m back in work on Monday Ali
  3. Out of curiosity, have you run a longer inner barrel to use the Hi-Capa as a DMR style platform?
  4. Mag baseplate bolt on order from Fire-Support. That makes 5 mags in total now I’ve got 5 AIP STI style base plates on the way, they fit the TM style mag bottoms and secure with a grub screw. They’re aluminium and cheap enough that if I have to go at them with a file to get them to fit it’s a bit of a non issue. Looking forwards to trying the Notritsch out at the Zed adventures forum meet up.
  5. Made 4 working mags out of all the bits that I had ordered. 3 are full fat Guarder Aluminium housings, TM lips, 9B router, Guarder inlet and base and Guarder outlet valve. STI trades on the back and look/feel pretty swish 1 is a kitbash of the least shitty leftovers. Novristch routers are NOT authentic 9B for anyone following, they’re just purple... At least they aren’t proprietary! New issue with the posh mags is that the random bumpers I’ve got don’t all fit. Has anyone got any views on the CCT ones? Edit: 5 mags if I can find a bolt long enough to hold a magazine base in place
  6. Agreed. It was just the first thing to hand and it wasn’t very “airsofty” It’s what happens, fiddling away building guns inside of a Hi-Fi shop!
  7. Ignore the backdrop, area where we do 2nd hand photography is a state at the moment so it’s a back-room bodge! This was a Novristch SSP1 with a slide lock that would fall out (hilarious on the field) a thumb safety that would engage randomly (also hilarious on the field) and a slide that would rattle about so much that you could mistake the gun for a half full high capacity magazine. Now it’s a swish Tungsten-grey gnu with a handle on the side for faster pewing. I name it the Notritsch
  8. Received and reassembled, the SSP1 is unrecognisable. As was predicted at the beginning, it’s a proper Trigger’s broom. I present the Notritsch
  9. Sort of as expected... Guarder Aluminium mag housings turned up. Random feed lips and routers don’t quite seal and one baseplate isn’t having it at all. Guarder mag bottoms, TM feed lips and DP routers enroute to hopefully ensure better fitting.
  10. Just heard from Mark at FMJUK that he’s finished the Tungsten coat and the slide + frame should be in the post tomorrow. I’m hoping that the Novristch logo isn’t visible under that extremely expensive paint!
  11. Bit of a WIP, Airsoft Masterpiece Speedcat HiCapa build. Still sorting the kinks and need to stick a front sight in there
  12. Quick phone call to Mike at Elite and the Limcat one is working. Had to bend the middle stirrup of the leaf spring outward slightly and the right hand stirrup inward slightly. It’s probably not yet perfect but it’s getting close. I changed my mind on the colour of Cerakote for the Novristch, it’s going to be Tungsten now
  13. Here’s the accidental Hi-Capa, sexy as hell but currently non functional
  14. Right, chucked together the accidental Hi-Capa and it’s being a twat. No trigger/intermittent full auto any ideas? edit: accidental hicapa is Limcat slide, TM frame. Leaf spring is Elite, hammer is CCT, recoil spring is 140% as is hammer spring. Put a frame protector on the end of the slide. chances are I’ve been a knob when I put it together. Any pointers?
  15. I'm hoping that will not be an issue. Would be an amusing one though if it is, as all three mags would suffer from it! Only time will tell... I also settled on a way of hiding my shame and covering up the Novritsch logo. I'm hoping to have the parts back next week from Mark @ FMJ UK cerakoting. I've gone for matt Satin Aluminium which I think should contrast well with the grip and pair nicely with all the chrome shite I've plopped onto it
  16. Experiment time: I've got three mags in various states of distress with varying output powers and varying amounts of shots. I've bought: 3x Guarder aluminium mag housings 3x Guarder outlet valves Hopefully the baseplates end up being interchangeable but ideally the mags will all share the same power, efficacy and cooldown characteristics I suspect that not everything will go as planned
  17. Got one of those lovely Airsoft Masterpiece Speedcat slides in grey on the way for the second Hi-Capa that got built by accident...
  18. Exact same experience, tested with my DMR and split the smoked lens in two. I've gone back to mesh, as a sweaty betty - can't beat mesh
  19. For future purchases - if you find a mid cap you like the look of, try replacing the spring with a Maple Airsoft one. I’ve picked them up from Fire Support and they’ve turned nice-looking but fundamentally useless mid caps into usable mags that push 0.4’s without issue Edit- in the spirit of the thread Maple Leaf Hi-Capa hop unit Maple leaf Autobot 60 silicone Cyber gun M1A1 drum mag
  20. Confusing.... Chronoing with black gas Army mag - 340-350fps No brand mag - 330-340fps Novristch mag - 330-410fps! I've got a TM mag on order to try that out before doing anything too drastic. Does anyone know if the Nov/KJ mags will accept a TM style outlet valve or are they effing proprietary too!!!
  21. I'm going to have to hurry up and get a decent lacquer coat on the carbon fibre furniture on my Tommy before then!
  22. Blimey, maybe the next one then Stupid question time, I haven't been to the Zed site yet. Semi only? Pistols? What are you lot taking?
  23. Is there a limit to how new a member? I'd love to get to know a few of you and I'm only 10 miles or so from Newbury. I've been looking for an excuse to get my arse over there and it would be a good way destress after a house move.
  24. I’ve stuck an AIP recoil buffer in there now for good measure. I’m impressed at the decrease in cycling time but losing the lock back on empty is a bit of a bummer. Might stick to just the 140% recoil spring. On a side-note, are there any qualitative differences between mags? Might be a stupid question, don’t know. I wondered if there was a benefit in starting to migrate over to TM mags?
  25. I’ll give you heresy... M4’s aren’t safe either! I don’t think I’ve posted this since picking up one of the Leupold D-Evo sights. The magnifier is a bit of a pig to zero, but it’s a really cool concept.
