  1. Just took delivery of a custom kydex holster with L2 retention for my FNX 45. It’s fitted on a safariland qls fork so I can quickly swap it out on my belt.
  2. This isn’t the first thread on this, and I’ll try not to repeat everything I already said. The Marui is clearly a better shooter out of the box and has correct trademarks, but it is more expensive, has less parts support and is too small (this bothers some people more than others). The WE is cheaper and the correct size, there is an option to add trades at extra cost. It has decent aftermarket support. However it needs some work to shoot as well as the Marui. As a minimum the hop arm needs some filing and a new hop rubber is a good idea. Personally I have the WE and have been very happy with it once I did a few modifications.
  3. There are several clones of the Daniel Defence Mk 18 rail that will fit. 416 rails also need a different upper receiver otherwise the top rail won’t line up as the real steal version of the 416 is a piston gun so there is space at the top of the rail & receiver for the short stroke gas piston system.
  4. I just found one of my 45 rounders, for some reason I can’t find the other one. I can’t believe how much heavier they are than the 30 round ones. I agree it’s hard to justify the cost of the 30 round mags when functionally the 45 round ones work so well and are 2/3 of the price. Between my MP5s MWSs and my MP7 I shed a tear every time I begin to think how much money I have spent on GBB mags.
  5. Very nice, It is certainly the most iconic version. How many mags did you order, and did you end up going for the 45 or 30 round ones?
  6. Where is it coming from? Which version did you go for?
  7. I have both an SD and a regular front end (one with a full stock and one with the collaspable stock, so I can mix and match to have all 4 variants). Cant say I have had this problem with the hop on either of mine, and they are stock with just an aftermarket Hop Rubber.
  8. Best performance (for a GBB) the TM FNX45 is probably the best I have ever used. Most satisfying to use, in my opinion not so much (and yes I have a TM FNX 45).
  9. I use mine in regular skirmishes all the time. I actually really enjoy the challenge. Made me a much better player than I ever was with an AEG. I still do just as well in terms of kills.
  10. Just a note that you will need a decent number of mags to skirmish effectively. The general opinion is 6-7 mags is about right. I always run more, but I do love a bit of burst fire. A few run less and carry speed loaders, but the rattling puts me off going down that path.
  11. WE m4 based GBBRs work very well for skirmishing, so I wouldn’t worry about getting one at all. I had one for a while and only moved it on as I have 3 MWS, Just a couple of thoughts: 1. You will probably need an npas to regulate power as gas guns power can vary hugely depending on the weather and what gas you use. 2. The hop rubber is a little hard for U.K. power. 3. The semi-auto trigger sear is a bit prone to wear (but it takes several thousand rounds) it is relatively easy to fix, but might be worth getting a steel part eventually (google it there is a very good YouTube video on it.)

For sale is my Tokyo Marui 416c. It hasn’t seen much use as it was specifically bought for use at an indoor site that doesn’t allow GBBRs and has quite low FPS limits. Everywhere else I tend to use my MWS. The gun itself is totally standard (other than the battery connector being replaced with a deans) and has never been apart, there is a small amount of external paint wear mainly from extending the stock and on the top rail where some accessories were fitted. The gun comes with the original and one extra 30 round magazine (these are the ones where the battery fits in the magazine) and both magazines have a brand new Lipo in them. It also comes with a dummy PEQ15 which will take a battery if you want to use regular AEG Mags. 2 5c 1300 MAH batteries are included (one never used). As well as the original verticals grip which is included, also included is an angled fore grip which has been modified so it will fit right back against the magazine housing. Price is £355 firm (no offers) but does include shipping and PayPal fees. If you want to collect from Brentwood, Essex and pay cash on collection then the price is £330 firm.

  13. To be fair I have seen some VFC guns that do seem to have been well built. I think the biggest problem is the quality control and the broad spectrum of fit and finish that any given gun might have. They appear to range from close to Marui levels of internal fit and finish (other than the university wobbly selector switch) that have given years of trouble free service through to complete dogs that can’t get through a skirmish day despite having been sent back for warranty repairs several times. Thing is at that price, every one should be a gem when it’s actually a coin toss.
  14. The stock inner barrel is pretty good. The main reason to change is to go longer or tight bore (or both) to get more FPS. Note that some lesser quality tight bore barrels may bump FPS but at the cost of accuracy if the finish to the inner bore isn’t very uniform.
