Fras261
So for those that know my car was (confirmed by the garage) hacked and broken into, and my guns in their case were taken along with my kids tablets. Thanks to the vigilance of this community, the MTR16 has been found, reported and collected, attachments and all, in its case. There are many of you who notified me and my partner and I'd like to thank you all as I had given up and borderline forgot it. Also, having my rifle back means I renounce me quitting the sport. I will be stripping it down and cleaning it and will upload a picture when done. Also this still means the Mk23 and M1014 and tablets are still out there but I have a positive location and am even in limited state planning a snatch back as it were. Oh why don't you leave it to the police I hear you cry, well this is a direct quote from what is a recorded phone call between the police and myself when I asked if they would attend the location with me "Mr (Redacted) I applaud your initiative but we just don't have the manpower. However, you are ex army, you deal with it as you see fit". So there you have it, the tale of tape so far. Again big big thank you to those who got on to me and the missus. I would sign off with a callsign but I stepped away from the AI500 tan team, so I'll use my old nickname from my first days at dogtag, TwoTone out! Pleased you got your rifle back, but confused as to why the plod would make a ridiculous comment like that. I would reopen comms with somebody at a higher level, because you can guarantee that Mr "redacted" would do his best to backpedal & deny giving you that advice, especially if your snatchback went pear shaped in some way, which sounds likely if these criminals are adept enough to hack in to vehicles. The fact you have the conversation recorded is great, but may still not be enough to stop you getting a criminal record if you go ahead with your plans. Just be wary, the police have a lot more time for “violent” and “real” crime than they do “non-violent” crimes like theft and shoplifting. They’ll be more inclined to arrest you and charge you with assault for laying a hand on the thief whilst retrieving your stolen goods back, than they are inclined to charge the burglars. Lots of these thieves will know how to play the system as well. They’ll make their assault and lower hanging fruit than the theft of your belongings. rj1986, Rogerborg, Galvatron and 1 other

Fras261
Let me clarify the snatchback part. The gun was bought by another players relation at hounslow heath car boot sale. There was confirmation that the rest of my kit was there Sunday and it's open again Thursday, I'm going to rock up, make my self known to the manager/organisers explain the situation and go with them to reccie and hopefully find what remains of my kit, as they don't allow stolen goods and don't want to loose any licenses they have. I'm aware I need to add more context but the snatch back will be just that, purely legal Just now, Austeyr said: Their words, not mine, I never disclosed to them at any point that I was in Colin Allen and novioman 1

Funny, but no, I've always had dealings with the police, coming from a police family it's hard to loose the smell of pig. The met are known to check these things, end of the day I dont care how they know doesn't effect me. I have my plan, im not going to use violence I'm keeping everything legal and the seller at the boot sale has no legal ground to stop me taking my stuff back ruskitseller
Mik3F
Question, How can you prove to the seller (assuming they still have it) that the kit is yours and that you are not trying to pull a fast one? Rogerborg and Colin Allen

So why would they say ex-army, and not ex-police? Just so we're all on the same page, none of this adds up and everyone thinks you're talking utter bollocks, in the follow-up thread that no-one asked for, after you got locked out of the first one. In the (unlikely) event any of it's true, don't do dumb shit like keeping RIFs in your car and rolling around with them day to day. That alone should be obvious. Someone who says they have 4 kids should be a little more sensible and responsible. 🙄 Colin Allen, Rogerborg, Tackle and 3 others

Even then, you're assuming he'll roll over & say something like "it's a fair cop guv, fill yer boots", or alternatively he claims he paid good money for them & tells you to do one, will you then be forced to rely on the local plod to turn up, given that they've previously blown you out apparently. Realistically, the only way they would know would be if you have told them at some point. So, let's say you rock up to the boot fair and demand that the stallholder returns the allegedly stolen goods; the stallholder says "Mate, I bought these from a guy I met in the pub." At that point, how are you going to prove that they are your allegedly stolen items? Do they have something distinctive about them that you can describe to the organisers before getting anywhere near the stall holder? If you have not, you are going to be out of luck. He got permission from the police, remember? "Deal with it as you see fit." He has it recorded, it's basically a warrant. I was wondering about this too. The by the book way seems very long winded. There's an interesting video on YouTube by a guy that had his car broken into (I think) and various items stolen. I think he was a photographer or bird watcher or something. He found his camera tripod for sale in a cash converters type place shortly after and documented the insane loops to go through to get it back. I suppose someone could say "this is mine, it was stolen. I'm taking it. He's my contact details should you wish to query it or I'm happy to wait and speak to the police now and you can talk to them about handling stolen goods". You can't steal what you already own I suppose. One for Blackbelt Barrister perhaps.
novioman
I seem to remember that some of the guns were very distinctive, do you have photos of them that you could produce if you find them up for sale. Even then you will probably need the police to attend as I can’t see them being handed back willingly, especially if the dealer paid for them him or herself. If violence erupts your just as likely to get arrested as the other party. I wish you luck getting your stuff back, but don’t let it lead to violence, walk away if things get nasty.
