  1. Long time! How are we all doing? Purely in terms of springs (I'm using the stock bolt), what do we think the formula for best gas efficiency (ie not ROF or trigger speed of semi shots). I'm not entirely convinced a stronger recoil spring is the way to go, so was going to short-stroke the stock one. However what's the function of the nozzle spring? Or rather, how would it affect gas usage?
  2. I can't remember, what's the reason we can't delete old ads?
  3. I'm just glad we have real Gunsmiths like him, to show those amateurs at Tokyo Marui, the right way to build a plastic pistol.
  4. I don't comment much on here anymore but as someone who's built and sold many Glocks at a massive loss, this did leave me chuckling at the gall of this ad. His breakdown of costs actually includes a £65 labour charge (that he's invoiced himself!?). Then he's asking for the total new price + "labour" + £20 postage. Why didn't I think of this when I sold this one which had a Guarder aluminium slide, steel outer barrel, nylon fibre frame, metal piston head, 150% recoil spring, uprated hammer spring, Flamingo bucking and Guarder lightweight mag for £175 posted!? ? Also don't get me wrong, the Gen.3 is still a solid platform but if he wants even half of what he's asking (plus billing this as a "sleeper build"), then he really should have based it on a Gen.4. Possibly he's not bothered about selling it, which is good because the chances of it going for anymore than about a third of what he's asking, are slim.
  5. Quite a few guns, the AAP-01 being a prime example need the hop set in order to feed well. I would fully expect an AAP with no hop applied to just roll BB's out of the barrel. There are so many people who've sent their AAP's back as not working due to this, that many websites now clearly state it. Also bear in mind that it's now the kind of temperature outside, that gas pistol performance is going to be significantly affected by prolonged use.
  6. I haven't had one of their pistols, but I purchased a Glock 19 & Glock 17 mag made by them and neither would fit in my TM G19 Gen.3 or TM G17 Gen.4. The grooves weren't wide enough for the TM mag release. Weirdly the 17 mag fitted fine in my TM G17 Gen.3. Overall the quality of it was lower than TM or even WE. I would say the closest comparison would be Army Armament. Also, my understanding is that it's mostly the RIF's purchased from Asia that have trades and the ones with UK retailers, don't. I could of course be mistaken by that.
  7. 15c is certainly getting on the cooler side for GBB's, especially if you're out all-day using it. Initially it sounds like it's just that bit too cold for the gas to bring the bolt back far enough to load a BB. The big drop in power also demonstrates it's suffering negative affects of the ambient temperature.
  8. a possible culprit and easiest check would be the hop rubber and nub - ie make sure they're intact and fitted correctly.
  9. I've been both solo and with others. The only real difference is having a bit of a chat before the game. There's no formation or even team tactics once you're out there, so you often lose sight of the people you've come with anyway.
  10. You appear to be missing a barrel ? Can you get pics of the inside of your slide and frame?
  11. This is what I Loved about my TM MP7, it never even vented the smallest amount.
  12. So you fell like a double-mug when they don't call it? ?
  13. I know it's better to be "blind" than blinded, but I'm being quoted North of £250 for glazing my new prescription inserts......gahhh.

Specsavers do my revision inserts for about £70, £250 sounds incredibly high.

  14. @Haru - I only accept shots to the centre of my plate carrier, anything else and I'm going to call you out for malicious cheating.
  15. I think you're vastly over-estimating the accuracy of airsofters and their guns. I bring my crosshair somewhat over the often moving player and when I pull the trigger, a small plastic sphere weighing only around a quarter of a gram is pushed through a non-rifled barrel. This projectile hopefully makes contact with any part of my opponents body or equipment, sometimes I'm even evil enough to pull the trigger a couple of times on top, just to increase my chances.
  16. I think these will be a bit more appealing when they release a full range of accessories (like a quick detach holster). Also would be cool to see a whole-host of aftermarket parts, akin to the AAP-01.
  17. I'm not Googling it, but "Brocock" can't be a real airsoft brand...
  18. Yeah, I wasn't quite surely what it was when I saw/heard the blank firer as it's not like the Marshals pre-warned anyone and it was just a regular open skirmish day. The Marshal had a word with the guy and I didn't hear it for the rest of the time I was there, but seems the answer to my question was "No...unless you're a regular" Seems us sensible lot will have to sit around in the "safe zone" with full eye and hearing protection.
  19. I can't remember the spring but with a tightbore barrel it was pretty spot-on 2.2J (circa 315fps with a 0.48g), the widebore dropped that to something like 1.5J. Luke's mentioned a few times that it's the longest ranged rifle he's ever built (although that may have changed by now). I regret selling it but he's since done me an MBR556 (cue the "not a DMR calibre!" crowd) which is nice and consistent at 1.85J on 0.36g's and much easier to shoulder. That's with the stock hop unit, Maple Leaf 70 rubber, black macaron nub and 455mm ZCl 6.02mm barrel.
  20. Luke/Negative Airsoft built me a G&G GR25 DMR using a Maxx hop unit and 6.15mm widebore Orga barrel. It dropped the power significantly, but the range was seriously epic. This is airsoft though, so there's never going to be one definitive universal answer.
  21. It's not about ratting out the site, because this kind of thing has happened at most of the ones I've been too. I'm the General Manager of my company, so have no problem confronting people, but would rather switch off at airsoft. I was in the toilet in the safe zone at one site, come out and someone full-autos the toilet door, about 20cm from my unprotected eyes. I approach the young teen group responsible and tell them where they've gone wrong, making sure they remove mags and clear the chambers in a safe direction. However I reported this to the site owner and he stopped me mid-game to find these kids. I'm the one who ended up feeling guilty. Shout-out to South Coast CQB, who were so diligent that they questioned why I was in the staging area between games. I'd rather be watched too closely, than not at all.
  22. I really like this site overall but their teenage Marshalls seem incapable of enforcing rules. Even at chrono they're like "1.2J, LOL alright Mate. Just don't get too close to other players"
  23. Two examples from my most recent skirmish (Sunday just gone): 1) Player using a blank firing pistol (not sure why). Deafening for those without hearing protection...which seems necessary even in woodland games now. 2) Players with their own zip ties discussing which colour chrono is using this week....they decided they didn't need to bother going through the official procedure, as their gun was "definitely under" Both of the above seemed to be by "regulars" I know this as when I enquired with a Marshall as to whether blank firing pistols were allowed, the response was "Errrrr....I know who it is, they're a regular' So at which point am I just defending myself/others and where does it cross the line to "tell-tale" territory?
  24. She should replace one of the existing lyrics with this example, because "rain on your wedding day" isn't irony.
  25. Delete this! Haha...I used to pick up some gems, now everything is snapped-up in seconds.
