Etiquette for selling replicas?

Just looking to shine some light on selling some two-tone replicas i don't want.

Simple... go check the rules, start with the big RED banner at the top of every page.

If you want to actually sell stuff, then 60-70% of the current lowest retail value is a realistic price to achieve.  Extras and uPgRaDeS don't add much, they're more of a deal sweetener.  Used two tones are less desirable than RIFs.

 

Do yourself a favour and figure out any extra fees and postage up front and list an all-in price, rather than starting to tack on more costs later.  Most sensible buyers will only pay by PayPal goods-and-services (not friends and family), or face-to-face. It's quick and easy to send a PayPal invoice / request a payment, listing exactly what you're offering and what you want them to pay.

 

Understand that postage is at your risk, not the buyers, and figure out what level of risk and cover you want to accept. That's entirely your concern.

don't worry, i did! its just nice to have a different explanation of the rules or to have any unspoken rules mentioned.

i wanted to make sure i actually understood everything before trying to sell things

Welcome. As already posted a good rule of thumb is 60-70% below the lowest price new. Unfortunately 2 tones will be at the lower end of this. If you're not sure how much anything is worth then put a post up in the appraisals section.

 

In general try to put in your advert as much detail as possible and make sure to mention any issues or cosmetic damage and your location (you'd be surprised how many ads go up saying collection only but don't list this).

thanks for the reply, i was definitely going to show some of the scuffs from my fidgeting, if i didn't it wouldn't be fair.

That's a lot more honesty than one person we spotted recently on a couple of other airsoft classifieds who had been trying to deceive potential buyers into paying a lot more than his gear was actually worth. He became rather upset when some of us asked him for more info.

 

Maybe he can take a leaf out of your book?
