As youre very new my advice is don't buy a helmet.

1. It's generally unnecessary expense.

2. They don't look as cool as you think it will.

3. There is often very little protection from them, BB strikes aren't that painful, a baseball cap takes the worst of it etc. yes sometimes you bash yourself against a tree ..but it's rare and if you didn't have an extra inch or so on the top of your head that you aren't used to, you probably wouldn't have bashed it

4. They generally make fogging worse, which makes it harder to play and you have a worse time.

5. There's better things to spend your money on.

6. The wrong size can give headaches which suck.

7. The unnatural roundness makes you an easier target to spot in some environments.

Honestly, save your money, get a baseball cap or a takeaway or some pyro.

Welcome

That helmet link is far too expensive.

Just search "fast helmet" and choose the cheapest option you like.

As Emergenychimp said, a helmet isn't really necessary but can save your nogin from freak accidents like scratches from low branches or falling against a structure.

Its much more important to get good eye protection and boots with ankle support.

Helmets will make you hot and uncomfortable.  I use one, but only for CBQ games indoors; even then the positives barely outweigh the negatives.  If you really want something to protect your noggin, you can get a bump cap insert for a baseball cap, like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ergodyne-Univesal-Universal-Lightweight-8945/dp/B079KDWN62?th=1&psc=1

I guess the question is: why?

Any piece of plastic will offer about as much effective protection, so the only reason to spend more than the bare minimum is to get a very specific look.  That's a generic FAST helmet and cover, and while OneTigris is a decent brand, I'd rather spend the difference elsewhere (e.g. on the anti-fog blower that you might need if you're running a lid).

As for helmets. A FMA one from AliExpress is far cheaper as 95% of Amazon/Ebay airsoft products are simply dropshipped. I alternate between whatever impressionist helmet or patrol cap depending on how I feel enduring at an airsoft venue. I tend to use helmets far more often in CQB sites, where I've so happened to bump into walls and door frames lol. Outside of just looks, if looking for a helmet, consider the shell, liner, and suspension system to be optimised for your own use.

Yup, I've bought a couple, they're daftly cheap if you can wait a week or so.

My main issue with getting helmets is I am a big person with a big noggin. I need 62cm and a lot of Aliexpress ones tend to be 60 - 61cm and are just too tight!

Tried a XL FMA Ops Core SF bump replica? Take the impact liner out and replace with Team Wendy (or replica) pads and I would bet you will have room to spare.

I have a 62cm melon too and the aforementioned XL FMA Ops Core is tight (the PJ regular cut one is good but the SF High cut and the Maritime are tight). The XL FMA Wendy bump helmet on the other hand is a lovely fit! I think it's as much to do with the actual helmet shape as it is the size though so obviously, YMMV.

I have a 61cm head, but have the added fun of a long-shaped skull rather than a round one (xenomorph/motorcycle petrol tank), so getting a helmet that fit was an absolute PITA.  I ended up going to SOCOM in Fleet as they have a wide range of helmets to try.  I wasn't holding out much hope; the FMA AirFrame copy, which was meant to be good for large heads, was still too tight.  The only one that fit with any degree of comfort was the FMA FAST heavyweight.

If you need a helmet, FMA FAST is the way to go.

Breathes easy, comfy, looks cool and you can hang all your bells and whistles / patches on it.

I use one but only for indoor games, as everytime without fail I know I’m going to bash my head on somthing.

Can second all the FMA recommendations. I have the 'FMA FAST SF Tactical Helmet' and it was <£50. I'm a clumsy ass and tend to knock my head on more than my fair share of stuff, indoors or outdoors. Don't make the mistake I originally did and order a helmet that only comes in one size. They suck.

As for camos, you'll likely need to buy a helmet cover in your desired pattern or paint it. I prefer the helmet cover as it's a quick and relatively cheap change if you swap camo patterns down the line.
