  1. Thanks for the reply. But it would have been useful if you could have given your reason. Because it's a gimmick and unnecessary? Or Because it is a bad product? I am still in the dark.
  2. Are you supposed to completely fill a mag with Abbey Maintenance gas or just put in a one second squirt? Is it OK to fire it off the normal way ( using the trigger ) or are you supposed to expel it by pushing the striker valve?
  3. Thanks for the tip. So did you just spray over the original coating or sand down to the bare metal first?
  4. Yes, they appear to be long overdue for a restock of many popular items.
  5. Good prices on WE pistols at Elite Airsoft UK .com. Are they a UK or continental retailer? Are they reliable and recommended?
  6. I do rather like that version of the Aug.
  7. General rule for airguns is two thirds of original price if mint. Less if signs of use. I hhave always stuck by this and had bno problems selling thi gs over the years. Of course you lose a lot of money doing this but why should others be expected to pay for your mistakes. Buying second hand always involves a risk and this should be factored in where pricing is concerned. The important thing is to buy wisely and keep the stuff you buy. One day I might get the hang of it.😁
  8. This gun has obviously not been agood seller. OKit isnot a replica of anything.. And the looks are Marmite. But there must be more to it than that I am thinking. I mean a one hundred quid gun with rwo extra mags for £89. I have seen worse looking pistols and have been sorely tempted. But it just seems too good to be true. What is the catch?
  9. Yes, I was tempted by that. I could live with the looks of the gun but it must not have caught on for a reason. Pooor hop up? Leaky mags? Poor availability of parts? Not TM compatable? I have no idea. Can anyone on here speak from experience?
  10. You would be better just buying a proper scope if magnification is what you are after. Cheap, low magnification scopes with parallax set to airgun ranges (30-35 yards) are widely available. And if you are using them at between x2 and x4, there will be no parallax error to talk of. If you need long eye relief for a scope mounted near the muzzle, get an air pistol one. Just make sure you get some picatinny scope rings for it - not the normal airgun 11mm ones. Sometimes they are included with the scope. You won't get the red dot of course, but that is of limited value in airsoft. Provided there is a reticule or some other sort of mark visible in the centre of the scope you will know where to aim. In fact for airsoft accuracy you don't even need a mark. Provided you have reasonable eye alignment, you shoot when the target is more or less in the middle of the sight picture. A red dot is probably just as effective with the dot turned off. It is just faster to access and use than iron sights. Why have two bulky items on your gun when one will do. They may look good but are just unnecessary weight IMHO.
  11. There doesn't even seem to be a professional course in gunsmithing in this country. People either learn in the Army Ordnance Corps, get a job in a gunshop and pick it up as they go along, or come to it from things like tool making etc. Those people with a mechanical engineering background who know how to use lathes etc, are half way there. Becoming an airsoft tech shouldn't take too long if you have the aptitude and know how to use a dremel and soldering iron. I imagine you have to find a good airsoft tech and start by watching him work and helping him out with the simpler things. I doubt you would be paid for it. But if I were keen to become a tech I wouldn't mind putting in some time in the evenings and at the weekends for free.
  12. G&G GC16 300 BOT for £203. It's a full metal short barrelled, front railed M4 with crane stock, and basic combat machine internals. I bought it for the exterior. Which is nice.
  13. Very nice. What make is the drum mag?
  14. Cheap hard case for a carbine. https://www.sportsmanguncentre.co.uk/sgc-reliance-shotgun-abs-case
  15. Couple of metal hicap LCT AK mags arrived today. Very nice external quality. Hoping they work as good as they look.
  16. What an idiot I am. Sorry to have bothered you and wasted your time. The fault was entirely mine. Replacing the battery cover on some AKs can be a tricky job at first, and I hadn't done it properly. Now I have finally got the knack of it. The gun is fine and I have apologised to the retailer for my email describing the "fault". My fault.😁 The gun is fine and as far as the exterior is concerned it really is a bargain for the money. Thanks for the support.
  17. Well, my stuff arrived, but the gun has a fault. It's an LCT AK74 UN. The battery cover/receiver top is out of alignment with the lower. This creates a very noticeable and unsightly gap between the two increasing in size towards the rear. It looks to me like some of the internals are not properly in place and are preventing the upper from fully closing. I got home this evening and unpacked the order. I have given the gun a quick inspection, but have not used it or tampered with it. It either came that way or something happened in transit. My guess is the former. I emailed the retailer with the news this evening and told him I would be phoning tomorrow morning. Always interesting to see how retailers respond to something like this. I'm not accepting it though and I want it replacing, not fixing. Fortunately I paid by credit card. Barring the fault, the gun looks nice and solid. My only criticisms are the poor quality of the pistol grip, and the cheap feel of the mag - as far as I can tell its a 70 round one, which ain't much use to me. I will order a couple of steel hicaps and look for a better grip. The gun comes with an LCT catalogue and the usual silly safety warning cartoons, but no instruction booklet. If it hadn't been faulty, I would have been very happy with it.
  18. I think I know the urban camo you are referring to. And if so, I agree. I don't like it either. In fact it is horrible. But the urban digital camo I am thinking of is a different thing entirely: http://www.military1st.co.uk/f545025060-propper-uniform-bdu-coat-polycotton-ripstop-subdued-urban-digital.html
  19. I've just received most of the items for my modest cqb load-out from Military 1st: a Condor Battle Belt (large), Condor Duty Belt as the inner belt, and a Condor kangaroo AK pouch with space for two AK mags and two pistol mags and a couple of extra 6" molle straps for the pouch, which only has two. All in coyote tan as it seems to go with most things. Now I just need the Nuprol molle attachment for my holster and I'm ready to go. In the post for arrival tomorrow or Thursday are my LCT AK74 un, a CA scope mount, foregrip, mag spacer (just in case) and a couple of bottles of bbs from Fire Support, and a spare AW hicap mag, some Abbey silicone products, and a small SRC hard case for carbines from somewhere else.. I wish I hadn't bought the blue Armorer Works pistol but it handles well enough and I already have a holster for it, so I will have to stick with it for the near future. I would have preferred a CZ P09 or TM Sig 226 E, but that will have to wait. Still have to get my charger and batteries, a sling, and some extra AK mags. I don't know whether the gun will be coming with hicap or midcap. If the former I will buy three midcaps. If the latter then one hicap and two midcaps. LCT plastic mags are pretty cheap. I've got Blaster bbs in .20, .25 and .30. I also want to try .28. Could anybody recommend a decent make for these as ASG only do the Blaster Devils in this calibre and they are expensive and probably not worth it. In future I will be looking for some plain colour tactical pants and a camo shirt - urban camo, Polish woodland or Belgian woodland. Not sure yet, and haven't got the funds.
  20. Are their sales bargains genuine. Some of their prices are brilliant. They do very good deals on KJW gbb pistols for example.
  21. Thanks very much for the suggestions. I'll look into them all.
  22. I'm in the same position. Some might say I don't need boots at all since I am only playing CQB indoors. However I still need ankle protection. My right foot and ankle have been weak ever since I had spinal surgery over twenty years ago. What I don't want is boots that that have huge heels, with little flex in the soles, and weigh a ton. I don't care if they wear out quickly. If they are cheap enough, soft enough, and can be bent easily at the sole with your hands, they can be replaced as necessary. So what I am looking for is something that looks like a boot and laces well above the ankle, but isn't really designed for hard conditions - an imitation boot if you like. 😄 Or trainers that run high up the calf. Anybody got any ideas?
