  1. Yep, 100% truth. Though it depends on how the gun is set up, in some cases (no electronics, giga fast motor, beefy battery) the gun may overspin and leave the piston somewhere in the middle of its travel. Usually switching to a weaker battery (say 7,4 from 11,1 or one with less mAh/c rating) does the trick. The procedure I mentioned is only "necessary" (read it's really not necessary) when storing for a looooooong time, to minimize the chance of poor quality springs being stretched/compressed permanently.
  2. Nah, as long as you don't leave it "cocked".. Remove the grip, manually pull the anti reversal latch and reinstall. That will also release any tension on the tappet plate spring.
  3. Did a bit of a revamp of my 10" M4.... It's now a 5" M4. Used a spare Specna upper receiver I had, got a new 5" carbon fibre barrel, moved the ARP-9 handguard from my AAP carbine, cut down and recrowned an old Guarder 363x6.02 barrel, replaced the cylinder (from 4/5 hole to 2/3), random spring (m100? m110? who knows) and now I have a very smol boi. Why? Because I want lightweight and compact for long tournaments, this horrid thing is very consistent in Joule output and spread (very surprising given the silly short barrel), plus I'll be strapping a thermal scope onto it at night, the more weight I can shave the better. Powered by a funny 7,4v 1800mAh 130/65c battery that gets me in the 25 RPS region (by sound, need to confirm via chrono). As always, functionality over aesthetics. P.S. G43 + FTC is on there just for show, I don't really use it.
  4. Cut off lever is installed, so it can't be a magnet, or at least said "magnet" isn't used to detect the sector gear's position, there would be two redundant systems that at one point would conflict resulting in silly things happening. That, my friend, is just the tappet plate cam, you can see it on the shs sector as well, although much smaller. Afaik there is only one system that uses magnets to track the sector gear and it's the Ares EFCS (electronic fucky cunty shit) and that would be a whole new can of worms, so yeah you're good to go, swap them gears and have fun
  5. Talk me out of buying a thermal please 😭

disagree with the people saying you won't use it that much. you do have to be honest with yourself about that question.  But I use my expensive stuff quite a bit and I know people that use it more. Playing at night with your mates all nodded up is as good as airsoft gets imo. I absolutely but hopefully politely disagree with the people saying to get random guns/gear/bs instead! thermal will actually change your experience of actually playing airsoft. most airsoft guns give you the same experience lets face it.

      Alright guys here's the thing:

I already have too many guns, all of them do the same thing with a slightly different flavour, some do it faster, some do it quieter, but the end result is the same, a BB is thrown against another person with a reasonable degree of repeatability. No point in having more, since I can only use one at the time.

Gear wise I have three rigs that get used regularly for different purposes, 4 if we count the smersh (that will be put up for sale soon). Same as above applies.

The only two things I have yet to put my mitts on are NV and thermal.

I'm not new to either and thermal is by far the most versatile of the two.

I've already looked at one option (Hikmicro thunder 2.0 model th35p) and Saturday I will have a closer look at the Sightmark mini wraith thermal, both units are 384 core, both units are around the €2k mark and have similar specs.

In any case by Saturday night I will own a thermal optic..

Regarding NV, I already have plans on getting some by the end of the year under a reasonable budget (say 2k, Alexi housing + nnvt gen 2+ tube), and then I'll figure out how to use it without having to wear a helmet or one of those medieval style torture devices.

Power to you then man - if you've got plenty of pews and gear you're more than happy with then - why not? Hope you end up enjoying the purchase as thermal/NV stuff is really cool

