Received wisdom is the it is better to lock the slide back before inserting a full magazine, to avoid the fully compressed spring under the top bb from putting strain on the blow back nozzle. I have tended to do this, although I know that many don't. However I have never used my pistols for skirmishing or competition shooting. This means I have rarely ever filled my magazines to anything like their full capacity of bbs. I normally put only about 10 or 12 bbs in magazines that will take 25+. So do I really need to lock back the slide before inserting magazines which only contain half or even a third of their full capacity of bbs?

My wife posted a gbb pistol for me today. Unfortunately I forgot to tell her to use Parcel Force, and she sent it as a toy with Royal Mail 1st Class. What are the chances of it getting seized and destroyed? Slim I hope.

Never skirmished. None of my pistols have ever been skirmished. Only ever test fired in my back garden last summer, so it is in excellent condition and really looks new. There are a couple of small marks on the outer barrel and recoil rod, but this is unavoidable and they are not normally visible. The gun has decent accuracy and great blowback and comes boxed with owners booklet. I think the WE Sig looks nicer than the KJW and it is one of WE's better regarded pistols. I bought it with the E2 grips and it looks good with them. However they felt a little creaky so I replaced them with the original style full grips by Guarder which are made of very good nylon reinforced polymer and have Sig trades. Guarder also make their custom E2 grips but I went for the originals because with screws on both sides they feel extremely solid. Might be worth trying the Guarder E2 grips as the polymer is superior to the WE ones. Unlike the TM and KJW versions of the Sig P226 which have different spring housings for the original and E2 versions, the WE uses a frame arrangement that will accept both E2 grips and the thicker ones. Grips are interchangeable. Unfortunately, I forgot to photograph the magazine, but I can supply a photo if necessary. It is one of the new type magazines and is mint. I like the gun very much, but hardly ever use my airsoft pistols any more, so I need to thin out the collection. They are more or less ornaments these days. Available for £75 collected, plus £10 if posted. UKARA required.£75

Now that you have acquired a TM HK45 what do you think of it? How does it compare to the FNX45?

Black Cow Cow sculptor grips with all TM internals - mag release, hammer spring, trigger bow, silver grip screws (but not the one that connects the bottom of the frame to the trigger guard) with a choice of black Edge triggers, and black magwells. I bought grip tape but it is only comfortable if you wear gloves. So I used the tape as a template and bought self adhesive rubber sheet to cover the grips. I'm not saying I did a professional job, but it would be good enough for most people. The tape is removable without residue, and I rather like the grips without tape. Included with each grip is a Cow Cow grip tape, in case you want to change the rubber or use it as a template to make your own rubber grip tape. Both trigger blades are Airsoft Masterpiece Edge bought from Hi Capa Hub. There is tiny mark on the straight one but you wouldn't really notice it. The large magwell and gloss low profile one are also Airsoft Masterpiece. The matt low profile is 5KU from Hi Capa Hub but is of good quality since it is made in the same factory the Airsoft Masterpiece magwell. Both low profile magwells have lanyard holes at the back. They have seen very little use, and have never been skirmished. I kept changing my mind about what grips to put on my two hi capas, but finally decided to keep the Guarder tactical ones. 35 pounds each plus 2 pounds if posted. Choice of any one of the three magwells.£35

I bought a couple. They are cheap enough. Sadly I had the same experience as most other users. Using one or two together on a can of Abbey 144a, the gas spewed out everywhere. Not a drop went in the magazine. I ended up buying a can of Nuprol 1.0 Blue to fill my TM FNX 45 mag. No need for any extensions on the Nuprol nozzle. I may try making my own extension with synthetic tubing and see if that works, as I have quite a lot of 144a.

Tokyo Marui M92f Phrobis “Dolphin” kit identification
emilianoksa replied to JimFromHorsham's topic in Gas Guns
Thanks very much for clearing that up for me. I have often thought of buying one of the earlier TM Beretta 92s, as opposed to the later M9A1 and M9 models, simply because there was a metal kit for it. Was it a pain to install the Guarder kit? I imagine the bbu would have had to be filed to get it to fit the Guarder slide. Anything else I should be aware of? -

I thought Guarder only made kits for the original TM 92f - the one with the fixed hop. Did you manage to fit such a kit to the more recent Gen 2 Marui M9? Or am I mistaken? -
Thanks for sharing your experience. Yes, I have to admit getting the TM black tactical and trying to modify it later, would make more sense.