  15. Any chance we can see the back side of the holster so we can see what mounting holes it is drilled for?
  16. A lot of airsofters overlook rifle ergonomics in favour of more FPS or fancy sights when it’s an area where small changes can make a huge difference to your shooting. One of the big reasons all my GBB rifle builds use the same grip. I have found an angle that works for me so I use it all the time, nothing speeds target acquisition than having a rifle that naturally points where you are looking.
  17. yes, the 416c kit is calling me. Not only is it a barrel length I don’t have, but the kit is so complete that it shouldn’t be too hard to complete using all aftermarket parts.
  18. For my next project I want to build an MWS based HK416c using no TM parts, just after market bits. That one is going to have to wait a while though as it will be quite expensive.
  19. My latest build, a very minimalist light weight build especially for 2/3 gun competition shooting. 14 inch barrel, light weight 14 inch m-lox rail, locked to semi, shooting about 430 fps. And a family photo with my mk12 DMR and my mk 18.
  20. If we all take this approach then there won’t be any airsoft retailers left once lockdown is over. I justify my needless spending on the basis I am helping the hobby survive one of its darkest hours. we all need to do our bit and keep buying random shit we don’t need....
  21. Nope, mine is box stock other than an npas and an aftermarket hop rubber (can’t remember which one now). Still shoots fine. Personally I’d get the sliding stock version, looks so much cooler..... The collectors edition mags are a must have in my view. More realistic curve and no line of bbs down the front to spoil the look, but at £70 each they are really pricy.
  22. I have a WE mp5 and a WE Mp7 GBB. Love them both. Although the MP5 is my favourite just because it is so iconic. However neither of them really get skirmished because the MWS is so good in virtually every scenario it’s just easier to pick that up, plus all my gear is fitted with 5.56 pouches and it is a PITA to switch to SMG pouches. The Marui MP7 is great out of the box performs really well, is pretty accurate, and is reasonably durable, but I couldn’t get over the fact that it is about 10% under size, which is noticeable if you compare them. In addition the Marui MP7 is the only gun I am aware of where it’s WE equivalent has better aftermarket parts support. The sensible answer is probably not to buy either and just get a few more mags for the MWS, however where is the fun in that... Of the two you have chosen I would go for the MP5. Parts available is better and the FPS can be sorted easily and cheaply with an npas.
  23. I think it’s really hard to put a generalisation on this as the military covers a wide range of humanity. I have played with some ex soldiers who have the slickest skills and drills I have ever seen, equally I have played with serving soldiers who were not in infantry/combat roles that couldn’t have been less ‘slick’ if they had been trying to handle their weapon in boxing gloves. By the same note I have met loads of ex military who are really unassuming easy going guys who are happy to share their skills and experience with anyone in the safe zone or even mid skirmish and really do elevate the sport. By the same note I have met a few nobbers that think they are in charge and start using hand signals or shouting out fire control orders and getting really pissed when people don’t “follow orders” (without ever thinking that the kid they are screaming at probably doesn’t even know what a target indication is let alone how to follow it). The one thing that I do find slightly amusing with soldiers that have only just started airsoft is that during basic infantry training the difference between cover from view and cover from fire is really drummed in to you and in airsoft the situation is almost totally opposite and that is really counter intuitive to them at first. My favourite example of this was at Dragon Valley in Wales 20 odd years ago when 4 guys I was with (2 serving paras and 2 recent ex paras) did probably the slickest room clearance I had ever seen at the time (I was a TA infantry soldier at the time) and got wasted by a kid with a Glock 18 who had been hiding in a wardrobe. They took it reasonably well, but there was a bit of eye rolling an muttering as they walked back to respawn.
  24. My cold weather backup is a can of Nuprol 4.0. The MWS runs brilliantly on black gas on stock internals in the cold. If it’s too cold for the MWS to work well on black gas then it’s too cold for me to want to play.....
  25. It was a complete lower receiver only, as I already have a spare upper. I got a decent price. If you count what I paid for the upper when I bought it (minus the new rail etc I put on it) it was still a decent chunk cheeper than I could have bought a second hand MWS for. I thought about using epoxy but I’m too impatient to wait for it to dry properly so I spoke to a mate who specialises in welding aluminium and filled it with a spot of weld. Some careful grinding back with a dremel and it’s virtually invisible. I will reinstate the rotation pins as the damage to the upper has been done and this lower Is for my 2/3 gun competition rifle so it suits that civilian AR look, but I wouldn’t have bothered otherwise. It just reduces the resale value.