  6. ALG Defense actually made a purple one.
  7. Two years later, I still haven't fielded it It's the only rif I have, bar the mk23, to which I haven't spent a fortune on so let's change that. Plan is to short stroke it and install a TTI hop unit.. both unnecessary but hey, who says no to shiny new things? Unfortunately the parts choice seems a bit limited compared to platforms like the AAP or Hi-Capa, the only two short stroke kits I can source are the nineball and the CCT ones, I wonder if the latter is decent enough to spend money onto. Comments? Experiences? I'm keeping the plastic slide for now, I don't see the point in crippling the awesome gas efficiency for "ReEeEeEealism" so there is that too. Next, I need a holster for it, I don't trust the CTM style ones that clamp onto the trigger guard, at the same time I mailed Deadly Customs who said they won't do it unless I send them the gun, which I'm not confident in doing because I'm positive it'll get lost/seized (read stolen).. at the same time I don't want to dish out €200+ for an AMS-6S.. any recommendations? Thirdly, I need more mags, I have these two Action Army mags that I don't use in my AAPs and wanted to convert them to TM spec, so I was thinking of replacing routers and valves. Worth it? And lastly, I may change a thing or two in the hammer mechanism, hammer spring seems a bit tired, I'm unsure if I should buy a TM one or a CCG 140% spring, even though I already kind of know the answer to this question.. Current state of the poor thing.
  8. It's an MP5, it does have an OEM mosfet called M System. Otherwise it wouldn't have 4 selector positions (we've all seen how well the VFC attempt at a mechanical 4 positions selector turned out). Knowing how picky TMs are, I wouldn't. But that's not my RIF and the OP can do as he/she pleases. Yes people have put warheads inside their NGRS, but how many of those guns are still 100% stock internally? I bet none.
  9. eeeh a bit reductive tbf. It is indeed a motor, but with an internal control unit that may or may not interfere with the RIF's internal control unit. Also being a NGRS gun I wouldn't install something as violent as a brushless motor without making serious considerations about the durability of the internals. Regardless of the brand/RPM rating/Battery these motors do sport A LOT of torque which may destroy the pot metal internals TM NGRS guns are known for in a very short time.
  10. I do have an E&L begadi hop that I'm not using.... Though with postage from here and customs I don't know how convenient it can be for you.
  11. Small update on mine. Did some unnecessary shopping and bought two CowCow fire pin locks, two TTI piston heads and two TTI npas valves. It took 10 minutes to install everything, now I just need to chrono them and find a suitable allen key to tune the power on the fly.
  12. That is just to differentiate the older macarons (3 stripes) from the newer super macarons (wavy pattern). The main difference is the additional supports next to the contact patch and the patch being slightly wider/longer on the super variant.
  13. Yeah stock E&L rubbers seem to be made for stupid high energies, certainly not around the 1J mark. Also you did not mention what rubbers you bought. Personally had meh experiences with MR-Hops, okay-ish energy consistency but really bad BB trajectory.. Macarons/super macarons are spot on for me.
  14. My small M4 does this, no hop applied = 0.8something Joules, hop correctly set for 0.32 = 0.99J I guess my particular setup doesn't seal when there is no hop.. Back to the OP, I think you are both having terrible air seal issues, there is no way that you drop so much velocity when applying hop. Sort the compression first, then try again. Some hop rubbers seem to need a few hundred bbs to "break in", but I have never experienced such a thing with my Maple Leaf ones.
  15. Just picked up two Helikon Tex GPS pouches, one in Ral 7013 and one in DNC. Then realized Skirmshop had some of the newer TTI parts in stock so I bought: 2x TTI Npas valves for the AAP-01; 2x TTI AAP-01 piston heads; 2x CowCow firing pin lock thingies; 1x TTI fixed Glock outer barrel (14mm CCW thread).
  16. Nothing fancy, just an AliExpress clone of the Haley mp2 triple insert. Holds metal mags adequately without making it Excalibur-like impossible to extract. Also makes it less difficult to reinsert mags compared to the spiritus style elastic sandwich.
  17. One (hopefully) neat addition to the ammo hub: 6x3 admin/utility pouch from Baribal.
  18. I'm pretty sure one could find a way around ITAR. In any case, yeah I'd go for nods, thermals or fancy nylon.
  19. ^^ This. First establish what you want from your toy gun, then look at the different options.. G&G motors aren't spectacular but since yours is "free", I'd give it a try and see how it goes. In any case stay clear of high speed motors, all they do is stress your batteries for no reason.
  20. When I still had the E&L I had a combat union hop unit inside and the nozzle was very tight on the cylinder head.. I didn't have power loss nor any feeding issue that wasn't magazine related. Mind you mine was a gen 1 CU hop. Maybe it's tight on your setup as well and this being tight prevents the nozzle from sealing from time to time. If you're in for a fancy (and expensive) hop up I would suggest the begadi ones, they are fantastic and you're not limited to ONE nozzle. They list compatible guns on the website for both options (green: cyma spec, blue: E&L spec)
  21. I don't know how you can't see me, wearing my short sleeve RG invisibility cloak and my usual invisible grey backpack
  22. Not much to see here today, just a long black stick among green/brown vegetation that apparently is invisible to others and silly quiet.
  23. A strange sequence of events lead me to play sniper after a looooong time.. I was meant to use my PDW and decided to bring the vsr as well to have some fun in the car park and test a few things.. Well, I forgot the drum mag at home so I was left with the vsr, one mag, no pistols nor spare AEGs... Well fuck me I had some fun Basically played defense all morning, circling around attackers and plinking at them from the side/rear, sometimes people would walk past me (wearing RG trousers, RG short sleeve shirt and grey backpack) without noticing.. Also people complimented the gun, apparently it's inaudible at 10 metres and very, very hard to pinpoint within 5. All I have to do is sort the hop consistency (power is bang on, less than 1 m/s deviation)...