I recently got a TM FNX45 Tactical in dog poo, and I am very happy with it. It is everything people who have praised it, say it is. I have also become attracted to the black version, but in the Civilian format. This is the one without the extended barrel and raised sights. Unfortunately TM only make the black version in the Tactical format. Only the Cybergun VFC made FNX is available in the Civilian version. Now I know the TM FNX45 is superior to the Cybergun one, but I am tempted to get the Civilian anyway. And so I would appreciate advice from owners or ex-owners of the VFC gun. The gun would not be used for skirmishing, and would only be shot occasionally. I know there are probably long term reliability problems with it, as there are with most non TM pistols, and that the internals are unnecessarily complicated, and VFC parts are hard to come by at the best of times. I have heard that the VFC slide rattles a bit, but then so do many pistols, including my TM Hi Capa, so unless the rattle is excessive, that would not be a deal breaker. In any case my limited use of it might mean that it would continue to function normally for a long time. None of my pistols are used in a game and all are bought primarily as collection pieces. Would anybody care to talk me out of buying the Civilian? Or encourage me to go ahead and buy it?

Which version do you think looks best? Original TM grip with sliver trigger and black magwell Cow Cow Sculptor grip with black Edge trigger and rubber grip tape Guarder tactical grip with Guarder silver trigger

The point about the 18 minutes is that is the point at which he begins to criticize the TM mag for (according to him) not taking in enough gas. This may have been the reason for the OP's original post.
-
Sounds like the OP may have been watching the Bespoke Airsoft video comparing the TM to the VFC. If you wonder what I mean, start the video at about 18 minutes.

Thanks. I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the impression that one end of the pin is a tiny bit thicker than the other end and can chew up the hole in the grip over time if it is not inserted correctly ( and on some pistols is actually knurled to let you know), but I no longer have a set of callipers so am unable to work out which end of the tm pin is actually a bit thicker. The Guarder grip I referred to is the same one used on the KJW Tactical Hi Capa KP-05.
-
It occurs to me that I may have been removing this pin incorrectly. So I'd greatly appreciate your help. The Marui pin has a concave and convex end. Which end do I put the pin punch to, to remove the pin. I assume I tap it back from the other end on the other side - the side it comes out of. Does it have to be removed from right to left and installed from left to right, or does that not matter as long as the correct end of the pin is tapped out and the other end tapped in? Are the grip holes exactly the same size ie is it only the direction in which the pin is installed and removed? I also have a Guarder tactical grip on one of my hi capas. The pin for this has a convex end and a flat end. I have been tapping the convex end to get the pin out, and tapping the flat end to get it back in from the other side. Am I doing it wrong?

Since TM hi capa and 1911 slides are interchangeable, does that mean the 1911 suffers the same problem of the slide lock chewing up part of the plastic slide that is a well known weakness of the hi capa?
-
I believe a custom metal slide from one of the better manufacturers can actually be run on the original TM plastic frame. So instead of going to the expense and bother of buying and fitting a metal slide and frame to the 1911, you can simply buy the slide and fit that to the stock frame.
-
Thanks for your replies. I'll go ahead and get them. Who knows? Maybe they will work for me too. Using two will increase the length and I might be able to shim them to get a better fit. In the meantime I will look at the Nuprol and WE gas cans. I imagine the Nuprol 1.0 low power gas is a decent alternative to Abbey 144a. Is there an equivalent WE low power gas? I expect they all both from the same place anyway. I specifically want the gas for a plastic TM. And the Abbey 144a nozzle is very short.
-
I was about to get a couple of these through Amazon, but the reviews I read were very discouraging. Most claimed it was a poor fit, didn't get gas into the mag, and sprayed gas everywhere else. Maybe it is designed to be used with Abbey gases only. Could any members who have used one kindly share their opinions?

Very nice. Could I ask what the base gun was? And who makes the Springfield Armory slide?
