    Newbie Suppressor question. Many suppressors for Airsoft call themselves "Fake Suppressors" Is this because they don't actually suppress sound or because they are not used on real firearms?

    Reason I ask is that I want to get a suppressor for my bolt action to help dampen the sound somewhat. The only suppressor I own is just an empty metal case and I am unsure if this is what is meant by a "Fake" supressor" Do any suppressors work?

      I always thought it's because anything to do with, or any mention of actual supression will have the ATF up your japs eye within minutes - if you're in america that is.

      I think they're all listed as fake suppressors globally because of americans. I could be wrong though.

      I have one that has foam inserts, I can say I have noticed any reduction in noise though. The noise would come from the gun itself though not the propulsion of a bb out of the barrel surely?
