  1. My quick thoughts based on kit I own and use: Viper - low quality and would not to rely on it, however, for airsoft it does the job and is very cheap. Have a black tactical vest which although cheap, actually has 6 great pouches that are deep with good sized Velcro flaps that means when playing in the dark I will not loose items from. I also have their adjustable pistol holsters because they are one brand that I can fit my Mk23 into with suppressor attached. 5.11 Tactical - good quality, mid priced trousers and tops, well designed kit that I can use for real world activities and airsoft. Recommended. Arc'teryx LEAF - very expensive, (professional range) good quality trousers and tops. The Talos trousers actually lack some of the innovation that 5.11 include. For example Talos lack magazine retainers in cargo pocket to keep 2 x 5.56mm magazines in place. Warrior Assault System - good quality and affordable kit, made for real world use. Wide range of items perfect for airsoft, although they could do with larger pistol pouches and generally longer Velcro flaps to help retention. I am a fan of WAS kit.
  2. UK Tactical have 20% off Pentagon jackets, use code PENT20. Limited time for today only. This includes the Artaxes SF jacket in wolf grey for £59.10; having one myself can highly recommend it.
  3. Just make the targets very small to simulate a greater distance
  4. Which goes to show how Shape, Silhouette, and Colour can still make a person in camouflage with gun stand out. The eye is drawn to the black gun in the foreground, even if camo pattern blends in with countryside.
  5. I can now set up an indoor range - seated on a sofa and shooting 7m through the lounge to the cutains across the patio doors. Place the target on a coffee table in front, and then get the cleaner to hoover up any stray BBs. And ability to switch on/off different lights and lamps in the room to change the ambient lighting conditions.
  6. To update on fitting fans to the Dye i4 mask to solve fogging indoors when wearing a Fast helmet. I installed my FANZ quick disconnect kit, which was not too difficult. I went for the simpler top mounting on the fans and lead using the supplied clips and cable ties (as opposed to fitting them inside the mask). The 9 volt battery box is velcroed onto the side of the fast helmet and power lead connected to the fan lead from the mask. Simple on / off swith on battery box. The 9v fans push the air around inside the mask and kept it clear all day at The Mall on Sunday, so a sucessful result. The fan whine was audible when stealthfully moving around the basement and waiting motionless in the shadows but was not too loud or annoying, and I did not really notice the noise.

  8. I was in the shop next door, Zombie barricade end of The Mall, and the crash of the glass was impressive. Amazing what a BFG can do when it is mis thrown. First time I have heard the command "weapons down!". The marshalls quickly cleaned up the mess and got the game underway again, pity some of the game briefings could not be done with such alacrity.
  9. If only you had joined the forum earlier and had a chance to read though some of the threads/posts regarding Just BB Guns. Would have seen its reputation and poor reviews.
  10. Quick search and I can only find Honey Badger at Action Hobbies based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire, which Google puts at 1 hour 58 minutes by car via M1. They have the Honey Badger short version in stock. http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk All a case of how much you want one.
  11. Can you put a link to a map so I can see what county Sutton in Ashfield is in? Or name of a nearby recognisable town/city.
  12. If I had to guess, and having no idea on anything technical, then because it is really a JustBB gun
  13. I expect that the retail smokes that airsofters buy are designed to burn cold, that is a safe burn producing quality smoke without setting fire to the grass / carpet they are thrown on. The last thing you want is a homemade smoke grenade setting fire to a site or another player.
  14. Being a Cold War warrior, then it has to be the classic British DPM for a woodland game which generally works very well. Especially when I am laying down still and getting my breath back I am now using grey clothing for the indoor urban environment, it does appear to be particularly effective in low light areas. I do need to get a grey cover for my black Fast helmet but will not be spraying my guns with grey paint. Have yet to try it skirmishing outdoors.
  15. Off to The Mall Sun 13 Dec to test out my newly fitted Fanzkit quick detach fans on Dye i4 mask. Hopefully the fans will help reduce fogging. Of course need to get awalk on place first.

Managed to get a walk-on place this morning so had another good day in The Mall. The fanzkit worked well, no fogging of my mask and clear all day. There is a low level whine noise from the fan noticeable when quietly sneaking around.

  16. I love the TM MK23. Yes it is not a small sidearm and so will reduce options in available holsters, and is not a blow back pistol, however, its reliability and silence makes it great secondary weapon. Without the suppressor attached it makes a fine sidearm, personally no more difficult to use than other pistols, and with suppressor fitted is great fun to use. May not have the 'bark' and recoil of other gbb pistols but it appears more gas efficient (due to being non blow back) and does the job.
  17. Anyone going to The Mall tomorrow, Sunday 13 December? Could not book a place so I shall turn up early and see if I can get one of the available walk-on spaces.
  18. ^^ Googlefu is strong in this one
  19. Agree with you on the MTP. I just use British DPM for outdoors and going towards grey kit for urban. Like anything, it is all a matter of preference (and cost). I quite like the A-TACS FG pattern for woodland, although it is not better than DPM and I only have it because I bought a Warrior chest rig in this pattern. http://www.uktactical.com/p-8284-propper-acu-combat-coat-a-tacs-fg.aspx My favourite is the A-TACS LE (Law Enforcement) urban grey camouflage, not seen very many players wearing it. http://www.ur-tactical.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/view/productdetails/virtuemart_product_id/1736/virtuemart_category_id/ Or Multicam Black which looks good. http://www.ur-tactical.com/index.php/component/virtuemart/view/productdetails/virtuemart_product_id/1746/virtuemart_category_id/
  20. I have not played at Epsom but its CQB just like the UCAP Bunker which is very dark/pitch black with confined spaces. The fps limit is for player safety, especially with full auto, getting shot from a few feet away hurts and it could be in your face. In dark tunnels you can easily be on top of other players (very close quarters) without realising. The rules are for a reason, accept it or do not play there.
  21. Using 0.23g BB to take the fps down is cheating the site limit (even without chronograph) and potentially means you have a hot gun which risks other players.
  22. You could have a look here for ideas: http://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/mounting-optics-ak-rifle/
  23. YouTube has several videos for DIY option. Buy cheap foam roll mat from Army surplus store or camping shop, cut it to shape and tape. Does not have to be pretty as it will be hidden inside the plate carrier, just strong enough to hold its shape and support pouches. Edit: Mr Monkey Nuts already posted as I was typing
  24. Ah, such a sweet way to remove those corridor and stairwell campers.
  25. Playing indoor CQB I have used Nike all conditions gear trainers with cross country grip for their light weight and extra speed (so I can walk faster) but generally I wear boots for the ankle support. I have an old pair of Meindl ones but they need replacing as they were for desert environments; I like Salomon 3D and 4D or 5.11 XPRT boots but cannot justify the cost at the moment. Hopefully their will be a sale with good discount in the New Year.
